AWFUL service! Â It was a Friday and they were busy but the waitress walked by us several times while we sat with empty drinks and menus. Â She asked several other tables if there was anything they needed but never waited on us. Â Pizza is decent but service negates anything positive about the food.
Review Source:A good place to eat. Â The pizzas were fairly large & at a good price. Â It is wood-fired oven and that does make the pizza's good. Â But average menu; didn't seem to be alot of extra variety. There were a typical number of beer choices at a reasonable price. When we go back to Floyd, I will consider going there again. Â Would consider it better for groups (on the noisy side, but not too bad).
Review Source:My boyfriend and I went here for live music one night on a weekend getaway. Â We have not had their food but the beer selection and live music were great! Â I couldn't believe the quality of music without a cover. Â We also loved the eclectic group of people and how everyone was dancing and mingling together. Â What a fun place in a fun little town. Â Def recommend!
Review Source:The equation is quite simple actually. Decent pizza, great beers, and even better company = Â a pretty darn good time.
Full disclosure: I was here for a wedding reception so I'm naturally predisposed to have a good time. But one quick look at the beers on tap and I knew we were in for a good time. I believe I only recognized one beer on tap. The wood-fired pizzas were decent but nothing extraordinary. Definitely had better thin crust pizzas but they went well with the food.
I enjoyed the Dogtown Roadhouse. We had a fun time eating and dancing. That plus this is pretty much it if you need space for a large group isn't it? Fear not, it's a safe choice.
Definitely give Dogtown Roadhouse a try if you're in Floyd! The outdoor patio is a great spot to enjoy a beer and pizza. And inside you'll find a ping pong table, unless the space is being used for dancing and/or live music. The menu isn't extensive but I would rather see a restaurant offer a select number of items and cook them really well than offer everything under the sun. And this place definitely makes a delicious pizza! I would like to see a slightly thicker crust, but I like that it's made in a wood-fired oven using mostly local in-season fresh ingredients. One pizza (we chose one of the two veggie pies) was just enough for two of us, and we probably had room for an appetizer or dessert. Â On a Saturday in the early afternoon, we waited about 20 minutes before our order was taken. I don't mind waiting a bit for the food to come out when it's made from scratch, but I was hungry and wanted to get that order in! The server was very apologetic and was the only server there. Apparently she's also the only one who works the cash register. The restaurant is kid friendly, with a changing table in the women's restroom and a kid sized picnic table on the patio. There's no specific menu for kids, but hey, we're talking about pizza here! Â I'll definitely go back, prepared for a leisurely, but delicious meal.
Review Source:We are Californians but live in Roanoke during the summer. Â So, we know good pizza (try Pizza Port in San Clemente, CA). Â The pizza at Dogwood is nothing to get excited about. Â Crust is too thin and unsubstantial; toppings are measly, at best. Â good beer selection and polite staff. Â Nice place to go before the Floyd country store but I wouldn't go out of my way.
Review Source:We were in Floyd for New Year's weekend. Â We spent most of NYE at the Floyd County Store doing clogging or something like that, but alternated with stints at Dogtown. Â A DJ was playing old-school hiphop and it was fun, though the kids weren't dancing as much as their parents and grandparents next door! Â The dining area was nice and the pizza looked good, though we didn't have any. Â Staff was nice too.
Review Source:I love pizza. Â Who doesn't? Â But what most people call pizza is bland crust covered in cheap cheese. Â Dogtown does pizza the way it was meant to be. Â The crust is delicious, with a yeasty, chewy, wonderful texture. Â The cheese is top-notch. Â The veggies are fresh. Â But what really makes it special is that wood-fired oven. Â There's something about pizza cooked in a 700 degree wood-fired oven that gives it amazing flavor.
The guys are great, they even let my father and I behind the counter to get a better look at the oven.
If you're in Floyd for a weekend, try it. Â You won't be sorry.
