By far THE best ribs I've had in a long long time. We ate here tonight and I had brisket, and ribs and it was off e charts good! We were served by Bailey who was also a first class guy. We ate and reveled in the Que...this is worth the effort and take it from a guy who eats BBQ whenever I am near it.

I am hoping that you ship...if so, we are going to place a big order

Texas toast, Texas toast, Texas toast.

It is my mantra every time I'm in the great state of Texas. I eat loaves of it. For those not in the know it's really just thick cut white bread slathered with butter (who am I kidding, slathered with margarine) and cooked all nice and crispy on the flat top. Nutritional value = zero.

Four pounds in four days. That is what Texas toast will do to you. It's not an easy feat, but we both accomplished it.

The portions at Don's are heroic. They're known locally for their hot links and they should be. The sides are hit and miss. Luckily, most are laid out on a steam table so you can choose what looks good. The pinto beans and okra are solid, and they have some daily specials. Cold sides include slaw (ok) and potato salad (meh).

After lingering in my draft box for over a year I am finally finishing this review. The last time I was in North Texas was for my Grandpa's funeral. As much as I heart mucho 99% of you Yeeps I don't like to broadcast every aspect of my life (AHEM).

So I will pick up where I left off, remembering that the sweet teenagers that staff the front of the house didn't include my beloved Texas toast with our to go order. I mean that without irony, these kids are salt of the earth charmers. I will totes forgive Chad for being so into Brittany that toast was the last thing on his mind, because:

I would slap Hank Hill for this BBQ. Being Texas, beef is king. The brisket is outstanding, a perfect smoke ring with the right balance of tenderness but still a hint of chew. They are no slouches in the pork department either. The ribs and shoulder are fantastic and don't need a squirt of sauce, though I can't help myself as I am a heathen.

Though Clark's http://www.yelp.com/biz/… gets a lot of love, and they are good, I think Don's will be my default BBQ joint from now on. It's got proximity on its side, which is saying a lot when you are driving a Texas mile. It's where the fam goes to when we're not dining at Catfish Haven, Note that Whitesboro is a dry town so I highly encourage you to order food to go and hightail it home and drink some Lone Star or Shiner Bock with your BBQ.

Back to the service. We offhandedly tipped perhaps $7 on a $50 to go order after being charmed by the teens' utter Texas-ness and willingness to sweet talk the pit boss out of his burnt ends so we could take them back to the house. I felt like the Queen of England - "this is the biggest tip we've ever had."

So no Texas toast but they threw in a gratis slice of chocolate meringue pie which was so sweet I thought my childhood orthodontist would come for me in the night, yet I still only gave a bite of it away. Someday I will learn to share, as long as it's not BBQ. Or Pie. Or anything, really.
