I've been to Dooley's a few times now.
It's a good place to have a few drinks and watch a game because they have a good beer selection, good seating arrangements, and an alright meal.
If you are on Water St., most likely you are there to drink. Dooley's keeps up with with the drinking crowd. They have a decent selection on tap, which includes a seasonal. Most of the time it's Leinenkugel's though. If tap isn't your choice, they have a whole blackboard chalked full of imports and macro brews.
What I do like about Dooley's is the seating and atmosphere. I love to go during the weekdays. More often than not, you can find a seat on the top balcony and watch the game without the rowdiness of other bars. That's kind of what I like about the place. It's pretty low-key and they have the big games people want to watch.
Now to the food. The food isn't spectacular. This is why I don't rate Dooley's higher. I always try to get Irish food because it's an Irish pub, but ironically Dooley's doesn't really serve good Irish food. I've ordered three meals there and only one of them I would order again. Last night I had the Shepherd's Pie. It was probably one of the blandest meals I've ever tasted. It's excellent if you don't like flavor. Luckily I found a bottle of Tabasco sauce. It was pretty good after that. If you do order food, order the Reuben or an appetizer. Apparently their cheese curds are pretty good as well.
I'll still be back to Dooley's. I just really like the place for a late night drink. Water St. can get fairly busy, and if I want to go watch a game with a few buddies Dooley's has what I am looking for.
The food was inedible. Â Very disappointed because we used to love it there. Â The chicken wild rice soup was from a can and was awful. Â The Irish Stew used to be so good. Â It also tasted like it came from a can but had massive amounts of nearly raw onion added. Â We will not go back. Â Wish I had listened to the other reviews instead of wasting my money.

Unfortunately, there was not much open on Water Street on Sunday. This was our second attempt to get a full-service meal because when we walked into the Nucleus Cafe we were told we could sit anywhere but they could not take an order for 45 minutes. So when we saw Dooley's Pub was open we decided to try.
I ordered a veggie sandwich which was missing 1/2 the ingredients ,,, cheese, marinara, etc. The fries had sat around for sometime and I did not even attempt to eat these poor pathetic limp things. My boyfriend had the Irish Patty Melt and it too was missing ingredients. So much for the kitchen knowing the menu. We did start with the cheddar cheese curds. They were hot and airy but were served with nasty, old, bulk bottle tasting ranch dressing - YUCK. Alone they were fine but needed something to jazz them up a bit. The service was fine and friendly - that is why they got one star and not none.
My guess is that this is somewhere to drink on Saturday night and not eat the rest of the week.
