I've been to Dooley's a few times now.

It's a good place to have a few drinks and watch a game because they have a good beer selection, good seating arrangements, and an alright meal.

If you are on Water St., most likely you are there to drink. Dooley's keeps up with with the drinking crowd. They have a decent selection on tap, which includes a seasonal. Most of the time it's Leinenkugel's though. If tap isn't your choice, they have a whole blackboard chalked full of imports and macro brews.

What I do like about Dooley's is the seating and atmosphere. I love to go during the weekdays. More often than not, you can find a seat on the top balcony and watch the game without the rowdiness of other bars. That's kind of what I like about the place. It's pretty low-key and they have the big games people want to watch.

Now to the food. The food isn't spectacular. This is why I don't rate Dooley's higher. I always try to get Irish food because it's an Irish pub, but ironically Dooley's doesn't really serve good Irish food. I've ordered three meals there and only one of them I would order again. Last night I had the Shepherd's Pie. It was probably one of the blandest meals I've ever tasted. It's excellent if you don't like flavor. Luckily I found a bottle of Tabasco sauce. It was pretty good after that. If you do order food, order the Reuben or an appetizer. Apparently their cheese curds are pretty good as well.

I'll still be back to Dooley's. I just really like the place for a late night drink. Water St. can get fairly busy, and if I want to go watch a game with a few buddies Dooley's has what I am looking for.

The food was inedible.  Very disappointed because we used to love it there.  The chicken wild rice soup was from a can and was awful.  The Irish Stew used to be so good.  It also tasted like it came from a can but had massive amounts of nearly raw onion added.  We will not go back.  Wish I had listened to the other reviews instead of wasting my money.

    Terrible ,,,
Unfortunately, there was not much open on Water Street on Sunday. This was our second attempt to get a full-service meal because when we walked into the Nucleus Cafe we were told we could sit anywhere but they could not take an order for 45 minutes. So when we saw Dooley's Pub was open we decided to try.

I ordered a veggie sandwich which was missing 1/2 the ingredients ,,, cheese, marinara, etc. The fries had sat around for sometime and I did not even attempt to eat these poor pathetic limp things. My boyfriend had the Irish Patty Melt and it too was missing ingredients. So much for the kitchen knowing the menu. We did start with the cheddar cheese curds. They were hot and airy but were served with nasty, old, bulk bottle tasting ranch dressing - YUCK. Alone they were fine but needed something to jazz them up a bit. The service was fine and friendly - that is why they got one star and not none.

My guess is that this is somewhere to drink on Saturday night and not eat the rest of the week.

I used to love going to Dooley's, but the past couple of times it's been terrible. One time, I went with a small group of friends midafternoon; food tasted off, service was slow, despite there being few people there. Another time, I went there for dinner with my roommate. Our waitress ignored us for quite a while before taking our orders, and never refilled our drinks, despite hailing her down several times (or, at least, trying to), and once she finally stopped, forgot to bring over the drinks. We ended asking a different waiter, who was nice, at least. When our orders arrived, mine was the wrong order, and my roommate's was cold. Mogie's is right next door, and they have the best burgers I have ever had, and the servers are always very nice. I haven't been back to Dooley's in months, and I never will go back.

Just no. If you're hungry and planning on going to Dooley's, slap yourself right in the face and walk across the street to the Holiday Gas Station and dig around for some better tasting food in their garbage can. I'll take your thank yous later :D

Maybe that was a bit of an exaggeration but Dooley's definitely leaves you wanting flavor.

Bar is usually too packed which probably is a good sign but I don't go there.

I have never been served raw chicken until here, and not once but twice. They tried cooking the same piece again, and failed miserably... Not even college students eat raw chicken. Obviously a heavy college crowd and all that comes along with that...
