The family and I went to Dotzy's last Sunday night. Â I had heard good things about it and I am a BBQ fan so being only 20 miles from a BBQ place I had to go and check it out.
We started out by ordering their haystack onion rings and the nachos. Â The o-rings were light, crispy, had a great flavor to them and their dipping sauce was also good. Â We also had the nachos with pulled pork. Â Having pulled pork on nachos seemed weird so that is why I had to try it. Â It was very good and the pork fits well with the dish.
The kids each had the mac and cheese from the kids menu. Â Since I had to share my ribs with them I tasted some of their mac. Â It was home made creamy deliciousness (is that even a real word?). Â I do have one gripe, bbq places should have some kind of kids rib plate because my kids can't be the only kids that want to steal ribs from their parents.
I had the ribs with baked beans and baked sweet potato. Â The ribs were very good and tender. Â I ordered mine with their house bbq sauce and a side of the hot bbq. Â The house sauce was chunky and oniony ( I love making up words). Â I liked it the best of all 3 sauces. Â I thought the hot bbq was good but it was more like buffalo sauce with some bbq added to it. Â The beans were good and so was the sweet potato.
My wife ordered the brisket with a twice baked potato and coleslaw. Â The Brisket was excellent. Â She had the Bourbon BBQ sauce with it. Â It was also ok but a little to salty for my likes, I would giver it higher marks for less salt. Â I did not like the slaw but I am extremely picky on how I want slaw so I don't fault them for me not loving it.
After all was said and done we were all stuffed and had a togo box  full of food for the next day.  I really enjoyed our meal and will go back again, and I will also recommend it to other people.
My only complaint is that there is no tap beer. Â Their bottled beer selection was ok but I would have loved a good dark stout or an IPA with my ribs.
