Most of my family is from Fayette and I have a Grandma and aunt who still live there, so I frequently visit them. Usually we have dinner at Leo's in Oelwein, however, Victories was new in town and we had heard good things about their food.

My mother, 2 aunts and my grandma went there for dinner on a Saturday night. We called ahead and they told us we WOULD NOT need a reservation. When we got there, no one greeted us or pointed us in the right direction so we searched for a hostess upstairs on our own. When we got upstairs we saw that most of the tables were empty so we expected to get seated relatively quickly. After standing around for almost 10 minutes the hostess came over an asked us how many, very rudely, with no hello or welcome at all. We told her and she said that it would be at least an hour wait and walked away. We stood there dumb founded, discussed waiting and turned to leave. Then a manager came up, still didn't greet us, we asked him about the wait and he told us there was nothing he could do.

We left and went to Leo's and had a fantastic dinner as always. I can't say anything about the food here, as I have not had it, but I will not be returning to Victories even for a drink because of the terrible service we received.

We were thrilled to find a big city kind of place in a small town on our trip to a family reunion.  The beer selection on tap was very good as was the food.  The wait staff was great.  This was probably the best restaurant for the town size on our coast to coast road trip.

This being my first time back in Fayette in over 10 years and being a UIU alum (97) there have been quite a few changes. One being the restaurant/bar scene and the other being the university. After an afternoon of golf with a friend from school we decided to have dinner at Victories. Once you walk in to the place, you're not reminded of a typical Iowa bar that I've been used to during my days there. The decor and design had a modern flair with giant flat screens over the bar. Bar tenders and wait staff were very friendly. I had the SATAY and Boneless Wings to start out. The peanut sauce for the Satay was very good and as was the hot wing sauce. From what I was told, all the sauces there are made by the executive chef. Thumbs-up there. Then I had the rib dinner with corn bread and chili on the side. Ribs had great flavor and once again the sauce had a good bite with sweetness. And the chili had some good heat but wasn't overpowering. Also, the presentation of the food when being served is what separates this place from the other establishments in town. In other words no paper plates and knives.  After a great dinner we finished off the night with me giving my buddy a beat down in several games of pool.   Being from Chicago and living in Miami for quite some time now, I can say this is fine dining in little ole Fayette. The BEST part of it all is the price. Victories has really combined great food and reasonable pricing for a college town and a small town.  I definitely will be coming back soon and bringing the family with this time.  Thumbs-up to staff and management. Buen provecho!
