I'm not really sure what to think of this place. I've had excellent food and service and then really poor food and service. It's definitely overpriced for the quality - I will say that. Also, if I'm going to pay $10 for a martini I expect to be able to taste the liquor. I am the farthest from a lush but the drinks here are EXTREMELY weak. In the summer it can be busy so don't expect good service if you sit on the patio. Overall, ehh. If I want to spend a pretty penny on dinner I'm going to go to Brighton Bar and Grill across the street as the quality, food and service is much better.

Service here is ungodly slow. I always feel like they think we paid and are waiting for us to get up and leave.

That said, I'm addicted to the gourmet fries. They're stupid good. Only other food I can comment on is the ahi tuna dish, which was pretty mediocre. I've had ahi tuna that was swimming in the Pacific Ocean an hour before I ate it, so I am admittely kind of an ahi tuna elitist/prick, take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The beer selection is decent and the giant couches and chairs are really comfortable, so if you've got some time to kill while downtown stop in for a drink, it's worth it.

This place has a fun vibe and it doesn't hurt that it is downtown. As far as the food is concerned, it just isn't my cup of tea. I'm not a huge fan of the small portions and fancy food. I've had business lunches here - which is what I would reccommend this place for.

It was between a 4 and a 5 star so I'm giving them the bump up because the waitress was awesome.  We were the only ones in at 3:00pm on a Saturday, which surprises me.  They've won best tapas (fancy word for appetizers here) and I think they deserve it.
We had the ahi tuna served in the martini glass and it's my fave starter dish ever!
The gourmet fries served in the Parmesan cone with balsamic glaze is creative and Delicious.
Stuffed eggplant dish was a meal in itself, and I love that the eggplant wasn't mushy and disappear under the cheese and sauce.  It was tender but meaty and held its own with the rich cheese and tomato sauce.
Next time we get the scallops!
Also had the Mike's mojito martini which was just perfect!!!!

Review update. I have tasted several of their appetizers and I am hooked. They have Blue cheese nachos (mmmmmm) and steak bites (cooked very nicely). The martinis draw me in and the atmosphere keeps me there. This is a great place with their couch areas in addition to the normal tables. Great place =)

Woop! I really dug this joint.. We went here for a night cap after our terrific Japanese dinner during our stay in Brighton. The decor is new and hip with a real cool color changing bar.. Their martini menu is HUGE! I didnt know you could make so many different martinis.. My wife had Monkey-nuts ( lol yes thats the name ) and i had the butterfinger and both were outstanding.. Real good deserts, i loved the presentation and cant wait to return! They also serve tapas and a variety of other food and am anxious to try that next time as well!

I have been to Downtown Main several times.  While I am a fan there are some things that I wish they would improve upon.  First the positives: they have a huge drink selection.  There wine and beer selection is tops, hard to find another restaurant in Brighton that has as much beer and wine and drinks in general.  Their wait staff has had a good reputation of knowing what they are talking about.  Their food is great.  Their menu is Tapas so dont expect a huge plate of food but expect the food you recieve to be top notch.  Now for some improvements that are costing them a star.  As I said before their wait staff "had" a good rep for knowing their stuff.  Lately when I have been in there it seems I always get the young dude that hasnt taken the time to learn a little bit about wine or drinks.  I know the owner casually through interactions between his work and mine and luckily he has been there to fill in where his wait staff falls short.  Then again thats for me, so I can only imagine there are customers falling through the cracks confused and thirsty.  Next small issue is the dessert offering.  I love nothing more than a night cap with a sweet dessert and some cappuccino.  I ordered the cheese cake, it was good but not amazing.  The cappuccino was just... well I wish I hadnt ordered it.  Downtown Main is great looking and has a lot to offer but where they fall short, which is not in many places, it just sticks out like a sore thumb.  More than disatisfaction its just annoying to see a great restaurant overall over look small things.  OTHERWISE its a top notch late night hangout.  If you enjoy great beer, wine, and martinis then its a place you have to look into.

Please spare me from ever having to go here again. The ambiance, decor, & seating options are great, however the drinks & food left a lot to be desired. Although I realize this is a martini bar, I ordered a mojito from the cocktail menu; it tasted watered-down. To eat, I ordered the cheese, fruit, & veggie platter only to learn that this is not available because they can't keep the fruit fresh for long enough. What? Why would they 1) outright admit that they can't keep a product fresh and 2) not remove it from the menu? So I settled for the Michigan salad with raspberry vinaigrette. The vinaigrette was thick & gross. I was really excited about trying this place because it seems to offer a new option for downtown Brighton, but unfortunately they still have figured it out. Bummer.

So when I think Martini Bar I think Rico Suavé. Ok maybe not.  But I think upscale.  Perhaps due to my own assumptions I was let down just a little bit.

Before I continue I must say this was my first visit and it was a Wednesday, just prior to NYE 2011. Perhaps this led to the atmosphere I encountered.

So the decor was semi modern though there was no music playing at all.  While this made for nice conversation its always nice to have SOME background music.

I dressed in martini-like clothes: pencil skirt, a slightly revealing blouse (just enough but not too much- ya know!) and some sexy pumps-  I was a bit overdressed comparitively, but still comfortable.  Most people were wearing jeans, two peeps had baseball/knit hats on.  The crowd was mostly 30's-40's in age and the place was about 1/2 full- good for a Wednesday, eh?

I heard the Margaritas were meh at best; my Pumpkin Pie Martini was strong and dessertish; the Godiva Chocolate Birthday Cake went like hot-cakes.

Waiter, Eric, had a shot made for a few of us called: SHAME.  ASK FOR IT- DE-LISH!

Beer was served as well and, well, beer is beer.

Overall its a cool joint.  Would like to experience it on a weekend.  Due to the great company (and possibly great shots), my sister's 37th Birthday was a success!

Ate here last weekend with my girlfriend for the first time. For starters the service was excellent from the minute we walked in the door. We weren't sure what the menu was or if we were going to stay so we asked the hostess for a menu. We decided to give it a shot and were seated right away on their outdoor patio. The beer list is amazing, I know they say martini bar but its worth a trip just for their beer selection. We were initially a little hesitant about their appetizer/tapas prices but decided to give them a shot. We ordered the gourmet fries and the spinach artichoke dip, both were amazing. Calling it a tapas bar is a little misleading, it made me thing we were going to get small portions of finger foods, that was not the case at all. The appetizers are a little pricy but the portions are massive so bring some friends and share.  My girlfriend ordered the gourmet angus burger and didn't care for the pretzel bun but I loved it and ended up trading dinners and giving her my Prime rib ciabatta sandwich which was also excellent. Overall we had an excellent experience, the owner/management were actually walking around table to table chatting with customers and making sure we felt taken care of. We'll definitely be going back with friends to pass around appetizers and work our way through the drinks menu.

I planned a get together for a friend coming in from out of town here. I wanted something in Brighton, where most of us had grown up, but that wasn't Stout. Well it wasn't Stout.  They don't cut you off after three drinks over there. And it wasn't just one person, it was the whole group! They would bring water and avoid us. We weren't loud, I would know, I only had one drink. The women working the bar didn't seem to be knowledgeable about the drinks they were making.

At least I learned what goes into one of their Cherry Bomb's and I can make it at home now.

I hope it improves and the hire some people who are interested in mixing drinks.  Brighton could use a classy place.

I was underwhelmed. The decor is very nice, but the food was awful. I did not like my apple martini.
