This review waited until I got a few visits to The Dragon Room under my belt. It's just an overall great restaurant.  It's the bar of The Pink Adobe.  Much more informal and a great place to spot celebrities.

Any attire is welcomed - you'll find customers dressed to the nines sitting beside someone who just stopped by after a hard day painting artwork. Everyone is truly welcomed.

There are a few seating options. There's the main bar where all the action is, but if you prefer a more secluded, quiet, & private experience, there are rooms in the back of the restaurant. During spring and summer the outdoor patio opens up and it is just beautiful.

The food is excellent. Again, I ate here many times before writing this review, so I've sampled many items on the menu. They serve the same food as the Pink Adobe and therefore, have the same menu. The bonus is there's a happy hour with a special menu. Same good stuff as on the regular menu, but at a lower price. Something I don't think the Pink Adobe offers.

The grandson of the original owner has recently bought the place and taken it under his command. If ever you come across a review of Dragon Room/Pink Adobe that is not positive, it was probably written during the time of another owner. Joseph knows the restaurant business and knows what he's doing. The menu, the atmosphere, and the overall experience reflect this. It's back up to par and you won't be disappointed!

I feel compelled to write a review of this place, it had hands down the best Margaritas in town. I forgot our lovely waitresses name, but she was a marvelous server, the best we had in Santa Fe. I got this margarita with prickly pear puree I believe, which she had them add a little bit of fresh lime to make it slightly less sweet (I like my margaritas on the tart side).. It was the BEST. I'm only saddened that I don't have the recipe.

No better place for a Friday cocktail. Nice fires during the winter and pleasantly surly bartenders year round!

My wife and i have been coming to New Mexico since the late 80's . We love everyhting about this amazing state . We have tried all these years of many visits to go to the Dragon Room , however we either were not allowed in ( had door slammed in our face ) or we didn't look right ( host pointed to dress code sign w/o speaking a word to us ) or the place was closed . Now we have made the Dragon Room a" joke pilgramidge " just to see what happens when we get there . As of this March 2012 we still have not got inside as they were closed again . How do they do business ? It's really hilarious if not a mystery . We will be down next week and will walk by again just to see what suprise we get next ..........can't wait . Oh by the way , if we get the door slammed in our face it won't be pretty !!!

It was snowing this evening and the smell of the fire permeated the building. It made for a perfect Santa Fe scene. Fun and super cute place to hang out and chill with a drink and some friends. Oh yes, and people watch.

For late night food/drinks one cannot beat the Dragon Room at the Pink Adobe!  After the most relaxing spa experience ever at Ten Thousand Waves, my Husband and I stopped by the Pink Adobe.  We went on a walking food tour the day before and one of the stops was the pink adobe.  We loved the rosarita we were served so the next night we thought this would be a great place for a late night bite to eat - and we were right!

We had the rosaritas again and this time they were strong!  Though that is a good thing in some ways, I wish it had been a little sweeter like the day before, but I'm always glad to get my money's worth.  After a small debate, my Husband convinced me to get the hamburger, which I thought would be lame at a place like this, but OH MY I was WRONG!  That hamburger with the green chili relish, cheese and the most amazing sauce was one of the highlights of our trip to Santa Fe.  Who would've know!

So glad we made our way back to this gem.  The Dragon room decor alone is reason enough to stop by.  The history, which is obviously all around this place is very unique and fun.  Next time we are in Santa Fe I know we will be back to the dragon room- just for that burger!

I love myself some Soharu and Richard action behind the bar! Even though I was never part of the old Pink crowd, like everyone else seems to say, these two definitely are great in this place!
I do wish they'd have consistent late hours though...most of the time I get off work and want a drink or 4, but I get sad when I walk over here to find it closed. Either way, I'll continue to come back here as much as possible.

I am a sucker for escargot, sweet drinks and live music- STOP TELLING ME THIS PLACE IS PRETENTIOUS: I might be the stuck-up girl sitting next to you at the bar!

Get over it and just enjoy yourself. The bartender has been kind to me and to anyone I have been there with, every time. The food is kitschy and delicious, and thankfully the  baked mac & cheese can half sober up your date if he's had few too many of the lovely beverages.

I've found that the other guests at this bar are exactly what you make of them, feel free to start a conversation or just keep to yourself, the atmosphere can be pretty fun. Warning though- around 10, surprisingly the live music will end, due to neighborhood noise restrictions! Bonk!

Cute bar with a great outdoor seating area. Expensive for what should have been happy hour drinks. The fruit mojito was a little above average but not worth $9. Would have loved to try some apps also but the price was too steep for afternoon snacks.

I can't think of a more annoying bar in this burg. Scores of know-it-all 20-somethings and over-50 self-entitled people are the clientel, and they get good treatment by the staff because they have oodles of cash dripping from their wallets it would seem. However great this might seem, this bar is filled with jerky staffers, poor service, and some pre-ordained attitude that is simply non-explainable. The drinks are poured badly, and the expectation of a tip for bad service is practically written into your bill at the end of the evening.
If you are a new business person on his/her first trip to Santa Fe, I could see being bedazzled by the local color (or poor choice of a color scheme), but if you really want to have an interesting time in what the locals call "The City Different"... Go to a different bar because they prices alone make this one of the biggest duds in the entire downtown area.

The Pink (aka the Dragon Room) has become a shallow pantomime of itself since the new ownership cleaned the place up. They ixnayed the fire ring out on the patio and generally sullied the authenticity of an old local favorite.

I was soo excited to go have a drink with a few of my friends at this bar... I had heard a lot of good thing about it... lies. now, we are all between the ages of 21 and 28, so we are a bit younger than most of the people in this place, everyone was between the ages of 51 to 58... which is fine with me! I enjoy a mature calm crowd! However, because of this we were treated horribly by the wait staff! It took us sooo long for anyone to even take our drink order, then 30 minutes later when we actually received our drinks, they were all wrong. So we bring this up to our "server" and she becomes a raging bitch, and rips the drinks out of our hands and brings us new ones another 30 minutes later. The last straw was when the last of our party arrived and she showed her ID to the "server" and was refused because her ID was two days from being expired! I think we could have a law suit on our hands if we wanted to take it that far. And it was just us young folk.. everyone around us received excellent service. I may be young, but I still have a good amount of money to spend when I go out. I work in the film industry, so I come to expect a high level of quality when I go out to spend large amounts of money at nice establishments.. and The Dragon Room failed miserably to meet that level.

    DESEA VIVO EL DRAGON!

Housed in a 300 year-old adobe house, the Dragon Room Lounge is considered one of the 19 top bars IN THE WORLD by Newsweek International. I love it! You judge for yourself!

Although Santa Fe is known for "rolling-up-the-sidewalks" at 10PM, the Dragon Room continues to be a late night spot for night-owls & party-goers young & old. I've spent many a late night here. Many memories were made here and many will remain here - - secrets known forever by only a few of my most trusted friends and drinking buddies.  I will never tell, nor will they.

The Dragon Room is part of the Pink Adobe Restaurant complex and was created by Rosalea Murphy in 1944. Santa Fe is known as "The City Different" and the Pink Adobe and the Dragon Room Lounge live up to that unique moniker. The walls are covered with Rosalea's artwork and there are trees growing through the roof!

Cozy and inviting with strong drinks and smiling New Mexican service, this is a place where you will want to spend some time. Ghosts are everywhere. Many generations of Santa Fe residents and visitors have lived, loved, laughed and partied in this 300 year-old building.

Many a new friendship has been formed, or a new love affair begun while wrapped in the southwest elegance and colors of The Dragon Room . . . . yes, with a margarita or two served under the New Mexico stars!

This is the place to meet old friends, new friends, gay friends, straight friends, young friends, a blind date, a new lover or just your friendly neighborhood dragon. Sit back and enjoy. This is the land of manana, a time & place to relax - for tomorrow will take care of itself. Just enjoy today for all its wonder in the Dragon Room on Old Santa Fe Trail.

                           "MEET ME AT THE PINK!"

                                                            DESEA VIVO EL DRAGON!
