Oh my!  We walked in the door and the greeter handed us our menus and said as he pointed any table over there!  Wait staff friendly, fast and courteous.  Our food was hot...well French Toast 3 pieces with a small piece of apple for garnish no meat offered  with it.  I ordered a side of hash browns...which weren't even grilled oh yes one burned spot was otherwise the were semi raw.
Review Source:For many years, as a kid, I visited Duffy's, with my grandparents, or other family members. It's pretty much the same place I remember, same setup, same menu, etc.
Pretty good service, with ok food. Not much to complain about, but nothing to write home about either.
The best things to order here are their breakfast items, as they seem to be consistent. Other items, such as dinner stuff, is a little less difficult to predict. My mom ordered prawns, and her baked potato came out ice cold. The server was gracious about it, and fixed it, but still... kind of hard to believe the cooks would send it out that way. My sliders were just that, standard slider burgers. No fries come with, which seems a bit odd, but that's fine. My pops ordered an omelet, and he said it was really good. Like I said before, breakfast items seems to be consistently good here, but everything else is a toss up.
Overall, this isn't the first place, nor the last place I think of, when pondering spots to hit up for dining out. However, it's pretty likely I'll end up back here again, sometime in my many moons on the Harbor. I won't say I'll be thrilled to go back, but it's not the worst of places, in a town where there aren't many options. Kind of Meh, but mostly OK.
What a joke!
We were in the area on our way home from Ocean Shores when we stopped into this place.
First impression was that this place was family owned and was a mess. When you walk into the front door, the bathrooms are to your right and just past that is a wall of books and garage sale type items with price tags on them. To the left is a wall lined with Lotto and pull tab machines that end at a doorway to the bar. (I didn't enter into the bar) Just past the doorway to the bar and the wall of junk is a register sitting on top of a glass cabinet also full of "junk".
Two ladies (Old enough to know better) stood behind the register as a customer attempted to buy an apple pie. Once that transaction was complete, neither "lady" said anything to me, "can we help you?", "Welcome", NOTHING....
When Buzz exited the restroom and came up to the desk, we stood for another 5 or so minutes and finally asked for a menu. One female acted as if we interrupted her conversation and curtly turned the other way. Finally another "lady" appeared-beginnng to see the demographic here?) and took us to a table.
In all actuality, nothing on the menu looked appetizing. The restaurant advertises itself as Irish, but there were NO Irish dishes on the menu at all and the prices were unbelievably high.
The waitress that sat us acted like we were more of a bother than customers and did not come and take our order for almost 15 minutes.
At that point we were disgusted. The place had an odor that wasn't bad, but wasn't inviting, the menu items were not appetizing and were priced for a higher echelon of people.
The atmosphere wreaked of low class outdated decor and the entire place is screaming for a Gordon Ramsey visit. Better yet, I think this place needs Robert!
This critical Yelper will not return to this establishment not even for a restroom break or a cup of water. The staff is very "seattle-esque" (attitudinal) and is choosy about their customers who "Deserve" their kindness.
If I want to be ignored, I'll just go to Seattle and save a few bucks on gas.
If I want to buy garage sale items, I'll just go to a garage sale.
If I want Shit food, I can find that around here at a few places
If I want to pay $14.00 for a tuna Melt, I'll just go to the Queen Mary in Long Island CA.
Also, just because they claim to be Irish, doesn't mean they are...
I think you get the point...
We came during their closing time, but we were still welcomed.
The employees were very friendly and didn't rush us during our meal at all. Â
I ordered the prawn poboy with chowder special. Â The clam chowder was good, but didn't stand out too much. Â The sandwich was VERY delicious. Â The breaded and fried prawns were huge, tasty, and bouncy. Â The bread was toasted with butter, giving it a buttery crunch. YUM.
I also had a bite of this halibut dish and it was okay.
I don't know if I'll pass by this area again, but I'll definitely try Duffy's again if I do.
Duffy's is a cute, family restaurant. The food was pretty good, but the salads were small for the price. We were placed in a back corner and our server was not very friendly. The kids meals were generous and the atmosphere was pretty casual. Would give it a second try sometime for some of the homemade pies and seafood dishes.
Review Source:The first time I moved to Aberdeen (about 7 years ago), I came here a couple of times and while the food was good, I was totally unimpressed with the customer service and the prices. As a result of horrible customer service, I didn't come back until this month. I was pleasantly surprised this time. The proportions are still kind of small (at least for what we got). But the customer service was better. I will probably go back.
Review Source:There are not a lot of choices in Aberdeen when you roll through after 9pm on your way home from a peninsula road trip.
We opted to sit in the bar rather than wait to be seated in the restaurant. I would probably recommend that anytime the bar itself isn't too busy.
The bartender/server was friendly and fun to chat with. Took our order quickly, served drinks quickly and no errors or anything out of "stock" on our visit.
I opted for the rueben with fries and a black butte porter. (it comes with potato salad, but I substituted)
After a very long and amazing day touring beaches and rain forests, I was really just happy for food. However, it should be stated to anyone unable to determine for themselves, this is not a place where the entire menu is "home made".
Standard, run of the mill, likely from a jar sauerkraut, plentiful but almost sub par corned beef on surprisingly really good rye. Â The fries were standard bought in bulk diner fair and although they were cooked perfectly, they were not cooked in clean oil or in a fryer separate from any other foods as they tasted like fish.
I can see this being the "Denny's" of town. Where you go because it's where you go, where you go because nothing else but a few bars are open at the time, or because it's a familiar enough set up and you're just driving through town.
I imagine there is a chance I will eat here again someday under those above reasons, but I can't give it any higher than 2 stars, as it was just a 'meh' experience to a very tired and hungry girl and I have, indeed, had better.
I still can't figure out why so many people eat at Duffy's! Â The food is OK but the service is AWFUL! Â The management is unprofessional, unfriendly, and certainly not concerned with the way the employees treat the guests. Â
This morning was the third time we have been to Duffy's for breakfast and the server came to our table twice, once to take our order and once to serve us our food/give us our bill. Â She did not return to our table once to ask if the food was ok or if we needed a drink refill. Â
I am the type of person who speaks my mind so I asked the manager what was up with the server dropping our bill off at the same time she served us our food. He basically dismissed my question and I politely told him we were not happy with the service, as we did not get offered refills or checked on at all. He started grumbling like a grumpy old man and said "there is nothing I can do about it" and stormed off.
It is the only breakfast place in Aberdeen. Â We will be having breakfast at home from now on. Â It's cheaper anyway.
Food is good. People are friendly. Decent facility.
I've had many meals here. Â Their breakfast is outstanding, but dinner food is ok to good. Â I've never had a bad meal here and will be back again.
This is an excellent place to bring groups with plenty of seating. Also good for kids.
My girlfriend ordered the razor clam appetizer. Â It never came. Â The orange juice didn't taste very good. Â The hash browns tasted like fake butter. I ordered my yak hamburger steak medium rare, and my girlfriend ordered her breakfast steak medium rare. Â Both came out well done.
One thing I liked, though, was that they had Tiger Sauce on (some of) the tables (not ours). Â Tiger Sauce is made in my hometown, so it's nice to see it in another state.
If I'm ever in Aberdeen again, I'll find somewhere else to eat. Â I'd seriously rather eat at McDonald's.
WHAT A RIP OFF - lousy, overpriced "food"...
I had to be in Aberdeen for a family memorial service and we arrived early and hungry - this was a place my grandparents took us to lots when I was a kid - probably hadn't been there in 15 years and remembered it as an old school '70s/'80s family restaurant with good food, so for old times sake thought it was a good choice - Maybe that was just the rose colored glasses of youth?
My hamburger was maybe a frozen 2 oz. patty before cooking, and after cooking was a dry, tasteless brown wafer on an oversized bun. The fries with it were completely flavorless. My partner's French Dip had two thin slices of deli roast beef, watery jus, and the side salad was iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and red cabbage, topped by a giant handful of croutons, too much dressing and seasoning salt - not even an unripe tomato wedge or cucumber slice as garnish. We added a cup of hot tea and an iced tea and our check was over $26!
If the food had been decent, I really wouldn't have cared, but the food sucked, and our waitress came to take our order, dumped off the food and ignored us the rest of the time. The only person who seemed friendly was the bus boy.
I wasn't expecting "big city quality" but certainly thought I'd get something I wouldn't be pissed off to be served. Really wish we'd just hit one of the fast food joints on the strip coming into town - would have been a lot cheaper and better tasting. I agree with Yelper Diane H - one star is generous.
One star is generous. Walked into this place after driving around looking for seafood forever and it was awful. The lady that seated us was clearly angry about something...could have been her bad hair day but I'm not sure. The booth we were seated at had crumbs on the seat and the place hadn't been vacuumed in a while. Okay, so maybe they were busy. No, not really. Lots of servers, slow service. Food was terrible. My friend had salmon and had to pick bones out. I had some crab melt thing and while the crab was pretty good the tomatoes were bland and cheese was just nasty. The iced tea was fine though.
After eating maybe half the food my plate sat in front of me the rest of the time I was there.
Everyone in the place seemed crabby. Maybe they don't like tourists with cash.
As a former Aberdeen local, let me say that Duffy's is a local institution. And no, that doesn't mean you have to be crazy to go there. There are certain things you order at Duffy's: 1) Little Wild Blackberry Pie, 2) Crab Louis, 3) Fried Razor Clams 4) Prime Rib 5) Clam Chowder. If you are expecting fancy big city food, remember, you are still in Aberdeen. It's like eating at Grandma's diner...not fancy but hearty and somewhere you can trust will be not just good but good enough.
Review Source:Yak. Yep Yak.
Duffy's offers it and I thought why not I heart Bovines and went with the Yak cheeseburger basket ($8.49). Yak is a lower fat, high protein alternative to beef. The burger tasted so similar to beef it made me wonder if Duffy's just did the old switcharoo on me and just served me beef and called it Yak. Hmmm... The flavors were good but the patty was so thin. If I am eating a burger I am obviously not on a diet so why should my patty be? It was served with onion but lettuce and tomato was an extra charge. Boo.
The service was timely but also grouchy. However I would be grouchy all the time if I lived in Aberdeen too. Seriously if Annie lived her she would have to sing "The sun will come out the day after tomorrow... maybe" Is it ever not overcast there?
So yeah if you want to try an overpriced Yak burger that tastes just like beef served by Oscar the Grouch on an overcast day try Duffy's. Not good, not horrible, but also not worth visiting again.
Duffy's is the WORST RESTAURANT EVER! Â Plus, it's really expensive.
I had the Captain's Plate. Â After my iceberg salad, I was presented with a platter of fried brown objects. Â Frozen scallops? Check. Frozen fries? Check. Frozen shrimp, strip clams and oysters? Check. Â All that for $18.
My boyfriend had an English muffin that was cut in half, stacked with canned crab legs, covered with cheddar cheese, and microwaved. Â I wouldn't prepare this for myself even if I was drunk and had no other options.
I sit down with my friend Kristi and we are ready to eat before our long drive home. Â We are greeted by the table marketing "try Yak"... what?!*@#
2 Stars for the unique menu options offering Yak as another substitute for meat choices... fortunately for me I am not a red meat eater, but it did offer interesting breakfast conversation.
I will however pass on the expensive prices: $3.29 for a side of hashbrowns and $4.99 for 2 grostequely large pancakes. Â I would much prefer smaller portions "normal protion size" and cheaper prices.
Service.... poor! I had to ask for silver ware, my OJ, and my side order...
