I've always been disappointed that there aren't many dining options in Grand Lake. You would think that a nice place to sit down for a bite to eat and a drink with a view of the lake in this town wouldn't be too much to ask for, but alas, this place doesnt exist. EGs garden grill, however, is a great option considering what's available. We were drawn here due to the "grill out" aroma bellowing from the kitchen- I'm a sucker for picking a place just because everything smells good.
The place was packed and they said they were on a "kitchen hold" when we got there (AKA they didn't have enough cooks working). Â Even so, we were seated pretty quickly on the patio and the service ended up being quick. I ordered the reuben, which turned out to be the best i've had in a long while- and i am a HUGE reuben fan. They must pan fry or grill the corn-beef, as it was slightly charred on the edges, adding a nice crunch a freshly grilled taste to the sandwhich. Yum. Great fries too.
The service was also great. The waitress was VERY friendly and was dancing to the live music as she walked between tables - and not in an "annoying - get to work" sort of way, but more of a "i really like my job" sort of way. When the staff loves their job, it's hard not to love the restaurant (provided the food is good).
Gin tonics were huge and well made - nothing too special (ive had better and worse) but i did like the size of the thing.
I was very pleasantly surprised by EGs particularly because of the lackluster reviews. Â Certainly recommend to anyone spending some time in Grand Lake.
This place is in a great location so my boyfriend and I thought to try it out. After we were seated it took probably 15 minutes to get our drinks and when we did there were pieces of shattered glass in the bottom of both drinks! It took an hour to get our meals and the management is terrible!!! The lady that all the waitresses seemed to be taking orders from was smoking and having beers the whole time. I will never, ever return and do not recommend at all. Highly disappointed and surprised they are still in business.
Review Source:This was the strangest, most horrible restaurant experience ever. First we sat outside, where somebody came and took our drink order. Someone else then came to take our drink order. We told her we already had a server but she took our food order anyway. THen waitress # 1 came and we told her someone else took our food order, she was angry and rolled her eyes. Â It got cold so we moved inside. But while we were outside, we could see into the kitchen where the servers were eating off the line and even licking their fingers! Gross. We almost left but then our food came. My daughter's burger was way too pink to be safe and they never asked us how we wanted it cooked. (Well done is standard for ground beef.)
My hubby had a steak sandwich which also came pretty rare, and he likes it more well done but again we were not asked a temperature preference.
My grilled chicken sandwich tasted worse than something I could make myself at home, no seasoning and it was barely cooked well enough. The buns hadn't been toasted and got very soggy right away.
The one thing that was good was the fries, they were very tasty.
Nobody checked on how the food was; apparently they are tired of hearing about the mediocre quality. The decor in this place is horrible... run down, mismatched tables and chairs, and we had a great view of a random vacuum cleaner near our table. We got sick of waiting for them to run our credit card so we had to leave cash. Nobody said thanks on our way out even though an older lady was standing right at the host stand. Don't waste your $$ please on this place! They deserve to be gone which is too bad because it's  a great location with a nice patio in Grand Lake.
