Pretty fun spot on a Saturday night.  music is bumping from the dj.  Service was on the spot for a busy night.  Drinks are cheap compared to downtown.  only thing is its in chula.

appetizers were on the level of solid bar food. Id come back

Eastlake Tavern has the ability to become something special, as the local sports bar atmosphere is just what this neighborhood needed.  I've been here for a dozen "fight nights" or special events and have a great time.  BUT, the food is not that good.

I'll keep coming back, especially because I could walk home if I had to.  What Eastlake doesn't have is a local joint that appeals to Foodies.  You guys could take this place to the next level.

Service was pretty bad it took 45 min to get a personal size pizza. When I finally did it get my food wasn't very good or warm. Its very over priced for the quality and quantity of the food. I'm very disappointed and still very hungry. I would not recommend coming here

My husband and I love going here to see the UFC fights usually Saturday's!  It's  the only time we go.  The service is good, the place is pretty cool and we do like their food.  The last time we were there we had the "tavern wings", and the "meat lovers" pizza which was really good!  Great place for a group of friends; it does get pretty loud if you have small kids.  We always arrive a little before 5pm to get a table because it does get really full!  After 5pm there is also $5 cover.  Drinks are a little too expensive in my opinion.  There is a DJ after 9pm.

Went out on an Friday and Saturday night and got to say it's a nice place for Eastlake for the nightlife. You really can't get this type of experience anywhere else in Eastlake. The price for pool and bowling is fair and the service is great.

Went bowling with the little lady's workmates last night. The owner had deserved three lanes for 3 hours.

It only has 7 or so lanes total so it's on the small side...which is a good thing.  It's the most modern bowling set-up I've seen...very high tech and cool. I liked the skull and bones spotlights.

The "good" beer was $18 a pitcher.

The appetizers were just OK. Nachos, wings,  calamari, etc.

    Service was just so-so.

I wish I had more to say about this place. It looks good inside, but it's just so-so.

Very loud and strange atmosphere. I have always wanted to try one of these Tavern and Bowl places but I came here during the winter and it was a little chilly inside and far too loud to have a conversation with friends. If you want to talk, this is not the place to do that.

Okay, so I specifically created a yelp account for one reason... describe and share with you my absolute displeasure with this place.
It starts with an invite from my brother to join in some good company, bowling and shenanigans on a late Friday night. Not living in the area and hunger already knocking at the door created an issue for my girlfriend and I. So we decided to get there early to eat. It's been awhile since I've been there, at first glance it was how I remembered. You see, my last visit was when it first opened. A happy experience, an evening with friends having good food and drink. It's what you'd expect, right?
Oh how the time's have changed...
From the moment we walked through the door, the inhospitable bouncers set the mood for the night.  A tense, unwelcoming, high school clickish atmosphere was upon us. Seating ourselves in a booth, I felt this was just the beginning.  It being early, the place was practically empty but still took about ten minutes before a waitress noticed we were even there.  We've had plenty of time to look over the menu and order a pizza and chicken strips with fries. The anticipation of the starchy, heavy meal was mouth watering and spoke directly to our empty growling stomach's. "Let's get a drink while we wait for our food", easier said than done.  "Where the hell is the waitress?" she didn't offer us drinks when we sat, hell, she didn't even give us coasters. It was at this point that I started to get frustrated. I ended up getting up several times to get what we needed at the bar. Such things as napkins, utensils, condiments and water.  Even the bartender seemed to be annoyed with this inconvenience.
    Alas, the food arrived...
Hunger makes us all a little cranky, so we try to put the lack of service aside as the food shows up. No satisfaction here, dirty plates with grease and fingerprints gleaming in the low light was unappetizing, yet we march on.  Determined to salvage the night, I try the chicken strips and fries... I might have spat it out if I wasn't as hungry as I was.  The fries had a dirty oil after taste, obviously from over used oil that should have been recycled many moons ago. I think my exact words were "they taste like they've been fried in motor oil".
My girlfriend was now questioning her choice in men after my decision in taking her here,  Perhaps the pizza would save me?  I think not.  One would expect to have a lil grease on top of a pepperoni pizza, sure. But dripping in it?  I'm still confused as to how the grease managed to accumulate on a uncooked pizza. That's right, the dough was stringy and cold. Pulling it apart to see the obvious lack of heat exposed to it was a challenge in itself. Throwing in the towel and signaling a white flag surrender was our only choice.
Finally getting the waitress to leave her table of friends and attend to us, I ask for the check.  I find it funny to hear her ask us if we want a "to go box", seeing all the food left on the table.  With a smile I express our displeasure in the horrible food as to why we didn't eat it or want to take it home. My impression from her response was that she couldn't care less. The check arrives and to my surprise, not a single item comped.  I never expect it, but still surprised as we didn't eat anything and told her why.
The lack of service was repeated with my brother and company later in the night. The bartenders far too busy attending to friends rather than others waiting patiently And don't expect to get anything other than your typical beer or cocktail because they don't know how to make it.. Needless to say, we didn't stick around to enjoy in the shenanigans.
There is an attitude with the staff that I wouldn't expect at sports bar. A real turn your nose up, self serving, attitude.
In closing I will express although my experience here was negative, I wish I could say it was unique.

We went bowling on a Sunday morning, then stayed for lunch.  The lanes were nice, our server was great!  Their Bloody Mary's are yummy, and only $4 on a Sunday.  We had carne asada nachos and chicken strips apps for lunch, they were good, but not great.  Our son loved the sliders he ordered, so I'm happy.  We are planning to make this a regular outing  :)

Really big sports bar with lots and lots of TV's and some bowling!

Have come here on a couple of occasions since my sister lives in the area and there aren't many bars in this part of Chula (Otay Ranch/Eastlake area).

Service is good, food is ok, your typical bar food.  I've had the pizza, wings, fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, burgers, potato skins, and they are all ok.

I haven't come for the bowling, so I'd like to give that a try.

Fun atmosphere. Drinks are good. Food is typical bar food, no complaints though. We had excellent service from our waitress, to the bartender and the guy working the behind the bowling counter. All superb service! It's a good place to be able to come have a good time but not leave Eastlake.

Place is nice looking, too bad the bartenders suck at what they do. I asked for a side car and looked at me like I was an alien so I had to do their job for them. Went another time and the girl was too busy attending her friends instead of looking around and helping the rest of the people who wanted drinks.

Great happy hour prices. Four stars due to the waitress doing a lot of talking with another waitress... left us and other people at the bar waiting

Tavern is kind of a hit or miss. Overall experiences have been good, sometimes it's crowded and other times it's a ghost town. The bartenders are all pretty nice and friendly, but can't say the same about the servers. I have never actually bowled here, it's one of the few hang out spots in eastlake which is super convenient, the prices are pretty standard a little on the high side but that's what happy hour is for. Also Sunday Mimosas are the best 11-3 $12  unlimited mimosas i believe . I think tavern ends up being a lot of peoples default go to place if other plans fall through or if you want a night out but don't want to get dressed up or go to far away.

The reason I appreciate this place is because it is local hangout spot with bowling and drinks to share with friends. It's close and convenient to those in Eastlake. At times, the night will turn up like you're walking into a club with music blasting near the D.J. They've got cosmic bowling. The overall feel seems a little commercial, but I do appreciate the holiday decorations during the holiday season.  Happy hour prices aren't bad and it's a great and local place to hang out. Although, I do wish it had some type of local charm. Overall, its a place where youngsters will keep coming back to.

Had a group of 15 for my daughters birthday and it was perfect.  The hostess was very friendly and extremely helpful.  Our group trickled in and she helped them all get shoes and set up all the kids with the bumper rails...the food was great and Sculpin on tap was exactly what I was looking for...bowling was fun even though we had two lanes.  thanks to the spacious seating area we never felt cramped...she overheard I was a Raiders fan so she put the Raider game on the flatscreen above our lane...my daughter said it was the best birthday she ever had...we will definitely be back...thank you!

Give the staff a medal!!! On Monday night football me and my brother got way drunk to a point we were not capable of driving in any shape or form :P but, thankfully, the BARTENDER!! Took my brothers keys and Drove me and my brother back home!! He even stood there chatting with us so we could feel better. Any place that has this kind of people working there has a 5 star rating on my list! I got a say! there is still hope in this crazy world!

Def coming back!!.. Ill take a taxi next time though lol

PS: almost forgot! Thank u guys! U save me and many from stupidity!

Where else in Eastlake can you bowl, get a decent drink, gobble a gigantic cookie, and share your company with either the kids or a hot date (or both!)? Let's face it, the service, food, and mixology wouldn't get a very high rating, but you don't go here for quality. You go here because it's Eastlake's hippest watering hole and I'm happy that there's a joint in my 'hood that can bring an all-ages community together. Keep an eye out for special events like trivia night and UFC fights, if you're into that (and if you're NOT into that, you might want to go next door to the Brew House instead).

I have been to Eastlake Tavern several times and it was great.  Unfortunately, took the family there for some bowling and pizza on 09.24.12, and the experience was horrible.  The bowling alley wasn't was not working properly and moved to another one only for the alley to mess up like the last one did.  You would have thought that you would be comped for all our troubles but Jules the on site manager didn't  do crap.

Hopefully someone in upper management reads this.

    Good local joint.
Bar/bowling spot that I like to hit up if I'm too lazy to go to downtown and drink. Food is average bar food. I've never been bowling there, but the atmosphere seems fun.

I think the weekends would be the best time to go if you want a livelier atmosphere. They have a DJ playing and a lot more people come out. Minus stars for being in the middle of nowhere and for the food. Just average, but I like it.

I have been going to the Tavern since it opened and the atmosphere has always been good, service for the most part has been good, but the food has gone down hill really bad.  I tried the burger this time since the last time I tried the tuna, beef dip, BBQ sandwich in my recent trips and they were all horrible. The burger came and it was incredible small and very greasy.  The tator tots we cold and they only put about 7 or 8 of them on my plate.... Back to the burger... I seriously think a burger at AMPM would finish a close second to this one.  How sad they let the kitchen go so fast.  I would recommend you eat before you go to this place if you are looking for a good meal.

Yes drinks are a little pricey, but they have great happy hour specials and great atmosphere.

This place has a nice beer selection, not the best but OK.  I love that the glasses are kept in the freezer so your beer is extra cold! Happy hour is real lonely at this place but once the sun sets, its crowded and loud.  Don't expect to get any attention from the bartenders at this hour cause it gets packed. They try to accommodate all but its tough when there's only two of them.

Came here to check out the Karaoke crowd on Tuesday night but there was no Karaoke.  Maybe it's cause there was a game...??  Who knows.  Overall a cool spot to get a $4 beer.  Very clean and hipster-ish. I'll probably come again.

Good for groups; if ordering food, service can be somewhat slow depending on how crowded it is. Pretty loud in here - it can get pretty tumultuous if the groups are large enough. Bowling is bowling. Prices for drinks seem about average I guess (I just turned 21 so I don't know much about the pricing of alcohol).

I like this place though - usually come here with my coworkers. It's a great place to hang out.

I don't know what all the complaining is about.  This place is exactly what you would expect.  If you want a five star dining experience, go to The Marine Room. Our waitress (Lindsey) was attentive and down to earth and the food was decent.

Also, there was a mistake on our bill and Lindsey took care of it quickly without question.  Thanks!

Fun atmosphere and good place to chill.

    I will be coming back.

After reading the reviews I was skeptical about bowling/dining at this facility. I only attended because a friend of mine had a birthday party here.

We made reservations for a Saturday evening and got two lanes for two hours. We had 10 people in our party and the total cost was 200.  Not bad for 20 per person. The waitress (Courtney) did a great job of taking our order.  We had multiple staff on hand asking if we needed anything. The food came out promptly. I would highly recomend the Sweet Potato Fries. I wasn't too impressed with the BLAT.  If you are a bowling enthusiest and looking for a good deal on bowling. this probably isn't a good place for you. If you are looking for a place to hang out drink a few beers with your loud friends.. i would recomend it. I would probably attend again to bowl and watch a football game.

    This place is horrible!

Even though it might look flashy in the inside but the service and experience isn't worth it. The staff is not attentive and will not go above and beyond for the customers. Devin, our server was confused and completely messed up our order. We watched other groups that came after us receive their food. Can you believe this... Our order took over an hour to get. Devin couldn't give us a good explanation regarding the long delay. They even refused when asked if they'd compensate for the delay with free appetizers.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place and go somewhere else. I've only been to this place once and will not go here again.

Came here on 9/10/11. OMG was bowling expensive! I only came because I had purchase some daily deal voucher. Anyways bowling was $35 for an hour and $3.50 for shoes. There were 6 of us. Most of my voucher were used on the bowling and shoes. We waited for a while and no waiter or waitress came to help us at our table so I went to go find one myself. She took our order and told me that our waitress was not in yet so she will help me till she gets there. Really! So if I didn't go ask no one was going to come help me till my waitress clocks in????!!! Like the place was busy or something! DEAD on a Saturday!
We ordered a couple of the buffalo wings, sweet potato fries, chili cheese fries and chicken strips. The food SUCK!!!
As soon as our game was over we were out of there! Never coming back here again!!!

This bowling alley is awesome and there drink specials are off the hook as long as you make it there before 7 your golden. The service was a bit slow at first but I think they were having a shift change because our new waitress was on it. We bowled 4 frames I ended up winning (of course) LOL! and also ordered an appetizer, the steak nachos plus a few beers to wash them down with.

Later, my friend ordered what we thought was a shot turned out to be an entire 16oz drink of gummy bear shot, it was really good and had just the right amount of liquor in it (ridiculous strong). overall had a great time. Will probably be heading to the East Village tavern & bowl next time since it's way closer.

So if you're from the South Bay or are in the area this is a great spot to come get your bowling fix.

    THE SERVICE SUCKS!!!!
I went there and sat on a table that was clearly empty.  7 P.M hit on a UFC fight night.  I was asked to leave the table because it was reserved.  No sign was ever posted on the table.  And no one was willing to give me a second table in return.  It took way too long to order something.  I ended up leaving and just ordering the fight at home.
    Don't go to this place.

The service here is HORRIBLE. I bought a Guinness here last night and it took me 10 minutes to receive it after I had paid for it and the bartender did not let me open up a tab because they were going to close soon (it was midnight). The drinks are way overpriced as well, $11 for an Irish Car Bomb? What are you, dumb Fluxx?

The bartenders need to learn some customer service and how to do their job quickly. Nothing annoys me more than going to a place and being treated like dirt because it's so busy that it won't hurt business... the waitress never arrived at our table either, they were just walking around talking...

I've been here several times and since it's right by my house, I always gave my horrible experiences a second chance thinking that it was too busy that night or that the staff were mentally disabled but no, the Tavern is just horrible.

This place is the epitome of  the unprofessional, rude and overhyped tavern. I live by this place and it's unfortunate that I have to drive to the other side of Chula Vista to visit a professional and fun tavern...

my wife and I + 2 freinds showed up @ 12:15 for the 1:15 charger game. When we looked for a table... 4 were being "saved" for future srrivals. 4 tables. When we asked the staff what was giing on :" all bars are like this. Name one bar that is not". Response : every bar in PB and DT. Putting your child at a table bybthemselves or a set of car keys is not acceptable to "save" a table at any wwell run bar /restaurant. #verylame. We left.. Went to BJ's on hst and had a blast. Waitress made a mistake on a belgium beer order... Comped! Better food.. Better beer selection... I hope BJ's opens a restaurant in eastlake. They know how to take care of customers....
sorry eastlake tavern...cool place but this is the last time I waste time showing up to your poorly run bar. When it's busy... You treat customers like dirt. Unprofesional and unacceptable.

This place is one of the worst places I've ever gone to that tries to pass itself as a Sports Bar.

First let me start off by saying that I've been to a lot of sports bars in my day but where does it say that the security guard at the door has to treat people like dirt...the guy was a jerk.

That wa the first impression I got when I stepped into this place. It is also the last time I ever go to this loser place...Oggi's, which is only a few miles away from the Tavern at least treats people with respect.

On a regular day, it's a cool place to catch a game and grab some grub.
On big fight nights, get there early because it gets packed!

The bowling areas are really cool and fun for a private party. It feels like there is no one else around when you're there with friends. The food is always decent.

It can be pricey, so be prepared.

It seems popular, and it almost seems cool....but:

Their food is average, typical frozen/fried, and just, well, sooo average.

Went there on a Thursday night, it was absolutely packed, but it took 15 minutes to get into the place, because the 19yr old (looking) guy outside couldn't let the three over 23 women that were with me, he must have looked at one of their ID's for ten minutes.

We went in, saw a bunch of people we knew, waited for service at the bar for 10 minutes (with easily, the best three looking women in the place...unbelievable), realized it was a joke to try and get any service here, and left.  Went to Bennigan's in MV, which unfortunately has gone downhill.   We drove 25 more mins to avoid waiting 15 in Eastlake for drinks and bar food.  That says something.

Ate leftover pizza and some multi-colored chips from here also last weekened while on the way to Heavenly cupcakes.  Decent pizza for a 2 hour old pizza, but it wasn't gonna win them any blue ribbons.

The girls had mostly positive things to say about the food, but that isn't this place's strong suit, it seems.

If you are in Eastlake and want to meet tons of people from many different cultural backgrounds, this may be the place, its super diverse, gotta give a thumbs up for that.  There are a ton of people.

I give props to this joint for opening up in suburbia Eastlake when a lot of homes in this neighborhood are left empty due to foreclosures.  It's about fifteen minutes away from my home, but I don't know if I'd ever randomly call my friends and say "Hey!  Let's go to Eastlake Tavern and Bowl!!!"  I'm single and don't have any kiddies of my own yet, but this place has a mad litter of them.  I love kids, but I don't know if I'd like to mix up my evening social activities with tweens and in Eastlake for that matter.

I was here last night for the first time and the first thing I noticed was the huge bar.  That alone will have me drink up there than at neighboring Brew House (where their service sucks!!) when I want to stay local.

They have a cool concept of having plasma TV's everywhere along with a DJ spinning on the weekends, but again, it's in suburbia.  For someone that likes to party it up in places other than Eastlake, I might find myself here again to meet some friends for a drink, but I'd be weary of the kids that use the bathroom and don't wash their hands...yes, that was witnessed twice with my own eyes.  Can we say H1N1-aphobe?
