This is a new sports bar, which is a great addition to Stanwood. Â I have been there several times and each one was a positive experience. Â Drinks are good, beer is cold and fresh. (It is obvious they clean their lines). Each time the server/bartender was personable, courteous and professional. Â I also met both owners, who are husband and wife, and they were friendly and helpful. Â We ordered food twice and it was very good.
Apparently named after their deceased dog, Edgar's is a spot to try out in Stanwood!
Yeah....that sums it up about this place. MEH....
I'm still trying to figure this place out. It's in a great location and since there are no other bar and grills in downtown stanwood, you think this place would hit it big time. It wasn't a big hit for me. It has about 100TV's and if you want the sports viewing thing...this is your place.
First off, what is with ALL THE BLUE PAINT?? It looks like a large blueberry threw up all over the place. I love blue and this is a dark, almost black blue. There is no natural lighting in this place except for the few front windows and it's like walking into a depressing cave. The owners should invest in $200 white paint and paint the hell out of this joint and lighten the place up for craps sake.
Also, who did the build out on this joint? It looks like they hired the local high school wood shop to build the booths. The one word to sum up the decor in this place: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!! The booths have unfinished rough wood on the edges and I got a splinter in my hand while getting in and out of the booth so be careful and watch that. The chairs all have scuffs on them and look like they are 25 years old and not new, that's for sure. The tables are mediocre. The bar is actually pretty nice and the one high spot of this place. The pool tables are nice too.
Next the food. Sadly, it's about as bad as the decor. I asked the waitress, who was nice and attentive, if the food was fresh. She had that blank look (you know the one...where the staff has NO idea about the food their kitchen serves) and "had to ask". Yep, no surprise there. All the burgers, fries, chicken, fish, EVERYTHING is pre frozen and NOTHING is fresh or made from scratch. SO....the name of this place should be "EDGERS FROZEN FOOD PALACE!" Ugh...this kitchen is the opitamy of LAZY! You should all be ashamed of yourself. How hard is it to make some fresh food????
Ugh. So I ordered the cheeseburger and fries. Yep, chewy and tough meat slathered with some mystery sauce with a fresh tomato and scary looking lettace. The fries were soggy, lukewarm and tasted like rubber. You know the taste.....
There is some seating for families and the other half of the bar is for the local yo yos who drive jacked up trucks and think they are high rollers after spending $3 on a draft beer. Don't get me wrong. I love dive bars. If they have great food and great prices, I'll be there all the time and don't give a crap what the place looks like as long as the food and service are top knotch. A great example of a place like this is the Conway Pub in Conway that has GREAT oysters and is a total dive joint but great food and great service. They get my money ALL the time.
Also, people smoke in front and back of this place and it's hard to go in the front/back door without walking through a haze of smoke. F'n annoying as all hell.
I like Stanwood and I'm DYING to see local business succeed and I'm ALWAYS ready to hand over my hard earned cash for FRESH, WELL made food. Why don't the local restaurant owners understand that is what people want and expect today? It just doesn't exist because owners are clueless and lazy a$$holes who think their own S$it doesn't stink. Luckily, there are place like yelp where the truth can be told and people forewarned.
SOOO...If you are stuck in this town, with a flat tire, no hotel and have to sleep in your car and this is the only place open to eat...have at it. I'm going home to cook a frozen burger and fries from costco and it'll be better than the crap they serve here.
You've been warned!!
