Very, very lovely little lounge in downtown Opelika that certainly deserves way more attention than it does. Don't let any of the pictures fool you because it's a very well lit-up lounge well furnished with colorful, decorative sofas that don't look like they've seen the bottoms of too many drunk college students.
The live music is very calming and jazzy. I really wished I stayed here longer but I was the youngest person here by at least 20 years except for the sushi chef.
Which by the way, you have to come for---I don't think I've ever had my sushi made by a white guy. It seemed so random that this lounge in the middle of downtown Opelika had anything remotely Asian to it. Anyway, this little lounge has a full bar and they serve sushi made by a white guy and cheesecake from the restaurant a few doors down. It's the weirdest combination ever but it works!
I ordered the volcano roll and the guy who made it did a surprisingly good job. It was wonderful talking to him about the different sushis, fishes that were delivered, and how he appreciated the freshness of seafood (while I tend to like all my food fried). The spiciness was just enough to be a flavor and honestly, the sushi was made well enough that I would have not known the difference of what nationality made this--what I'm trying to say is, this should be more reason for you to come here and try the food out, have a martini, relax to the nice music they have, and have a seat on one of their pretty sofas.
Finally a chill bar with aesthetic! Its on the smaller end but that kinda adds to the warmth of the place. Perfect for an after dinner drink if you don't want the large crowds or super loud music in most auburn bars. They sometimes have live laid-back music as well. The drink prices are about average.
Review Source:This is a very interesting place. It's part cafe, part bar, part music lounge. It was a shock to find a place like this in Opelika. I wish I had discovered it sooner.
Inside the place has a great ambiance. It's kinda edgy with a country feel to it. If that makes any sense. I liked it a lot. There is plenty of room inside to get comfortable. You don't feel crowded out like other bars. Big plus for me is that there is no smoking inside. What sets this place apart for me is the service everyone was the bartenders to the one cocktail waitress were attentive and I never had an issue ordering more of anything. They were always there when my cup was empty.
Start with the cafe part: The cakes are fresh and excellent. They do not bake their own but from what I understand they buy in from both New York and local bakeries. Don't expect to get a Starbucks style coffee here. They have alcoholic style coffee drinks or black coffee. But their plain black coffee was much much better than I expected. It was great black coffee and the Tuxedo cake we had was chocolaty and moist.
Now for the bar part: Good selection of alcohol and a good variety of Top shelf. I found the drinks were well made and generous.
Entertainment: They frequently have live bands perform. I believe they are all local bands. Nothing hardcore but you can relax, have a drink, cake or whatever and listen to live music. Doesn't really matter what kind to me. It is just laid back.
