Go in. They'll order fried chicken, fried okra and 2 beers for you on sight. Proceed to  sit down, enjoy some effing amazing fried chicken. Some advice: don't flaunt you're from the city and definitely don't ask if cowboys get into fights their. They don't, but they'll laugh if you ask them that.
Review Source:I still love this chicken!
I don't know where that Kaitlyn person got that the chicken costs $16. Â I was just there Friday, October 4 and its $14. Â And yeah, it does seem pricey since its a lot more than what I used to pay for it, but then again, so is everyone else. Â You would pay more at a high end restaurant for less chicken and smaller pieces, and you "might" pay less at a fast food joint that the chicken may be smaller and bland. Â A WHOLE chicken for $14, deep fried to perfection with amazing seasoning. Â It doesn't come with any real sides, just some bread slices that have been cut in half and a tray of bread and butter pickles, dill pickles and onion slices. Â
We bought two chickens and still only got one boat for the bread, and one for the relish (its what I call the pickle and onion boat). Â But when we did the orders to go, because you can't go and not have to get some for home to deliver to friends, you get a lot more, or it could be because we ordered so many that we got a loaf of white bread (no there is no other choice) and a tray of each relish. Â Go enjoy a nice drive, have some good fried chicken but don't waste too much time or the price will be up to the $16 that Kaitlyn exaggerated about. Â
Oh, and its not the free refill type of place you get a can of soda and a cup of ice.
We have gone to Eishens for 10 years and enjoy the drive there. It is about 40 minutes from OKC and we make it an early Saturday afternoon trip. If you wait to go later on Saturdays you run the chance of longer wait times before service because the bar gets really busy.
We go for the chicken and enjoy the okra that we order with it. There are no plates, your place mat is parchment paper and paper towels. You soda is served in cans but you can ask for a cup with ice.
The place is simple. The chicken is great. We enjoy taking our out of town friends there. We will continue to go back!
You have to accept Eischen's Bar for what it is.......It is an old establishment with alot of color and personality. Â It has some bad reviews for being greasy, gas station chicken and dirty but that is not what they are about or it is fair to them. Â We are from Fort Worth and have seen it featured several times on Triple D. Â Finally made the effort to get there and try it when we were visiting OU, because my husband grew up loving and eating fried chicken. Â He was not disappointed at all. Â None of us were. Â I took tums before we even ordered I was so scared of feeling greased out etc. Â No worries.....thought I would maybe eat one wing. Â Instead I ate four pieces and could have had more, but I don't eat fried food so was a little worried. It looks a little greasy in some of the pics submitted, but it was not at all. (In the context of fried chicken) Â It was served super hot, it was very juicy and crispy and I just can't imagine what more you would want with fried chicken. Â Some in our group wanted honey, which they don't serve so bring your own if you are dependent on honey. Â It is served with onion and pickles and white bread, which I thought was fun. Â We only ordered the okra, but not being a southern girl I thought it was good and crispy and crunchy. Â My group thought it was a little well done, but I guess it is just personal.
So we did have to drive an hour from Norman to get there, but it was fun and I am glad we did it. Â We bought T-shirts and have a good memory for taking the trip. Â I will say it was a Tuesday at noon and there was a sign that said it can take up to two hours to get fried chicken on the week-end so be prepared.
For a couple reviews they were wrong about the price.....it's $14.00 and you get 8 pieces of chicken....they have no problem  splitting a basket and personally none of us could eat 8 nice size pieces.  Four of us and we took 3 pieces home.
I live in Mustang,so it's not a short drive. I used to love Eischen's,until their Chicken went up to 16 dollars and got significantly "smaller". Their nachos are probably the best thing on the menu. The seating is terrible,so if you're planning on going you need to get there pretty early. Other than that it's okay.
Review Source:I've always loved Eishcen's, perhaps so much that I'm willing to overlook a few things in exchange for such a lovely little slice of Americana - a fun road trip, a cool little town, and such an American meal. Fried chicken, fried okra, white bread, pickles and onions, and a cold, delicious 3.2 beer. What more could you ask for in a roadside dive? I'm about to tell ya!
I would happily add a fifth star if they took credit cards. The fact that they don't take cards doesn't add to its charm, trust me. I'd also absolutely love it if they would institute a little bit better system for seating. Locals and regulars seem to have no problem hauling ass right past a family of four with a few grandparents in tow to make their way to vulture over a table not quite finished with their supper. Couldn't some cute local gal make a few extra bucks as a hostess? Oh well, you go for the chicken, not the friendly service! I'll still be back as long as my arteries will allow it.
Return visit for a birthday lunch. We arrived at around noon and plopped ourselves on an empty bench. A few kids that looked like they should be in school were sitting close by. The place wasn't very crowded. It was a Monday. Go figure!
Ordered the usual- chicken, okra, pickles and onions, bread.... Still don't like the bread BUT I have to say the chicken and okra tasted 10x's better. We ordered a whole chicken to go! Warmed it up in the oven at home- didn't taste as good, but still edible! I think the key to getting the best quality here is to come on a not so busy day and time.
Personally, I have no idea how people could say this chicken is dry and tasteless. Â I've been twice and both times it has been very fresh, juicy and seasoned perfectly.
Also, this is a dive bar. Â In a small town. Â In Oklahoma. Â It's going to take a minute to get there. Â People might stare at you. Â Again, it's a BAR. Â Don't we all look at people in bars? Â However, I've never noticed the staring that has been referenced, I guess I was too busy enjoying myself and the chicken.
This place is very simple. Â Soda is served in a can. Â Really your only other choice of food is chili. Â Service is iffy (I think because they are always so busy). Â But it's a great destination if you live in the area.
It can get super busy at lunch time, so plan ahead. Â And come hungry, you get a LOT of food!
Also in the 'planning ahead' tips, they do not take credit cards, so bring cash!
I don't get it. How did this restaurant get featured on the Food Network??? I may be one of the very few people who did not like the food. First off, it took about an hour to get to this town - it was located in the middle of nowhere. My friends and I arrived in time for dinner. As soon as we stepped inside, about every head in the room turned toward us. What? You've never seen a group of Asians before?? Geezus, enough with the staring. Apparently that's a common practice here because other reviewers have commented on this.
A whole chicken cost around $11 - we ordered  3 along with bread, okra, fries, and pickles. The chicken was so greasy and not good at all. I tasted more fat than meat. The rest of the food tasted all right, nothing to rave about. I'm not even sure what kind of ambiance they were going for. It was part dive bar and part family restaurant. Floors, tables, and restrooms were dirty as heck.
Usually, hole in the wall restaurants have great food. Unfortunately, Eischen's did not pull that off. I don't feel like it's worth the drive at all.
This is 40 minutes from OKC. Â Take outs should be called in because there is a wait and the patrons will stare a hole in you.
According to their website, this current bldg they are in was built in 1993, the original bldg had burned down. Â
About the chicken, it was just ok. Â Kind of bland. Â Nice golden color to it and juicy and really greasy. Â I've had better at other places. Â Not really worth the 40 minute drive. Â But it does start to taste a little better when it sits for awhile (since you can't eat the whole chicken at once). Â
The waitstaff could be a little more attentive. Â They kind of run around handling money and fixing food at the same time w/out washing their hands.
Didn't really like the drive out there. Â Alot of barren land in between and the wind picks up like crazy and the embankments pretty steep, so be careful in your drive.
Good chicken, not the best I've ever had.
Crunchy and crispy, and especially greasy. I went through 8 cheap o napkins. Either less grease, or better napkins please!
Known as the oldest bar in Oklahoma, it certainly has enough dirt to show for it. I would probably stop in if I was in the area, but I wouldn't make it my final destination.
Chicken! Chicken! Chicken! Â Four stars for the Chicken. 2 stars for the rest of the bar. Oh, the Okra is also very yummy. I'm so fortunate to be able to travel the country and eat at some amazing places. In this case, my amazement was discovering the best fried chicken I have ever eaten in one of the best representations of a "Dive Bar". What else could a foodie desire? :-)
Review Source:1) This is a BAR.A semi-dive BAR
2) Bar's have limited menu's
3) If you get the above you're good to go.
Sit your a$$'s down, have a beer and order some stuff to eat. If you need another beer, go to the bar. Very simple.
Is the food the best you've ever had? No.
Is the beer cold? Yes.
Do they offer more than nuts and popcorn? Hell yes!
Eischens has fried chicken, fried okra, nachos, sliced white bread, and a bar. Once you walk in, you have to find your own seating. You might end up having to sit at a table with people you don't know. Service is pretty good, once you find a seat. The food is what it is, but you don't just go for the food, you go for the experience. You have to be ready for some grease. The plates are wax paper so they are pretty eco friendly. I'd give it a 3.5. I'll be back, I'm sure.
Review Source:Before I start my review, let me address some of the big points mentioned in other reviews. I hate sifting through BS so let me do the dirty work for you. This place is stuck in another century when it comes to payment so the fact that they do not accept credit or debit is a bit unnerving. I guess I lucked out on a Friday night because I didn't have a hard time finding a table at all. All of the free tables were littered with other people's stuff so just accept that when you sit down, they will clean while you are there. They don't have a menu, just a mention of food on the walls. They also serve beer but there isn't a list which is another low point.
FOOD
Don't get the nachos as they are absolutely disgusting and compare to ballpark stuff. If you get more than chicken and okra then you are wasting your money. The chicken is VERY good and I was very surprised at that. I had always heard at how good it was but never really thought anything of it. They give you bread and a pickle plate to come with it too. They mix sweet and sour pickles as well so if you are one of those people like me that thinks sweet pickles are terrible then make sure to stay away.
There was this weird green sawdust on the floor too. Kinda weird. Aside from the disgusting pickle mix, nachos, and awkward seating it was a great experience. I would have given this place a 2 or 3 but the chicken is good enough that it gets a 4. Yes, I said it. Without the chicken, this place is a dump.
That being said, you should check it out for the chicken.
If you're looking for 5-star dining and a high-end waitstaff, look elsewhere. That's not what Eischen's is about. Instead, what you'll find is rural-style dining at it's best; Sawdust on the floors, canned drinks, long cookout-style tables, and country charm, along with the best fried chicken and okra around, of course.
Succulent doesn't even begin to describe this chicken. The many times that we've been, the chicken's never been "off."
Billed as the oldest bar in Oklahoma, this place has history and charm, so get yourself to Okarche and dig in. It's a family favorite for us!
Best chicken ever. Seriously every bite gets better and better. Just ate at Gus's chicken in Memphis Tenn and I don't think it even touches Eishen's. The only reason this place doesn't get five stars is the wait staff. Most of the times I have been there they seem like they could care less. As well they don't take credit cards. Nice little ATM racket for the bank around the corner to charge some fees. Seriously this is all about the chicken. To good to be true. This will be the best fried chicken you will ever have at a restaurant, unless your mama's last name is Eischen. Off the beaten path but well worth the drive. I also recommend the chili cheese nachos and the okra. I am not one for restaurant chili usually. This chili is an exception. The next time you think chicken you should think Okarche and Eischen's.
Review Source:Surprised to see number of 2 and 3 star ratings on YELP for Eishen's Bar in beautiful downtown Okarche! Â It is one of those places that is best defined as "it is what it is", and to me that is a local watering hole filled with both OU and OSU fans (living in harmony, I might add) that just happens to make THE VERY BEST darned fried chicken I have ever eaten.....better than Babes in DFW....there, I said it! Â Sacrilegious, I know....even now my mouth is watering as I think of a hot serving of Eishen's fried chicken on a cold rainy day like today.....too bad Okarche is a half a tank of gas from Keller...but maybe!!!!!
The concept is solid....a few menu items, lots of places to sit, and you come to Eishens to eat fried chicken and fried okra off of paper spread out on well-worn folding tables...and drink copious amounts of cold domestic beer....what could be more American?!?!?! Â Simple concept....great place.....AWESOME fried chicken....give it a try! Â And take a designated driver and lots of cash....it is a jaunt from OKC! Â GO POKES!!!!
Fried Chicken: Â dredged and floured with a hint of seasoning, served hot, maybe too hot as the meat is dry; not sure what animal I eat, maybe cornish hen or something I hit on the way. Seemed to be missing two key elements: Â Buttermilk and peanut oil.
Frito Pie: an 8 oz layer of Fritos, 2 oz of a beef, bean, and flour based chili, and 4 oz of american cheese.
Fried Okra: crumb flour based and deep fried. Missing flavor and crispiness.
Nachos: 8 oz of store bought chips, canned nacho sauce, and the aforementioned chili. This must be a new item as they have not figured out how to cover the chips yet still have that crispy crunch.
Decor: Wow, 70s style diner, with stained covered ceiling tiles and tables and chairs that came straight out of a yard sale. The facade might be from the 19th century, but that is about it. Ok, maybe the staff as well. What's with the Budweiser banners, really, really...
Service: It was a reality check, I kept thinking what Twilight Zone episode I was in ( most likely the one where the waiter was an alien).
Price: Uh, $13.00 for a 10 oz fried chicken, really, really... I mean there can't be much overhead at least from what I saw. Maybe they're confused of what City they live in; because, last I checked, I didn't see a 90120 zip code
Good place with good food, but nothing remarkable. I love the simplicity of their menu. I think it was only 8 items and it was written on their napkin dispenser.
Big portions. So, either bring a friend or be prepared to take stuff home.
It took about a half hour to drive out there and I'd say it was worth it. If I lived in the same town I would definitely frequent this place, but with it requiring an hour round trip I doubt I'll make a second trip out there during my 4 months in oklahoma.
We were told this was the best fried chicken ever so naturally it peaked our curiosity so we had to try it while we were in Oklahoma. I'm sorry to report back that this was NOT and I repeat NOT the best fried chicken that I've ever had. If I had to find a close comparison, I would say that it's close to something you'd buy at a local supermarket or Albertsons. I'm not sure if I'd come back and wait in the long lines to find a table to sit at. Everything about this whole experience was different. You walk into a bar or dive dingy bar and you wait in a line to grab your own table. It just seems very unorganized to me and if you have kids with you, you can forget about finding a table b/c you have to stand over people eating and make them feel uncomfortable so they'll leave faster.
Also, you have to wave down your waiters because they don't know new from old customers. Once you place in your order - 1, 2, 3 whole fried chickens, nachos, french fries or cut up fried okra then your orders place in the queue and it takes about 45 mins until you can eat. It's best if you call in to place your order and upon arriving and sitting down, you can tell your waiter you called in the order and the chicken will come out just in time. Whole chickens will cost you around $12 which comes with pickles and pickled onions. This place is a cash establishment only so make sure you have enough cash on hand.
***MAKE SURE YOU HAVE CASH ON HAND***
They do not accept plastic.
Ok, now on with the review.
I am a big fan of fried chicken, which this place is known for. Eischen's Bar is supposedly the best place to get fried chicken in Oklahoma. Â Eischen's Bar is located in a small town called Okarche which is about 30 minutes away from Oklahoma City. Eischen's Bar has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network.
The atmosphere has a dark "hole in the wall" look to it. Looking at the menu they only have 8 items total. The majority of the items listed on the menu were more like bar style food like nachos, fritos chili pie, fried okra and etc. Â So, I got the fried chicken, obviously. Â Servicewise there was only one waitress, one food server and a bartender working. Going at the time that we did which was around noon, we had hit the lunch rush hour. So service was not given at a timely manner. Â Receiving our food took nearly 45 minutes.
The fried chicken overall was decent. Â To say its the best chicken in Oklahoma City is probably going a little too far. I will say though that the fried chicken came out hot, fresh, and juicy. The skin was so crisp, Â but, the taste of it was just a little too plain for my tastebuds. Along with the fried chicken they give you complimentary sides of bread, onions, and two types of dill pickle chips (The sweet and spicy pickle chips were delicious.)
A-OK experience overall. Â This is definitely something that you could make a little Sunday trip out of.
Great food, great beer, great times! Â Any one from Oklahoma has most def dabbled in Eischen's chicken with a side of fried okra and a couple of pitchers of beer. Â Gotta drive out there if you haven't been here or if your are just in town for a bit.
FYI - The whole chicken race is always a good way to see who's the man out of your friends. Â Rules: Â Order a whole chicken to your self and then crush it. Â See ya at the finish line.
Ok... Eichen's was freaking AWESOME!! The whole atmosphere of the place was awesome and even the drive out there was fun! we even saw some shooting stars!!!
the chickn and the okra was phenomenal! we kept making crispy chicken sandwiches with ranch using the bread that comes with it! it was truly an awesome place and well worth the drive to Okarche!! quaint little town! I kinda felt like i was in Smallville!!
For 5 people we had: 2 whole chickens, 2 things of okra, 1 pitcher of beer, and 2 sodas.. the whole dinner costs us $45. thats IT! 45 for 5 people???! AWESOME!
they only serve water, soda and beer. and by beer i mean, Coors and Bud Light.
CASH ONLY so dont try to your credit cards..
no plates or silverware-- one of the coolest things about the place!
very chill place!
HIGHLY recommended!
People who claim not to like the world famous Eischen's need to get their head examined. Â Here is a list of things NOT to complain about
--sawdust on the floor. Â This is part of the experience
--the fried chicken. Â This is the best part about the place. Â Never have I had such juicy, flavorful, crisp, melt in your mouth chicken as I did here. Â Delicious.
--the fact they only take cash. Â Hey, this is the oldest bar in Oklahoma. Â They've been around since the 1880's. Â Give them a chance to catch up.
--the lack of a hostess. Â Yes, you have to seat yourself and therefore find an open table or booth. Â Quit crying.
--the lack of plates and silverware. Â You have to eat off butcher paper. Â If you have to have plates and silverware then why are you eating here in the first place? Â
--the crappy beer selection. Â Okay, I give you this one. Â I was happy to find upon arrival that they had more than just Coors Light (which is what I was originally told was all that they had) on draft because you can also get, uh, Bud Light. Â A tiny step up. Â
When ordering your food don't forget the fried okra which is amazing. Â Also, your dinner comes with a large helping of sliced raw onions, white bread, and sweet and dill pickles. Â
And the price: Â cheap!! Â Our table of 8 people had several pitchers of beer, several whole chickens, a couple of orders of okra, a couple of chili cheese nacho appetizer orders and the total tab was $75.
I love looking at the ratings from my fellow yelpers about Eischens and never have a seen any other restaurant have such polar reviews. Â It's either great or horrible.
Born and proudly raised in Oklahoma, so I of course have heard about the Legend of Eischens. Â Its this mythical place that serves "the best fried chicken ever". Â I disagree. Â Completely. Â
When I rate places, I typically only factor in how the food tastes for my ranking. Â For Eischen's and in particular the distance from Oklahoma City, I will make an exception. Â It is not worth it to drive 30+ minutes out to rural Oklahoma to go to Eischens. Â Some food is worth long drives. Â This was a letdown. Â Of epic proportions.
Eischen's one good quality about their food is that they serve it in a very down to earth manner. Â No glitz needed. Â Which I love. Â They also give humongous portions. Â Unfortunately, its just a big fried chicken to me. Â Yes, they do fry it right so that the breast is moist but I don't think they season it much at all. Â I didn't have many bites before my mouth grew tired of the chicken. Â Moist but plain. Â I had to douse my chicken with ketchup and tobasco sauce so I could eat more but that's just because I was feeling stupid/guilty for coming all the way out here and not eating more. Â Their okra is different, I think they smoke it. Â It was good but I prefer the normal method of serving it.
I came here for the famous chicken. Â I left wishing I had gone to Bobo's instead.
Listen: Â This place is not worth the drive from OKC, seriously!. Â
The waitress is rude, waits till you sit down then tells you to move to another booth although she was not doing anything when you came in and could have told you before you were seated.
The chicken is not all that great, I grew up in OKC and  never heard of this place.  It wasn't that bad but is not worth driving the 30 minutes out of OKC. Stick with KFC if you are looking for chicken.
Making the drive to Eischen's is a right of passage for anyone who grows up around OKC. Â Having been several times, though, I'm sorry to say that it just isn't worth the hype. Â If you live in OKC, sure, you should try it at least once... but cross your fingers that you don't get sick. Â The last (as in NEVER AGAIN) time I went, I must've had a half-cooked chicken or something... I was sick for two days. Â Now I'm not claiming to be iron stomached, but it's pretty rare that I get food poisoning. Â Come to find out, at least three of my friends have gotten just as ill on three separate occasions. Â I don't give out one-star reviews frivolously, but this is probably the only restaurant that I will never visit again.
On the plus side, the fried okra is mighty tasty. Â It does make for a fun weekend outing, just be sure to bring some pepto if you decide to go.
This has got to be the nastiest place in Oklahoma. And what's with no credit cards accepted? Can we have a hollar for a nice tax write off?? Holla!
What's with all the green sh*t on the floor?is it to soak up all the grease and spilt beer? Hmm.
Yeah, I was totally grossed out to say the very least.
Luckily we live in Austin, otherwise we would be rotund from eating too much of Eischen's fried chicken. Â By far the best fried chicken I have ever had. Super flavorful, not greasy, juicy, and wonderful.
Coming from OKC the journey is half of the experiance. Â Rolling out from the "big city" to tiny little okarche gave me a real taste of Oklahoma and I can't wait till next time we make it back.
Another great trip to Eischens. Â We get to go here once a year while we're visiting and it never disappoints. Â The menu is small, because they do 1 thing and do it well. Â It's fried chicken! Â The whole thing, breast, wings, thighs and drumsticks, juicy and super flavorful and not greasy at all. Â Forget those boring old grilled chicken breasts that my family eats on a regular basis, every once and awhile you need fried chicken. Â The fried okra is always perfectly cooked. Â Somehow, the white onion, slices of white bread and combination of dill and bread and butter pickles are perfect together. Â Sounds weird but it works. Â We also tasted the Frito Chili Pie and barbeque brisket sandwich on the visit and they were tasty as well. Â
My dad got a beer on tap and when I asked what imports they had, the bartender said "we only have 3.2 beer here" Â I forgot we were in Oklahoma for a minute. Â Shiner Bock did the trick.
They also have pool tables and games to keep the little ones happy. Â The Pick Em' Up game was a success for the 3 and 8 year olds in our party. Â It just took my daughter a minute to get used to the sawdust (not litter material?!? I don't even know what that is) on the floor. Â We had very friendly, talkative service, especially for how busy they always are. I guess they treat you the way you treat them, like most wait staff. Â ALWAYS busy, Monday night, Friday night, it doesn't matter.
Some other reviews have said  it's "not their kind of place".  I guess if you don't like good food and even better people watching then it's not for you.  It's just a little slice of life in small town Oklahoma, it's certainly not fine dining.  You have to go in knowing what to expect.
I was so excited to try this place when we moved closer to it. Â I had been hearing about it for 6 years and knew people who would drive hours to eat there.
So underwhelmed. Â The drive there was nice. Â Then we get there. Â First, there is no direction that I noticed to seat yourself. Â I hate the awkward feeling of "Do we just sit? I don't know. Maybe someone will tell us". Â We just sat at the bar. Â The place had a really weird vibe. Â I don't know how to explain it, but it made me feel unwelcome. Â I was excited for the hubby to try the chicken, but I don't really care for meat on the bone. Â Then we saw the price. Â Like 10 dollars for some chicken? And we already paid Bricktown prices for some Bud Light? Â Since I didn't want to split it we both got nachos. Â And they were the same nachos my highschool concession stand sold at football games. Â Absolutely foul. Â We sort of picked at it and then paid and got outta there.
I don't know, maybe the chicken is awesome, but that hardly makes up for the distance and vibe.
Eischen's Bar is the perfect place to unwind and soak in the Oklahoma glory. The ride to the small town of Okarche yields abandoned buildings along the highway, cows standing in groups in the shade, and a cowboy couple riding their trusty steeds in the late sunlight. Yee haw! Eischens is the cherry on the Midwestern sundae, the creme de la creme of the red dirt state, the de facto standard of all bars Oklahoman. Â
So obviously you're starving by the time you get all the way to Okarche. Yes, Okarche is far from anywhere. Nothing's going to fix your grumblin' better than fried okra, fried chicken, and a slew of sweet and salty pickles. Eischen's has heard your call, and they're happy to serve it up with a cold pitcher of beer. Or two, if you sit at my table.
A full chicken is $11, fried okra $5.50, while the pickles, marinated onions, and sliced white bread are complimentary. If you order the way we order, dinner is $62 bucks. Hear me now: $62 - that's less than $15 per person with tip. 3 chickens, 2 okras, 2 pitchers of beer, 2 sodas, and a lot of napkins. The chicken is a steaming pile of deep fried glory, and the okra adds the perfect amount of "vegetable" to the thick crunchy batter (yes, I put vegetable in quotes because it's absolutely NOT healthy), and the pickles and onions give you just enough coating to keep the batter from burning through your stomach lining. The beer's cool and 3.0, so you can guzzle away without getting too wasted to enjoy the Eischen's ambiance.
Been all over the the U.S., had the Chicken and Waffles, had some fancy gourmet fried chicken, but Eischen's is still the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. Â I am not prone to exaggeration. Â Okarche is one of those towns where if you blink you might drive right past it, and Eischen's is probably the only thing that could put it on the map. Â
They fry the whole chicken for you to order, and serve it up piping hot, the chicken is so moist, even the white meat leaves juices running down your fingers. Â Whatever the secret is, they're obviously not telling because you can't find fried chicken like this anywhere else. Â Wash it down with some cold beer and give the fried okra a try too while you're out there.
It's definitely out of the way, so only the most dedicated fried chicken lovers ever find it, but there is no shortage of fried chicken lovers in Oklahoma. Â The place is usually packed at lunch and dinner. Â You might get lucky and squeeze in between the rushes if you aim for 2-5.
Unless the prices have recently skyrocketed I don't know why this has a two $$ rating, the whole chicken was only $9 last time I checked, and a side of fried okra $5. Â You might not want to share your chicken, but the okra can certainly be passed around.
