Excellent food, great waitresses/waiters, and excellent prices. The neighborhood is a bit shady, but this is, by far, my most favorite Mexican restaurant in Whatcom County. We try to go as often as possible. I highly recommend their Carne Asada Y Mas. Come prepared for generous servings! The pico de gallo is amazing! And for dessert their sopapillas are to die for, light, airy, fluffy and not overly sweet. Love this place!
Review Source:You just don't find restaurants like El Amigo in Canada. If I lived in Bellingham, I probably wouldn't frequent this place, but I kind of like it because I am from north of the border. Mexican restaurants in British Columbia are often owned and operated by non-Mexicans, and they usually serve Tex-Mex style dishes rather than mundane Mexican meals. Complete with bright colours, repetitive mariachi music, and a fully Mexican staff, El Amigo offers up the real deal: good customer service and succulent meat inside of tortillas. This is what it is all about. It is basic, affordable, and pretty healthy without the sides of rice and beans. Our table ordered the Small Combo #4 and the Nacho Junior Burrito. Both dishes were under $10, well prepared, and perfect matches for some ice cold Pacifico. No, El Amigo is not worth going out of your way for, but they *can* offer a dining experience that you can't get outside of Mexico and the US.
Review Source:Food here is great!! Super friendly service and good prices. The Catina is a small  cozy, dimly lit, little hide out for a margarita and appetizer.  Chips are thin and crispy, not over cooked. Salsa is so good. My favorite dishes are the Carne asada, served for lunch too! Cheese dip app is not so Mexican, but yummy with Chorizo and jalapenos. A friend loves the Huevo Rancheros. Its very clean, kitchen too. We go there 2 times a week!! Only negative -  the typical decor.
Review Source:You can tell the minute you walk in that these folks love what they do. Â The food is great and the menu has plenty of house specialties and offerings that go beyond the standard Mexican fare. Â The service is friendly and they're happy to share a story and welcome you back.
Breakfast on weekends is amazing. Â I wouldn't have thought to try a Mexican restaurant, so we were really surprised to find several kinds of Eggs Benedict and items you find at a fancy hotel breakfast.
