Excellent food, great waitresses/waiters, and excellent prices. The neighborhood is a bit shady, but this is, by far, my most favorite Mexican restaurant in Whatcom County. We try to go as often as possible. I highly recommend their Carne Asada Y Mas. Come prepared for generous servings! The pico de gallo is amazing! And for dessert their sopapillas are to die for, light, airy, fluffy and not overly sweet. Love this place!
Review Source:You just don't find restaurants like El Amigo in Canada. If I lived in Bellingham, I probably wouldn't frequent this place, but I kind of like it because I am from north of the border. Mexican restaurants in British Columbia are often owned and operated by non-Mexicans, and they usually serve Tex-Mex style dishes rather than mundane Mexican meals. Complete with bright colours, repetitive mariachi music, and a fully Mexican staff, El Amigo offers up the real deal: good customer service and succulent meat inside of tortillas. This is what it is all about. It is basic, affordable, and pretty healthy without the sides of rice and beans. Our table ordered the Small Combo #4 and the Nacho Junior Burrito. Both dishes were under $10, well prepared, and perfect matches for some ice cold Pacifico. No, El Amigo is not worth going out of your way for, but they *can* offer a dining experience that you can't get outside of Mexico and the US.
