El Capara Mexican Restaurant

Stopped here after a day of racing at VMP. Was worth it. Salsa was good. Margaritas were large and tasty. Price was more than fair. Authentic Mexican. No complaints.

Authentic homestyle Mexican food. El Caporal has locations in Richmond, Colonial Heights (near Walmart), and Dinwiddie/Petersburg. I visited the Dinwiddie/Petersburg location at the recommendation at the recommendation of friends. First visit, I ordered the Pollo Sabroso (grilled chicken with shredded chorizo bits) and Carnitas (chopped pork shoulder) on my second visit. Both meals offered well-prepared generous portions, with rice, beans, and tortillas. Excellent service, and the food didn't feel heavy or greasy. El Caporal served some of the best Mexican food that I've had outside the Mexican communities in NYC.

Great authentic Mexican food.  Worth the drive.
