El Mexicano

Every time we drive North East, we stop at this fantastic little restaurant (it has changed names). They have excellent homemade salsa and chips and the food is always good. The servers are friendly, and the service is just right. The gift shop area is gone and more tables have taken their place. I don't know what's with these bad reviews either, but I've eaten at this place about five times over the years and it has always been a treat. We have excellent Mexican food in Tucson and I think they are just as good as many places we frequent.

It may not be the fanciest or cleanest place in town, but the food is really good! The menudo was just spicy enough and the tripe was sooo soft. The chili rellano was really good and tasted of fresh Hatch chili, not overbearing of cheese. They even had homemade flour tortillas. I will definitely stop by again.

I'm honestly puzzled by the bad reviews.  No, it's not a fancy place, but the food I had was delicious (a bowl of green chile).  Maybe someone else was cooking that day and knew their stuff.  My husband and I loved it and we can be picky as we're restaurant owners.  I'd recommend it to anyone.
