Every time we drive North East, we stop at this fantastic little restaurant (it has changed names). They have excellent homemade salsa and chips and the food is always good. The servers are friendly, and the service is just right. The gift shop area is gone and more tables have taken their place. I don't know what's with these bad reviews either, but I've eaten at this place about five times over the years and it has always been a treat. We have excellent Mexican food in Tucson and I think they are just as good as many places we frequent.
Review Source:It may not be the fanciest or cleanest place in town, but the food is really good! The menudo was just spicy enough and the tripe was sooo soft. The chili rellano was really good and tasted of fresh Hatch chili, not overbearing of cheese. They even had homemade flour tortillas. I will definitely stop by again.
Review Source:I'm honestly puzzled by the bad reviews. Â No, it's not a fancy place, but the food I had was delicious (a bowl of green chile). Â Maybe someone else was cooking that day and knew their stuff. Â My husband and I loved it and we can be picky as we're restaurant owners. Â I'd recommend it to anyone.
Review Source:They have a gift shop with - guess what - chile peppers painted on mugs, glasses, plates, salt and pepper shakers. ok, not original but at least it's a one stop shopping.
I've had much better red chile burritos elsewhere, the disappointing thing was not just the quality but I ordered green chile.
Others in the part really enjoyed the chile relleno burritos. Â I have a feeling some things on the menu are better than others. It is cheap and that's a plus.
Hatch is not a big place, I have  a feeling you'll just eat at what ever place has an empty seat or one of the few roadside carts. After all some of them do cartwheels for your business.  Besides, you're not going for the gourmet cuisine, you're going so you can celebrate the chile pepper.
