Most of the restaurants in Fredericksburg close early on weekdays but we found they close even earlier on 4th of July. We passed El Milagro on our way to another restaurant and heard the music from the street. Well it turned out the kitchen closed at the intended restaurant so we decided to give El Milagro a shot. We sat on the patio which had a nice breeze and great view of the one man band.
Although they have a large breakfast, lunch and diner menu, they were doing a limited BBQ menu only for the holiday. Your choice of beef ribs, brisket sliders or pulled pork sliders. Noticing the large portions Jesse and I opted to share the brisket sliders. The wine and beer selection were not too shabby. I ordered a malbec and Jesse ordered a patriotic Samuel Adam's Boston Lager. The sliders were a nice portion and served with thick authentic tortilla chips. The sliders were chopped brisket and covered in an excellent BBQ sauce.
I enjoyed my 4th of July dinner here and would return. The musician was great, the atmosphere appealing and the food decent but I have to dock a star for the service. I do not think I am a hard customer to please especially at a causal restaurant but our waitress was not on top of things. For starters she forgot what I ordered both food and drink wise. I had to ask for an extra plate and some napkins (since we were sharing messy BBQ). When it came to our bill she forgot to bring it 3 times.
Homemade and made when you order! Best breakfast in Fredericksburg. Try the French toast. The bread was made that very morning. Bakery window is amazing. Scones made that morning and oozing with jam. :) love love love. It is hidden behind the Fredericksburg brewery so keep your eyes peeled for a tiny sidewalk. I can't believe it is so cheap! $6 for most things on the menu! I will definitely be coming back. Wish we ha one in dallas!
Review Source:This used to be Sugar and Smoke. Â I loved that place, but this is better! We have been there twice for lunch and the food and service are consistently wonderful! The waitstaff is fast and friendly. Â The food is amazing!! The desserts and pastries are some of the best we have ever eaten. Â The atmosphere inside is great, but you can't beat their patio on a beautiful day. Â The fact that the courtyard is blocked off from the street keeps traffic noises away.
Review Source:Some friends and I came here on a Saturday night on our visit in Fredericksburg! Apparently they reopened just recently and had free beer on that particular Saturday, as well as live music with what seemed like an open mic.
Their beer selection was pretty extensive (all bottled) with a max of 2 per person, and they had two cases of pastries that were delicious. We got a personal blueberry pie for our birthday girl and the guest singer was kind enough to dedicate a song to her.
Lovely atmosphere that reminded me a lot of Austin--felt like you were in someone's backyard, quaintly strung lights throughout the trees, and an upper patio deck with an ample amount of chairs for lounging to the max.
This bakery/lounge/music venue is family owned and run. The owner is extremely friendly and looking to provide a great place for people to hang out. Great visit and I look forward to seeing them become more and more successful!
