Fredericksburg has multiple places to have a glass of wine in.  And House Wine is no different in the pricing of said wine.  $15 seems to be a standard price for any proprietor which recommends a glass.  I ended up getting a decent glass of pinot grig which I believe came in around $9 ish.  One thing is if you are staying in F-Burg, you may want to opt to get a bottle or better still, stop off at one of the many wineries and pick up a bottle, enjoy it at your hotel or B&B and then head out to House Wine.

House Wine has a modern upscale feel to it.  There were many places to sit and relax while having a swig or the ol grapes.  On the night that we were there, we enjoyed a great live set from a young lad by the name of Josh.  The bar was well lit, in that  I mean the ambiance was nice.  There bar itself is pretty large and I enjoyed sitting at the bar chatting with the owner and then the bartender.  Suzie drifted towards the entrance and stretched out in a big old leather chair and enjoyed the tunes.

It was nice to see that all the wines were available by the glass.  I strongly suggest you ask what the price is before your order the glass.  I had a little bit of a sticker shock when we got our tab, since we would of definitely had some savings if we just bought a bottle of red and white and corked the remainder for another day.  However, we did venture out back in and was able to buy a bottle champagne for our morning mimosa's.  It was a good value.  Probably will wander in if we are in town again.. then again there seems to be several similar places around town we may check out before coming back.

I'm a Fredericksburg local and this is my favorite bar.  The owner, Todd, and all of the employees are friendly and super knowledgable.  No matter what type of mood I'm in I describe what I'm thinking and they'll bring taste after taste until I settle on something.  I love the ambiance also, nicely lit bar area, great lounge area in the front and a cute little patio out back - something for everyone.  I do wish there were more and better food options, but they will allow you to order food from neighboring restaurants, so you really can't complain too much.  Definitely not an inexpensive evening, but always a fun one.

After an afternoon of wine tasting, touring, shopping, and dinner, we were walking out of Auslander to our car to go back to our room when we heard the sound of live music, and turned back to see where it came from. We stumbled into a little piece of wine-music heaven! An extremely talented jazz quartet (The Lampshades) was playing, there were couches and chairs for seating up front, and a wine bar in the back. A red couch happened to be open, so we sat ourselves down and ordered two glasses of wine, both of which were EXCELLENT, and moderately priced. At break, Josh, the vocalist, came over and introduced himself. Very un-assuming band, as was the place, given all that they had to offer. I hesitate to write this review because I don't want the place to be too crowded when we go back to Fred! LOVED this place.
--- As a side note, after reading some other reviews here, I do remember the first time we saw this place, we thought the staff was snotty.  There were several hot girls sitting at the bar, getting lots of attention, but when hubby and I opened the door, they said that indeed they were closed (to be fair, it was indeed 5 minutes after closing time). If I were still as young as those girlies, they would've let me in.  No likey the snob part. Have to bump it down one star.  But the night we were there in May 2012, everything was perfect.
