My wife and I had high hopes on behalf of the others that had past experiences with El rodeo. My burrito was good I thought it could have used a bit more chicken. My wife got the chicken fajitas. She said the chicken had a good flavor and the rice was good as well. I had ordered a chicken taco but when we got home and sat down it was not with our order. Bummer.
Review Source:Most amazing most authentic place ever! You know it's real because it's run by family and you feel like family as soon as you walk in. You need to understand, real Mexican tacos are very simple. Corn tortillas, cilantro, red onion is all you need.
If you don't know what horchata is, you need to go to El Rodeo ASAP. Go! now!
A lot of local circulars enticed us over the first few months following their opening, but all coupons had expired by the time we made it - hopefully that means people are taking to it. We stopped by on the Saturday afternoon preceding Sandy and placed and order before they got East-Moriches-busy, cited a 10-minute wait time (materialized into 20+) for a few items. The menu is unapologetically meat-heavy, refreshing like their beverages. Went against my best judgment and asked if they could do the pozole sans meat and they conceded so I felt compelled to get it since I immediately regretted the decision to even ask, knowing I shouldn't have for a panoply of reasons. (Granted, the veg substitution was better than the alternative of 4 cheese tacos I suppose) The young guy taking our order was friendly but they were out of pecan so I couldn't get the shake I was hoping for, settling on the tamarind juice (and a mora shake) instead. The soup was a 3 (respectable given it lacked the main flavor components - though not really, since there were shreds of meat that they clearly just failed to take out - fortunately I'm not too high-maintenance on this subject), but the customer-centric policy and the potential is a 4.
Review Source:Very good authentic Mexican food. They have a pretty extensive menu with many interesting choices. It's more of a take out place but they do have several tables with waitress service.
I did the Gringo thing, and got a burrito, it was very good. The homemade guacamole was excellent too.
They also have an assortment of fruit flavored milk shakes, I tried the Banana, INSANE!
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, it was obvious they took real pride in their restaurant.
I still like Funcho's better, but this place is a lot closer, and the food was very good!
