A group of us went to Elephant Bar late at night and asked for seats in the bar. The waiter was attentive to our needs and was very friendly. He had to move tables and chairs around to seat us all but didn't seem to mind a bit. Our orders came out quickly and drinks were great. We were there during happy hour and our drinks were only $4~5 each. The waiter saw that we were struggling trying to split the check and he offered to do it for us and didn't seem to mind the hassle. This place isn't AMAZING but i always appreciate quick and friendly service so I give it 5 stars.
Review Source:Horrible service and decent food, not bad but not good. Our servers name was Jacqueline or something along those lines and she made our meal exceptionally uncomfortable and unpleasant. I don't think I've ever had such rude and unprofessional service! I will definitely not be returning to this establishment!!
Review Source:To the management team of E Bar.....allowing only three servers to work the entire floor on a semi-crowded Sunday  evening is no good.  No good for the staff and definitely no good for us patrons who would like some level of service.  Stop watching the World Series, get off the couch and help your team out. (oh....and can you bring my drink out to the back patio?!?!)
Review Source:Stopped in when our car broke down nearby while  waiting for the tow truck. It's been  years since I've been  in  because their food usually makes me feel sick...not e.coli sick, but just sick from processed food kind of sick. But what I always used to love was the spinach artichoke dip. It used to be very hot and cheesy and so delicious. It used to be baked in the oven and tasted more hand made. We ordered one and a strawberry margarita while we waited for the tow truck. So sad that the one thing I remember loving  has changed enough  that I doubt we'll ever be back even for it. It lacked the ooey gooeyness that  I recall...in fact the cheese almost reminded me of reconstituted powdered cheese. It was not piping hot as I recall. It was not baked in the dish it arrived in as I fondly remember. The amount served was less than it used to be, barely enough for two people. Years ago, 3 or 4 could snack on this appetizer  and feel the same filling as 2 of us today, so it's like it was cut in half. The whole thing tasted like it came out of a frozen box and was microwaved. Why do this to a great recipe?! Sniff.
The strawberry margarita tasted like a frozen otter pop and very weak. If you like frozen otter pops you'll like this. The bartender was super nice though!
I miss the old days of E-bar...
We flew into Signature Flight Support for a business meeting. Â Since our clients were running late we decided to grab a bite to eat since the Elephant Bar was right next door. Â
We were seated outside as requested, and then the wait began. Â It took almost 10 minutes before a server even came outside to ask us our drink order. Â Then she tried to take our food order right then, but we had not even been given menus.
Nothing too impressive here, so ill keep it brief.
Service was very friendly, but very slow, slow, slow. Â Food was okay. Â The make your own burger was pretty cool, as i like to pick what i like, but the meat tasted kind of weird. Â Definitely a frozen patty that was defrosted as it cooked. Â Okay for Mcdonalds, NOT okay for a restaurant like this.
If you flew into the airport the convenience is obviously there, but make sure you aren't in a hurry. Â Better off going somewhere down the road.
The Elephant Bar is defiantly a hit and miss kind of place, where lately it seems be a miss in many regards. The food is generally decent but not really worth how much it costs?
There service lately has seemed to be really really slow. Almost every time I go it is only with 4-5 people but it takes an hour just to get our food.
Really just sad I hope they get there act together sometime.
I came here this past weekend with a huge group of friends! I have had some past bad experiences at Elephant bar, so I was a little hesitant.
We had a little bit of a wait, but we just got to sit at the bar before getting our table - not too big of a deal. We got some appetizers before our lunch dish! We got the sampler and ahi tuna - i tried only one shrimp from the sampler and i was disgusted! The breading was far too much for the size of those shrimps, that tasted no where near fresh! For the main dish, I got the tempura mahi mahi fish sandwich with sweet potato fries. The mahi mahi was way too fishy and broke too easily, not so much in an easy to eat patty form. I am NOT a fan of mayonnaise, so the tartar sauce that much more nasty, with too much slathered on the bread! I believe those sweet potato fries were frozen prior to being served - HORRIBLE.
I will definitely not be coming back!
Watch your credit card charge! Â I came to this location on business and met up with a friend for his bday dinner. Â I expensed mine on a company credit card and paid for his on my personal card. Â A month later when Im reviewing both statements, I notice my personal card had a $.50 charge added to the total. Â I pulled my receipt and there was no way they misread the total. Â I called the company and asked if maybe there was a $.50 charge I wasnt aware of that would only hit one card. Â They said there was not and made me feel dumb about calling over $.50. Â So, I ask to speak to a manager who I am told was unavailable. Â I leave a detailed message and never get a call in return. Â
I hope this was a one off event, but the fact that no one ever called me back leaves me leery. Â My friend works for the DA's office and shes shut restaurants down for taking a nickle here and a dime there on customers cards, adding to thousands a year. Â If mgmt is not aware this is going on, they should really investigate further. Â For customers, Id recommend paying cash or watching your stmnts closely. Â The food was delish and I really liked their menu's, but I was displeased with the rest.
I ate lunch here last week with 5 other business colleagues. Â The service was good, but a little slow even for a larger group, especially during the weekly lunch hour.
The crab and shrimp louie salad was good and fresh and our group enjoyed several  appetizers; the coconut shrimp was ok, as were the sweet potato fries and mac'n'cheese.  The bottom line is everything was just ok.
Elephant Bar is usually one of my favorite places to eat. However, i do not like this location.
I ordered a burger. It took about 20 minutes, and then it came overcooked and burnt. The waitress was really nice and made us a better one, but I was still a little pissed cuz no one usually likes their burger overcooked.
There is one thing I like...the view! Incredible view of the tiny airport, and I admit the kid inside me loves to watch those planes.
No the food isn't spectacular but does anyone go to the elephant bar for amazing food? I went there because it was the only place within walking distance of the train station. The service was astounding and the food was decent. I really couldn't ask for more. The first time I went here they made sure to give me a safari card so this time my meal was almost free. I will be back when I'm stuck at the station for a few hours.
Review Source:Ive been here a couple of times with family.
This is my go to place for something a little more upscale when we are feeling like celebrating or splurging a bit on money.
Overall they have great presentation, great quality and good taste. Even though it is on the higher end of my budget for dinning out, I always feel like I am getting what I am paying for.
They have excellent wait staff, always checking in to make sure everything is ok.
I am giving it 3 stars, only because I feel as though I have seen other restaurants that really do go the extra mile for costumer service, or have amazing overall value for the price you pay.
The Elephant Bar does great costumer service, but nothing beyond what you would expect at a restaurant at this price range.
Bar review only. Been here two or three times and never impressed.
Wine was served in a wet glass. Who does that?
The beer selection is limited featuring the usual offenders.
The bar itself is not deep and I find myself leaning well over with knees firmly planted into the wood.
Happy Hour
M-F 3-7, All 9-Close
$3 house margarita, Sm domestic draft
$4 mojito, well and Sm craft draft or Lg domestic
$5 top margarita and some specialty cocktails
The joint gets busy but it's mostly a young, collage crowd or much older. Not for me.
The E Bar is definitely a good place to take people when you dont know what they want - its a perfect catch-all.
They have a massive menu with just about anything you can think of on it and everything is pretty good.  The wait staff is attentive and they usually get things right and if not, they make it right.
There is a decent patio for lounging in the sun just as long as someone at the private terminal isnt exercising the engines on their new private jet.... its all good.
I was going to give this place 3 stars but thinking back, I cant remember having a bad experience here.  Yes its a little generic, but its still good.
Located just around the corner from the Santa Barbara airport, the restaurant is known for its unique and relaxed atmosphere, making it a popular place to unwind for both locals and those who simply fly in for a quick business lunch.
With its European and Asian influences, one is in for a rare adventure as well as a fine dining experience. Food is cooked on a specially designed hardwood grill, which leaves the inside of the cuisine moist and tender, with the exterior of the item seared. Bold recipes and flavors from around the world pair with fresh ingredients, together running wild to create large portions of delicious food.
The bar prides itself on its diverse selection of exotic drinks. Try a Mandarin Fusion Mojito paired with Szechwan Shrimp & Chicken in a Spiced Garlic Sauce.
Set in a darker setting with an array of large statues throughout, one can forget they are in coastal Santa Barbara, but rather an exotic Tokyo. Can you say two vacations in one?
I only go to E-bar occasionally and I'm never really impressed. Its just something to do. My most recent visit was for late happy hour drinks and some appetizers. My mom and I had both ordered a fruit flavored Mojito (passion orange maybe?) because it was on the happy hour menu for $4. When we got the bill, we were charged full price and was told that when flavor is added, it removes the drink from the happy hour menu (??). After being told by our server that there was a 'glitch' in the system and that there was no way for us to get a refund, they gave us a handwritten credit for our next visit. Later on, the manager ended up re-running our cards for the correct amount.
The atmosphere is nice and its a cool place to visit, I guess. But I was bothered by the whole situation.
Hello there elephant bar! You rocked my Sunday. Bottomless mimosas, endless omelettes/cake/waffles/crispy chicken, good times. What's better than having a generous slice of cake, chicken, and an omelette on the same plate for breakfast and not being judged for it?
I strongly urge everyone to go to brunch on Sundays for all of the above. Â Stephanie especially sealed the deal as the best waitress, hands down. See you soon elephant bar.
Disclaimer: I've been here at least 10 times but only for the Happy Hour, so that's what I am reviewing.
So over the past two years I've been going here just for the relaxed ambience and good prices on both Happy Hour drinks and food. I have noticed that the prices have went up quite a bit, about $0.50 to $1 on certain items, but still overall I have always had a pleasant experience.
My "usuals:"
If I'm hungry: $7.50 for the Burger+Fries+Domestic craft beer (I stick with Fat Tire or Blue Moon). This gets me full every time and I eat a lot.
Just for drinks: Long Island Iced Tea (Was $4 now I believe $5 but it is a tall glass and relatively strong), $3 House Margarita (good deal/tasty), $4 Sangria Rojo (Tastes good, small serving), $3 on generic well drinks (gin fizz or whiskey coke for me)
Anyhow, the service is usually decent, especially if you are at the bar and are strictly there for happy hour. Until the prices get hiked up again I will probably be going here a few more times before graduation.
Came here for a graduation dinner a while back and waited for 2 hours for our group of 8. Rather than one large table we sat at two separate tables and it completely ruined our grad dinner. Along with not being able to sit with my family, I had to leave in the middle of dinner because it took so long.
I called ahead to make reservations and they said they weren't taking any. ON GRADUATION DAY....and they weren't taking reservations.
There were families seated, finished and just visiting. On a busy day it is up to the management to politely move people out so others can be seated and they did absolutely nothing.
I'll never go to elephant bar again, especially the one in Goleta.
I enjoy Elephant bar in my own neighborhood for happy hour and good deals...and my LA County location has good service.....
NOT HERE! 10+ minutes and not even a drink order or even a server to notice I was even visible. Â Servers were swarming me, some eyeing their big tables, some just standing... Â I could tell from the time I walked in that I wasn't gonna have a good experience... Â lots of open tables and a line to get seated?? Â I handed back my menu to the hostess and walked out after being seated and ignored.
It's a chain restaurant so i had one bad experience, big deal. Go here during happy hour. super good deals
I use to love this place. Sushi rolls are bomb! And I love those Vietnamese spring rolls. But today was definitly unpleasant. Got the 10$ ultra premium mojito... Ultra premium my @$$!!! Do yourself a favor and get a beer. The bartenders here don't bar tend. They measure with mixes.
Had Garlic bread as an appetizer, however they forgot to toast it!!! The cooks don't know how to cook.. Or toast! Super unimpressed, however it is a chain restaurant so don't expect anything but the least. I'm a reasonable person with good taste. Sometimes places just need to step up their game!
I went here with my husband on our way back home from SLO and the waitress was terrible. She took forever to bring us our drinks. We saw our drinks sitting at the bar just seating on the out side and she was flirting with other people. Granted, they are college kids but c'mon, if you do not want to work then dont. I had to get up from my chair and get our drinks that were just sitting at the bar.
Our food was not how I ordered it. I asked for it to be fixed and she took it back, burned my steak and brought it back.
We left her a quarter as a tip, terrible service. I told the managet on the way out and he said, sorry you should have said somthing sooner to comp your meal. I was not looking fro free food given that I did order, I was looking for that waitress to be told something.
Needless to say, will not go there again,
Elephant Bar kinda reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory because they serve so many people and have such large portions. Â This is not complaint, just an observation.
Anyways, our party of three visited on Friday night. Â There was a 15-20 minute wait, no big deal. Â We just decamped to the bar, Â mojito come to mama. Â Drink was kinda weak, but still alright.
For appetizers we had the garlic bread & spinach dip, neither one wowed us. Â The bread was tasty, but would have been improved if it'd had some crunch to it. Â The dip tasted okay, but I've had better.
Now, the dinner's themselves were a hit. Â My friend had plenty of her sesame ginger noodles to take some home for lunch the next day, and they tasted good so she actually wanted to take it home. Â Ribs disappeared from other friend's plate so, that's a win. Â I had the Moroccan chicken w/ chutney atop couscous and it was way yummy. Â
I wish we had had room for dessert because the menu had beautiful pictures and descriptions. Â I might consider skipping the apps. next time so as to save room for dessert. Â Not bad overall.
I used to go here for my birthday when I attended UCSB. It can hold larger groups pretty well and the service is typical. The menu is also pretty large so something for everyone. Â The food isn't particularly good. I do not have anything good or bad to say - it's just whatever. Â There are so many great places to eat in Santa Barbara that it is hard to give a place like this good reviews. Â I will say it could be a good fit to hold a large group of college students that are looking for mediocre, cheaper food.
In addition, picture something in your head like a Cheesecake factory - that is Elephant Bar.
I love their massive menu, their tiny dessert options, their enormous mudslide ice cream cake monstrosity, and their consistently delicious cocktails. I hate hate hate hate hate their disgusting tap water. I think they keep the water tasting bad so you'll order cocktails, but the cocktails ARE delicious so maybe that's not too bad.
Just to clarify here, I am no water snob. I would never take a 'water sommelier' seriously. I drink tap at home. I refill my water bottles from the bathroom sink at the gym. I drank the tap when I lived in IV, even though all my friends warned me OMG BUY A BRITA FILTER LOL YOULL NEED IT. The water here tastes like pool water, like chlorine. You know how if you're drinking some really nasty vodka or something just to get drunk, you chug it really fast so you don't taste it? With this water, I try to chug it really fast because I need to get hydrated, and the speed with which you propel it over your tongue(to minimize tasting) doesn't matter. You taste it anyway, and it is horrible.
3.5 STARS.  I just had a little itch to write a review on E-bar  ;)  Been here for lunch and dinnner a few times, but it really isn't anything special. I just like coming for happy hour!
-I love the chicken wrap!! :D :D The one w/ the lettuce! SoOooo good! its under 5 bucks and perfect to share! We always run out of lettuce and they always bring more!
-mai tai is really scrumptous! I like to finish it up and then move on to the pinapple. Yummms.
-Calamari is alright. They use to give so much more, but now it comes in an itty bitty bowl ]:
-spinach dip, fries, margaritas, long island, bruschetta = okay.
Sometimes we get pretty good service (i forgot my ID once.. ;D ), but sometimes the service is pretty horrible. Â We ordered BEFORE lunch ended, but she did not put the order in before that time. -.- Refused to give us the lunch special. what a $@#%$@.
Well regardless, I've had some fun happy hour times here ((: I'd still come back for the chicken wrap!
I came here to use a gift card i received from the downey elephant bar, what a bust.
I just happen to be driving threw the city and thought why not try this company again. My girlfriend was a veggie head so we wanted the appetizer nacho with out meat.
We got nachos with meat, they then returned it to the kitchen. They bring it back, as if they can fool people, the people in the back tried to just pick off the meat and burn the cheese under the salamander. We told the manager and he told us to hold on to our gift card and asked if he could get us the same nachos fresh and dessert. That was fine with me. They did send us better food.
BUT WHY DOES IT ALWAYS TAKE THE SECOND TRY.
For chain eateries i expect them to run like a clock, why else would they have so many. Standards please.
Good staff/waiters. Â They check on you frequently, but not too much to annoy you. Â Tables are set up so you're not too close to other tables. Decorations are nice, and interior is nice. Â Food is alright. Â Decent amounts for the price you pay. Â This place is very eclectic with the menu... They have asian, american, italian, mexican..etc.
I've been here a few times with friends and family. Â Their appetizers are all great to try. Â And the food is made with quality. Â Their fries get cold fast though, I guess they're frozen.
The location of this place is money because it is located right outside the front door of Signature Flight Support, the FBO at the Santa Barbara Municipal Airport. Â For you general aviation folks out there, this place is ultra-convenient.
Customer service here is good. Â They're friendly and attentive enough if they're not busy. but what's with the warm iced tea? Â We had to ask for a glass of ice to cool off both mine and my friend's, and all the ice melted and it was still warm. Â I ordered the blackened ahi sandwich, and that was just okay. Â The sear was not completely around the filet, leaving some parts completely raw, and for a sandwich that was supposed to be blackened, it tasted somewhat bland. Â The salad it came with was standard, nothing special.
Extra credit for the cool island/beach motif and for its location. Â I'm sure there are better places in Santa Barbara, and if I ever have time I'll definitely go looking.
Good grief, so many people blasting E-Bar.
I've got great college memories getting sloshed at E-Bar, eating free happy hour grub, listening to live reggae music and watching planes land at the tiny podunk airport in its backyard.
Back in the day, before there were more than 2 or 3 Elephant Bars (that I know of), this was the place to be. Â Yeah, yeah, the food is not great, but its good enough. Â I also sold their corporate office like 100 Â shirts from Eddie Bauer (the one that used to be in La Cumbre Plaza) and my manager stole my sale!
I don't think I'd ever come here for the food. But today, I was to have lunch with a friend and it was cold and drizzly outside. We wanted to be indoors, all warm and comfy. Â For that, the Elephant Bar fits the bill.
But overall, I'm not sure there is any other chain that has fallen off my deluded pedestal of being an "old world" exotic restaurant in my youth to generic disappointing corporate gut-buster in my jaded adulthood. What is up with the asian fusion stuff in a restaurant with a supposed African safari theme? A wonton sundae, wtf?
Service, while acceptable, is so staged. Prices, pretty standard for pretty standard quality, high quantity food. My companion and I shared a seafood starter platter, and I got the club sandwich with side salad. So much dressing pooled on the plate and soaked into my sandwich bread. :(
Something I did think was neat was a mini-dessert selection. I love the smaller portions, with equally smaller prices. Like a cupcake with a little ice cream. I think the prices were $2.95 for desserts from this menu.
The other diners seemed consistently "meaty." I wonder if this is an exotic treat for them. As for myself, I want the weather to improve, so I can dine comfortably elsewhere.
I went here a handful of times when I went to UCSB for birthday parties and group dinners. Â I never thought I'd end up going to E-bar so much after graduating... Â But my company holds monthly meetings here in their conference room. Â They always pretty much have the same menu and the food never fills me for lunch. Â Their staff treats us well though.
Anyway, coming here for leisure isn't always my highlight. Â In fact, I don't ever suggest to go eat here. Â I only come when it's with a group. Â The Asian food selection disappoints me. Â It's more of a fusion really. Â When they do have their special of trip-tip with shrimp skewers, that's pretty good. Â Otherwise, I'm just not crazy about their food here.
I had so many friends who worked here I'm a little bias giving this review as I never paid full price when I went. Â Due to some unforeseen "mishaps" during my order I was comped alot of dishes. Â That said my favorite food here was actually the Asian dishes even though they were far removed from actual asian dishes. Â The cashew chicken was actually very tasty.
Take this place for what it is, a corporate restaurant trying to not offend the mainsteam audience and it succeeds. Â It cracks me up to think that this restaurant was considered "upscale" to us when we were in school but the fact it was considering our socio-economic standing at the time.
A cheap, reasonably priced place to have a birthday party while in school, now that I'm comfortably pass that stage in life I doubt I'll ever set foot in another EBar again.
I remember being around 6 years old and coming here and thinking the mud pie was as big as my head. Which it probably was! But in the last 5 years or so it has drastically gone down hill. Now I'd only come here for happy hour and even then...give me a dive bar anyday!!!
I did however, eat here a week ago and lets just say that it was not a great experience. Our appetizer took about 25  minutes to be served and then it took another 15 for our entrees. I do not blame the server because he was attentive and kept us posted...it must be the kitchen. That and I was astonished at the behavior of the other patrons. People  yelling and I mean YELLING expletives across the restaurant and bar. Children screaming and running around the restaurant bumping in to servers and other tables. Now I know this isn't the classiest of places so don't expect much but I think its still inappropriate to have 3 kids under 5 in the bar and allowing them to run free and having groups of people yelling "f*** you!"
Uggg. I don't know if I'm more disappointed in the establishment or its patrons.
E- Bar is crap. Â crap crap crap crap
i dont understand why people eat here- Â i mean, its crap. Â really
i cant stand this place, Â it actually upsets me when people mention this place as an option- Â Â
the food is terrible, or should i say crap. Â poor ingrediants, poor season, poorly cooked, poorly delivered just crap
crap
I'm never thrilled about the food at the Elephant Bar, but it's not horrible either.
The best thing about E-bar is the BAR. But of course, they never put enough alcohol in the fruity alcoholic drinks, so you almost feel like that $5-7 dollar drink was a waste. Although, it did taste good, so I guess it was okay, right?...I guess... But then, you're tempted to buy another, which means +$6 and +cost of food (maybe $7-10).
If the food was exceptional and the drinks didn't disappear so quickly, I wouldn't mind about the prices. (Btw, I am not a quick drinker either. I usually take forever to down a tall-ish cup full of a smoothie).
Maybe we should've just gotten burgers and fries from The Habit (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz/gEqnsvNiXQDwSElL9KSCow">http://www.yelp.com/biz/…</a>), yeah?
The food is reasonably priced and acceptably good. Â Some menu items are a let down though, so you have to choose carefully. Â
The Chinese and Thai salads are good, as are the burgers and BBQ sandwiches.
Great ambiance for kids and the outdoor patio is right on the private aviation lot, so you can watch the small planes up close on a nice day.
Service is usually good. Â Occasionally a UCSB kid that works there won't have a clue about service, but the turnover is so high that you probably won't have to be served by them again.
It's a lunch place... Â I would not give it 4 stars for dinner...
