I am a Colorado native and had been struggling to find the New Belgium Lips of Faith, ever evolving, series of barley pop in the PNW. Happily, Elizabeth Station carries the LOF series and much much more!
This is a great place to hang out with friends, is kid friendly (they have a chalk board table, kid friendly food, snacks and drinks), decent food and beer, beer, and more beer!
A recent remodel added a new wine section in the back. Great selection of wine and a really nice tasting room is now part of their beer offering.
The staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do.
This is a 'go to' place for me and friends. Great neighborhood feel.
Only suggestions:
Please lower prices to competitive retails.
Please please add more bike racks for parking.
Keep the special events rolling. Love 'em!
I only go there when I have to, because I work nearby. The only really good experience I've had is the girl who works at the cash register has been really really nice. Other than her, my experiences there have ranged from "eh" to disappointing.
My first experience there was I met a friend for lunch, because I heard the sandwiches were really good. I was NOT impressed. It was very expensive, it was small, and it was dry. I took half of it with me because I had to get back to the office, but I ended up throwing it away. And I don't throw away food.
Nearly every time I go in, I have to ask the price of almost anything I'm interested in, because only a few of their items are priced. Also, their prices definitely run on the high side.
My most recent experience was when I was looking at a brand new meat product they'd gotten in - Bacon & Pork sticks. They came in a huge pack, though, rather than in sticks, and they were priced at $6.69. I suggested they offer samples, and they said "No way! Those are really good! Definitely worth it." I hemmed and hawed, all the while they were raving on and on about how great the product was, and how I definitely should try it and they were selling out really fast. So I finally gave in and decided to take the chance, despite the high price and having no idea what it would taste like since they refused to provide samples.
I took one bite and my first reaction was "eh, it's okay. I don't love it, but I don't hate it." But the more I chewed the same bite, the less I liked it. By the time I got to swallowing it, I didn't like it at all. I tried a few more bites over the course of the afternoon, kind of hoping to coax my mouth into agreeing with the people at the shop. No go. I really don't like them. I offered them to my coworker, and she didn't like them either.
I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to be "that person" who brought the item back, but it wasn't cheap and I hated to just throw all that money away when I hate the product.
Finally I called and explained what happened to the guy on the phone. At the end of my story, I asked what to do, and he said "no returns on food."
The end. No solution.
I could accept their policy if they were so confident in the quality of the product they were offering that they provided free samples, or sold smaller packages, so someone could try it before committing to a big package. But I just feel like on every end of the situation, they are unhelpful and unaccommodating, putting the needs of the customer last.
In my book, that gets no more than 2 stars.
