Elks-Santa Clarita Lodge 2379

Why review an Elks Lodge?  This is the scene in the movie" Drive" where characters; Standard, Driver and Blanche arrive to hold up the Cash & Coin Pawn Shop in a stolen black Ford Mustang.  It's also the place where Standard meets his ill-fated demise and falls victim of several shotgun shells to the side of the neck and back.

While the Cash & Coin Pawn Shop sign in front looked very authentic in the movie, I was quite disappointed that this makeshift Pawn Shop turned out to be the Elks - Santa Clarity Lodge #2379, where Boy Scout meetings are held every Tuesday, BINGO is played every Thursday and Sunday.  While I was let down that this place wasn't real like some of the other scenes in the movie, I do believe this brotherhood plays a vital role in small close-knit communities - which Canyon Country is.  Another amenity of this Elks Lodge is that free Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge, patio and RV camping area.

In case you were wondering what B.P.O.E. means on all the Elks standard, it's an acronym for The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.  The benefits for being an Elk are discounts on auto and home insurance, discounted vacations, wireless savings, prescription savings, and much more for Elks Members, their families and businesses.  Something that may tickle my fancy in another 50 years or so  :)

So Pawn Shop this not be, B.P.O.E it shall be.

Standard:  "Well my name is Standard Gabriel."
Irene:  "Where's the deluxe version?"
