Everett's Club

If for any reason, you are traveling through Crescent City or staying in town for a few days (there is actually plenty of beautiful sites to visit within a 20 mile radius) you should pay Everett's Club a visit.

It's the quintessential small town (8k people) bar, they have 3 beers on tap, a whole mess of bottled beer & are the only establishment in Crescent City that serves hard liquor.

They have pool tables, Karaoke on Wednesday & Thursday nights & a crowd like I had never seen before. I watched as this man quietly sat in the back of the bar, toying with his harmonica. When it came time for him to perform--he played the most stellar version of the Allman Brothers "Hoochie Coochie Blues"...the whole room of locals was moving to his tune.

Once everyone realized I was there to have a good time & document Crescent City's people...they opened up and wanted to talk my ear off. I even got a free shot of Fernet Branca from the bartender--who mentioned that nobody had asked for it in years.

It's actually a really crappy bar, but it's about the best you'll find in the area.

There is not one word that describes this hole....this place has been around for years.  The carpet is so old that it sticks to the sole of your shoes (scares me to think what it has on it).  I am ashamed to say I have been here more than once.  I turned 21 the weekend my cousin got married in this town and I had to go out to celebrate...... unfortunately, this was the only place to do so.  I also had to go here for a bachelorette party.....which is my best memory of this place, the lady who checks ID's (may Gert RIP)looked at me and said "you aren't from around here are you" proudly I replied no I am  not!  Guess the fact that I have all of my teeth, was wearing a stylish outfit, and wasn't sporting an 80's hairstyle is what gave me a way.  This is definitely a place you want to stand out, if you blend in with the crowd you need to shoot yourself.  I give this place one star because it has to be one of the best places to people watch.  The DJ Tim (also known as the Nuskinator) is a hoot, so was the toothless skank that was tongue kissing two guys sitting at the bar next to each other.......ironically we found out the next morning that the toothless skank was also our hotel maid.  Maybe this explains why our sheets were dirty?  You have to love the resident police office Ed who hangs out and lets everyone smoke in a non-smoking establishment.  This place is uniqely Crescent City's rendition of a club.  They can have it!
