I made this account JUST to make this review.

This place is awful.  Both servers we had gave us attitude when we asked about the specials or questions on the menu.

There are flies all over our both which was gross!

Next up is the food.  When the best party of the meal is the bread, that's a problem...  Got the steak which was over cooked with no flavor at all and the mashed potatoes tasted and looked like they were old instant from a box.

Please go somewhere else, this place has very  poor service and the food is even worse.  Never coming back here even if someone paid for my next meal.

I am never impressed with this restaurant although it was better than it has been in the past.  Not quite so overpriced.

The waiter was overwhelmed with our table of 10.  We didn't get our fair share of bread.  Several girls were sharing larger meals and he didn't bring extra plates.  We didn't get drink refills, he did a lousy job of clearing the dirty dishes from the table, and no one from management stepped in or tried to help.  Despite this, it wasn't awful.  The Calimari is good, the crab dip is edible but disappointing.  The buffalo chicken burned my mouth.  The ceasar dressing has anchovies (yuk).  Pretty much everyone ate without compliments or complaints.  We ordered dessert, too - and that was devoured.  They really do hit the sweet note at the end.  Overall, I will give Fairways 3.5 stars - which is much better than past visits.

    Food - average
Service below average - slow and inattentive, unfortunate because our waitress (Meghan) has a pleasant personality

Long drive from North Carolina. Even longer wait to check into the resort. Unload the car, can't hear the kids whining over the sound of our stomaches growling. Fairways is closes, so we'll eat there, right?

First: The not-so-good. For a meal with 3 kids in tow (2 that are too old for a kids' menu and 1 that is not turned on by kids' food) it's pretty pricey. But, it's vacation, we're tired, not about to drive back to town.  And the negative pretty much stops here.

Second: The good. We started with some calamari. Thin rings and leggy bodies with marinara.  I've had better, but I've certainly had worse too. Maybe I was being picky, everyone else devoured them. Joseph really enjoyed his burger. Pricey (I said that already, didn't I?) but well-sized. The "fries" were not really his style, large light waffle cut potatoes with a flavored breading, but the burger filled him enough that it wasn't a problem. Leah enjoyed her Caesar Salad, with some to bring back to the room. I'll mention my meal here, the serving size was a bit small . . . but that's likely because of what it was.

Third: The yummy.  I had a special (sorry, they probably won't have it for you): perfect melt in your mouth slices of flank stank, delectable slices of perfectly prepared duck breast, and two really nicely spiced and non-greasy venison sausages. The duck and flank were only a few slices each, for $30, but so perfectly prepared that I really can't complain (and I stole Joseph's potatoes). My wife's tuna steak seemed to be sushi grade and was prepared just shy of medium rare, just like she requested it. She loved every bite. We both had a candied carrot side dish (and I had mashed potatoes; she had rice, both good but nothing special).  Jacob had a sirloin, baked potato, and steamed broccoli and he hummed through the meal, a great sign from him.

Oh, and on this Sunday night, there was a guitarist who clearly loved the 1960s as he shared interesting (and short) bits of trivia about each song he covered. He did most of them very well, we walked out singing You've Lost that Loving Feeling along with him.

Overall, a good first vacation meal when we were in the mood to splurge.

We ate here twice on vacation and it was fine.  Don't expect fine dining.  The convienience to the condo at Massanutten was enough to make us like this place.  Our second meal here was part of a wine tasting dinner and that was very enjoyable.  The food again was good not great the wine (stone mountain winery) was very good.  Would have loved to purchase several wines but you are not allowed.  VA has some weird liquor laws.  Our service was very good both visits.  As others have said their beer list is amazing.  My husband was very happy.  Very nice bar here.  Good to come for drink and you can eat at the bar.

Priced a little high, great salads and bread, new server still needed cheat sheets for drinks, but in her defense, they had a fabulous wine and beer list and she was very friendly.  However, when she boxed up my son's leftovers, she used her bare hands (we chose to leave them behind).  My medium well prime rib was undercooked and pretty fatty, my husband's tuna was a larger portion than expected and he enjoyed it but said he'd had better. Kids had hot dogs which they were not impressed with and too large serving of waffle fries and chocolate milk...wish a healthy side had been made available.  Convenient to family fun at Le Club (pool, basketball, arcade games, tv, outdoor ice skating rink, etc.).

Loved it!  Service was  a tad slow, but the food was great.  I am a very picky eater and they accomated all my requests with no questions asked and they did it perfect. We are here on vacation for 3 more days and we will be going there again before we leave.  I reccomend it!

We ordered a steak and stuffed fish, in addition to an appetizer. We really were not impressed and would not go back again. The steak was overcooked and the fish was okay but not something I would order again. The service was good, prices a little high for the quality.
