It's a chain store. Â It's good food, but lacks the charm, ambiance, or panache that a local restaurant would have. Â Don't get me wrong, the place is fine, nothing wrong with the food, service, or what have you, but what makes this different from Ruby Tuesday's, TGIF, or even the Denny's up the road?
Review Source:WHO KEEPS GIVING FOOD CHAINS 5/5 STARS?
The shrimp is dry & frozen, the French fries are frozen bag fries, the atmosphere is generic, and the salads warm.
This place is generic medium-end food through & through. If a place serves frozen anything, it's not 5 stars, especially something as easy to make as french fries!
For shame, Yelp! Reviewers... You know better than that.
On the upside, their rolls are good. I'd also like to add that I definitely am a sushi/seafood connoisseur, so my seafood palette is well developed.
I always enjoy when I am able to go to a Fatz. Â My menu choice today was the Parmesan crusted chicken with 3 color penne pasta. Â I liked the crunch on the chicken coating and the three colors of the pasta was different and was a different flavor than what one usually gets with regular pasta. Â The triangle plate used made for a great presentation.
Still hope this chain fins its way to Raleigh.
Friendly personnel, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Â They were busy Friday night and we had a 15 to 20 minute wait. Â Appears they may provide "call ahead seat reservations". Â The salad and rolls were great. Â The chicken soup was very salty, to the point that my wife could not eat it (which I've never witnessed before when it comes to chicken soup). Â The sirloin steak was very tough. Â We ordered our steaks medium, and mine was medium rare and my wires was well done. Â The 6 oz steak is very thin. Â The 10 oz is pretty think and about what you would expect, but very tough to cut and eat. Â Although my baked potato was "loaded" it was pretty dry as there was not much butter our sour cream on it. Â We will try something different on the menu next time.
Review Source:I must admit that with a name like "Fatz" I was a little apprehensive to eat here since I am back on the fitness wagon (at the moment anyways) so a glass of water and the Mahi Mahi spinach salad is just what the trainer ordered!
Fatz is a popular chain in these parts and it is synonymous with consistently good service and food. My visit here was no exception.
Fatz Cafe is a Carolina-based casual chain restaurant offering a good menu including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, soups, chicken, steaks, ribs, seafood, and desserts. Pepsi fountain drinks and a full bar menu offered as well as weekday lunch specials (11-3) starting at $5.99. The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming with a similar atmosphere to an Applebee's or a 99 Restaurant.
On our way to Charlotte, we got off US 74 and made a stop for lunch at Fatz Cafe in Forest City (just below Wal-Mart). We were promptly seated at a comfortable booth. We started out with 2 Diet Pepsis and an order of Fried Green Tomatoes ($6.79). The Fried Green Tomatoes were very good and filling to eat, which had a crispy batter outside and smothered with remoulade and cheese grits, a fork and knife was required for this appetizer. The waiter also brought out a basket of sweet poppyseed fried dough balls with honey butter, which were out of this world and very addicting to munch on, like Krispy Kreme donuts. The fried dough balls are very similar to those served at Stoney River Steakhouse.
For lunch, my friend ordered the Creation Station ($5.99)-Pick 2 dishes and chose a Dinner Salad and Half Chicken Salad Sandwich, which was pretty good. The salad had fresh lettuce, red cabbage, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, real bacon bits, croutons, and dressing. The toasted half sandwich had a dense creamy chicken salad with lettuce & tomato with honey mustard on the side. I ordered the Ying Yang Shrimp Tacos ($5.99), which were excellent tasting and to describe this dish, where Mexican tacos and Chinese flavors meet. This dish was very generous and had 3 soft grilled tortilla shells filled with lots of sweet & spicy crispy popcorn shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, & cilantro and a pile of warm crispy colored tortilla chips on the side.
The service by our waiter (an older gentleman) was spot on and very attentive. We got our food and drinks in a timely fashion. The waiter checked up on our table quite often, offering refills on the soft drinks and more fried dough balls to share.
Fatz Cafe easily gets two thumbs up!!
