Good place for a quick lunch. I eat there about 1-2 times a month. I used to get the fish and chips. Nice mild and always hot. However, in the last 6-12 months I noticed that the protion size has shrunk; the pieces used to be much bigger. So unfortunately I stopped ordering it; I miss you fish and chips! Now I order their pick two or three lunch combos. They have great Blue Cheese dressing (on the house salad) and a killer soup called "Tuscan Tomato". Pair that up with a half a club sandwich and it'll be more than you can eat. And of course their rolls- those golden fried bits of dough.

Tip: get there at 11 AM to beat the lunch crowd.

After a less than acceptable experience, the manager invited us back for a second chance. This time around was much better! Most of us from my party ordered the steak and shrimp meal, it could have included some more shrimp, but it was very good none the less. This steak had a great taste, much better than our previous experience.
Our waiter was Amir, and he was very attentive to our needs, no one ever ran out of drink, and anything we asked for, he was more than happy to help, He was also very friendly and didn't rush us which was great.
I am very impressed with the fact that the manager of this FATZ went above and beyond to try and make right after a bad experience.
We celebrated my sisters birthday during this visit, and it came included with a desert of her choice and a birthday song. Very happy with this visit.

Needs some management shakeup. Outside waiting area was dirty. Table next to us hadn't been cleared when we walked, in and still filled with leftovers when we left. Waiter brought my honey her drink order than asked me if wanted a drink. I reminded him that we had both ordered a drink when we first sat down.

We've eaten here twice, mostly out of desperation. The town of Marion does not afford one very many choices in terms of culinary arts. Our hotel recommended this spot, so we thought, okay, we'll give it a shot.
On our first visit, I had the shrimp and grits, which were pretty good. The service was good. My sweetie had half rack of ribs and steak. He loved them both.
So when we returned to the same hotel, we thought, why not? This place is a safe corporate bet in a sea of mom-n-pop shops that showcase fried chicken and country cookin', almost exclusively. Sadly, our second visit, we opted to try the value menu, which offered an appetizer and two entrees for a value price. One word: Ew!
The fish reserved its spot on the value menu with the, "I've been in the freezer forever, so make me a special" flavoring. My meal was very blah. Lesson learned. Value food comes with some unspoken prices, namely taste. We will skip this spot next time and venture out into the risky country-fried culinary landscape.

Unparalleled service continues to be the norm at Fatz, but this is the first time I have left unimpressed with the food. We always make it a point to try and visit a Fatz when visiting the Carolinas and certainly look forward to an amazing meal. However, this location simply wasnt on par with the other restaurants we've visited. Dont know if its a new location, changed recipe, or exactly what the circumstance was... but the food left us wanting to visit another Fatz to get the amazing calabash chicken, soups, and bread. Meal simply tasted "off" by Fatz standards.

On the plus side, Fatz still has the most friendly and attentive wait staff of any moderate priced restaurant. They get you taken care of and make you feel at home while they do it.

I still love Fatz and just hoping my visit was an off day...
