Went there for their famous fried chicken and none was to be had. We were told that it would be 20 minutes before they would have some. That's like going to Outback and them not having steaks.
Went next door to Subway where they had meat and cheese and bread.
Wandering if something is going on. The last few times we went there the place was almost empty. This was during lunch and supper. Can't last without business.
Not impressed at all. The food was way over priced for the quality. We have a variety of food, including fried shrimp platter, hamburgers and gumbo. The fried shrimp platter (mine) was over $15.00 and had only a few shrimp, coleslaw and other stuff. I was so disappointed. My husband had gumbo and it was average, the kids had burgers and they were average. We could have gotten a better taste of Louisiana from Long John Silvers, McDonald's and boxed Gumbo, especially for the price. I would not go there again, and did not. We stayed at a local hotel across the street and decided to drive 20 minutes away to get food in the city for the week we were there. They need to lower prices and kick up the seasonings.
Review Source:i've been here twice in the last year. Â this may not seem like often, but both times, i was driving on I-10 from LA to NOLA, got hungry, took the next exit I came to, and ended up here (even though it's not even one of the restaurants noted on the exit signs). Â seems like destiny, no?
last time, i got a fried chicken plate and a cup of gumbo. Â this time, the catfish plate. Â
the catfish is the clear winner, though the fried chicken was good, too. Â but the catfish - oh man! Â not as stellar as middendorf's but up there among my favorite catfish experiences. Â
unfortunately, the sides were disappointing both times. Â the fries are a little too thick and sit under the heat lamp too long if you catch them at a slow time. Â the cole slaw is standard. Â the dinner rolls are grocery store bought.
if they could just get the sides together, i might actually stop in iowa on purpose next time.
