Being situated in a touristy town, Finns Fish House is worth a stop in for dinner. Please note that for the area, I've given it 3 stars.
We happened to arrive on a quiet night (first week of May). We started our meal with a house Margaritas on the rocks. (Made from a mix, but it hit the spot. Our- second one was a bit heavy handed on the Tequila!) I had the Cioppino - came with jasmine rice in the middle?? The best items in the bowl were the crab legs & shrimp. The scallops and fish were under seasoned, but cooked thru. The mussels were definitely over-cooked. Â My husband's Halibut needed a bit more seasoning. [He was thinking he should have ordered the Cioppino as well.] The meal came with bread basket -- buttery, twisted garlic sticks. You could choose a mixed green salad, soup of the day/clam chowder, or potato. Â
NOTE: They host a variety of specials each night. Example - Tuesday nights are 50% off for Sr Citizens
We've only had breakfast here during the off-season, so I can't speak for dinner but I'm sure it's delicious. We were in line at the absolutely maddeningly busy Pig 'n' Pancake down the road when I decided that between the line and the noise, I'd rather just go somewhere else. I wasn't sure if on a Saturday morning, everywhere would be that busy, but we took the chance. I almost walked by Finn's, but saw a few people inside. Could it be... an ADULT venue for breakfast that wasn't busy?! So close to the Pig?! IMPOSSIBLE.
Sure enough, we were sat immediately by the windows. A few tables were occupied inside, and a couple next to us sat having a bloody mary and some other cocktail. A fire roared in a stove toward the center of the room, decorated with glass pieces. The air here is totally different from the Pig - it's hard to believe they're so close together.
I ordered the smoked salmon benedict with pancakes. OH. MY. GOD. The salmon was tender and smoky, and they have some of the best hollandaise sauce I've had in my life. And I have NO clue what they put in their pancakes but they were fantastic. Slightly spongy in texture and very absorbent of syrup. Maybe it was vanilla? My SO had an omelette with chunks of ham in it and toast. Even the bread was delicious.
Service was also pretty good. They didn't hang over us, and the food was served pretty quickly. Only a few more tables filled up before we got the check and left. When we're back in Seaside, I'll definitely be stopping in to have the benedict and pancakes again!
This place was perfect! We just got off the beach from clam digging with our two year old. My hubby had the corn beef hash, he said its the best he's had and I had the chicken fried steak. The food was good, tasted fresh, and big portions. The staff brought our little one crayons and paper, and a special cup. The restaurant was clean and cute decor. Our wait staff were friendly and attentive. Our total bill was $24 dollars and well worth it. We will definetly go again
Review Source:My boyfriend and I ate here twice on our trip to Seaside. We had lunch the first day and dinner on our last day.
For lunch I had the Pacific Cod Fish and Chips. The fish was really good without being too greasy, and the fries were delicious. My boyfriend had a crab melt that was pretty good also.
For dinner we both had pasta. He had the salmon ravioli and I had the Linguini Alfredo with Chicken. The chicken was really good and not overcooked, however, the pasta sauce was pretty bland.
The service was great both times. Super friendly. We ate lunch in the dining room, and dinner in the bar.
The decor was nice.
I don't usually give bad review, but this place deserved, it's The worst!
On 3/26/13, we went there for dinner, we were in town for spring break. The service was slow and inattentive - the place was almost empty, only two table had customers, but somehow it took them about 10 + min to sat us, we were about to walk out when they show our table...I wish we would have walk out... (a group of four).
To start my mother order seafood fettuccine w/marinada sauce, they brought her Alfredo sauce... Â I told a waiter to please just cancel it, but after 10 min our waitress brought her the right plate, even though I have cancel it; It was just ok, nothing special for $21. Needed to ask for more water, never asked if We would like another glass of wine, nothing....I understand if the place is pack, but it was almost empty!
My teen son couldn't eat his shrimp melt...about 5-6 bites, that is all he could handled and he can eat! My daughter ordered a hamburger because they didn't have fried shrimp in the kids menu...a seafood place that doesn't have fried shrimp on the menu...? Anyway, Â they brought her a cheeseburger!... she only had two bites... They offered to re-do the burger, but at that point they kids were tired, my daughter said it was ok... But they charged for everything even their mistakes they made....unapologetic...they didn't even offer my daughter a ball of ice cream for their error! For my plate, it was the special of the evening (sole fillet, blacked salmon, scallops, mash potatoes and veggies) bland- bland, bland and NOTHING special about it! Â The food was mediocre, I wish we would have gone to Norma's or Maggie's on the prom.
The one star is for the clam chowder, it was indeed really good, my son and I had a cup and it was yummy.
Customer service was wonderful! Â It was obvious that they were a lot busier than expected thus being short on workers. Our waitress was extremely busy waiting on many other tables, including tables as large party of 20+ but she still took the time to come by and check up on us to see how we were doing and made sure that we had everything we wanted/needed.
Atmosphere of the place was very nice, granted that it was a busy night and super loud but on any other night, it would be pretty nice with a live piano music, low lighting and fireplaces.
Food was delicious.
Ordered crab cakes and steak quesadilla for appetizers and loved it. Â Probably the best place for crab cakes in Seaside, OR. Â Also had grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies with a side of clam chowder and enjoyed those as well. Â Probably one of the best dining experience I've had in Seaside, OR therefore I would highly recommend.
Excellent seafood and drinks. Â The waitstaff was really friendly and they didn't hover, which is a big plus for me. Â We just happened to be there on a Wednesday night and it was half off for seniors. Â There were four of us so with four entrees and drinks, the bill was only $54! Â Can't beat it. Â I would definitely go here again, even if it wasn't on a Wednesday.
Review Source:Our group of 4 decided to visit Finn's rather than a couple of other options in Seaside and we are so glad we did. Or server, Brooklyn, was AWESOME. We got our food in record time, at a very busy hour, and Brooklyn was on top of the refills and extras. The whole crab was a delightful surprise, and I LOVED the salmon fish and chips. The fireplace made for some nice ambiance, as did the cute piano playing guy. We will visit again when we visit Seaside. THANK YOU! :)
Review Source:Very good food, which is a nice find in a coast town in January. Fresh fish tacos were delicious! Light, flaky fish and yummy fresh salsa brightened the chilly day. The food would deserve at least four stars, but I have to knock off a star because the service was less than stellar. I felt rushed the entire time, especially when the waitress dropped off our bill before we had cleared our plates. It was lunch and we were hardly the only ones there, so I'm not sure why we were being elbowed out so fast.
Anyway, I would come back for the food and hope that we had better service. The interior is cool, with tasteful fish town decor and a beautiful center fireplace. I hope I just had a fluke, because Finns definitely has potential.
I only popped in to try their clam chowder in a bread bowl and it was pretty good. Their chowder was a little too salty for me but the others with me said it was the perfect saltyness. The bread bowl was amazing. They use a garlic spread on the outside of it which when baked makes it so crispy and delicious.
The waitress was very attentive and we never had to ask to refill our drinks. I would probably go back to try other items on their menu.
I walked in with the intention to make reservations for a party of 10. Â The uninterested "hostess" said they don't take reservations, which I don't have a problem with since many restaurants don't. Â I asked for a copy of the menu to share with some of our guests since they don't eat seafood and was told they don't have anything like that, but I could look at the menu. Â This could have been a $200+ ticket and most restaurants would be all over trying to get that party to their restaurant. Â Needless to say, I made the reservations at another restaurant. Â I have had lunch there before and it was average, nothing to brag about, but I thought it would be worth giving another chance to see what dinner would be like. Â After this encounter and reading other reviews, I'm glad I didn't pursue this location.
Review Source:I'm so disappointed that I picked this place to eat for my day trip to Seaside, OR. Â Visiting from the midwest, I was so excited for real, fresh fish. Â I left very disappointed. Â It was a cool, foggy day and I was so looking forward to a bowl of clam chowder. Â I was delighted with the first spoonful but then it was all downhill from there. I felt like I was drinking flour water with chunks in it. Â It did not sit well with me and I felt disgusting after I ate it. Â I would not recommend, especially, if this is your one shot in Seaside.
Review Source:Not impressed. Chicken Parmesan was swimming in water at the bottom of the bowl, making the breading soggy and leaching out any taste from the chicken. I don't know if they just didn't drain the pasta or if their red sauce is just that watery, but either way it wasn't good. Kids had Fettucine Alfredo that was totally tasteless. We also had the fish and chips. The fish was good, but the fries were nothing special.
Wait staff and manager were friendly, but not that attentive. Left us hanging on drink refills and the check.
About half way through the meal the live piano started. Nice idea, but much too loud for such a small restaurant. It should be background music, not competing with table conversation.
I think there are much better food choices up and down the street. I wouldn't take a chance on this one.
You'll be paying for that extra sauce!
Everything was going fine until my friend and I asked for a small side of BBQ sauce and a side of aioli to go with our burgers and fries. Â Very nice waitress returned to tell us the cook said to charge us $1 each for the sauces. Â "Everything costs money," the server relayed to us," Â Not her words, but the cook's. Â My friend, a server herself, said flatly, "That's fine, but I won't be back. Â I'm in the business and that's just not done." Â Our server agreed and said she was embarrassed to be charging us and would see what she could do. Â Mind you, we're only talking a couple of dollars, but it was just the attitude of the cook, and the fact that in all my years of eating out, I've never been charged for extra dressing for my salad or a tiny cup of ketchup or BBQ sauce. Â
Left a nice tip for our server, but won't be going back because of the overall greedy attitude of the place.
My son and I after a long fun filled day were disappointed at every turn. After being somewhat snubbed by the host after we were seated, we were brought water and seeing two tables be seated and orders taken and both getting drinks and appetizers. We were there for over a half a hour before we decided to leave.
