A weekend night looking for a steak but settling for a burger  brought me to Five-O-One.
Five-O-One is a nice sports bar, but I'm not certain what it's really trying to be. Â There's lots of room, but a lot of wasted space and that space wasn't filled with pool tables or the like. Â Very odd.
I stopped by in the early evening one weekend night. Â There were about 7 or 8 people sitting around the bar and they gradually dwindled down to 4 -- about enough for each customer to have a TV all to him or herself. Â About that time it occurred to me that maybe they'd just opened and were still finding their niche. Â There were lots of Halloween decorations so the staff obviously know how to have fun.
The menu has pretty standard bar food and I picked one of the burger options.  I'm glad I did.  The burger was big  and cooked perfectly.  It was one of those where two hands doesn't quite handle it and with all the toppings, I needed to break it apart to get a bite-size portion.  The fried pickle chips were a nice touch. Â
The service was slow, but friendly. Â The bartender came around just enough to keep the beer in the glass cold and not be annoying with the interruptions.
