Foot of the Mountain Restaurant

I was really looking forward to dinner at this place. I like comfort food and chose not to dine at a fancier place with a friend. It is a clean place, people are friendly.  Menu looked interesting.  Then the food arrived.  I ordered the chicken livers, which were good but just a tad overcooked.  But I enjoyed them.  I chose mashed potatoes and cucumber and onion as sides. The mashies were INSTANT, not home made.  How can you say that you are a comfort food restaurant and not not serve real mashies. That is a BIG no no.  The cucumber and onions were sweet, probably something from a jar. Why sweet cucumbers?
Pies were good but nothing special. I was disappointed in the Foot of the Mountain.  They keep their prices down because they use cheaper produce or poor substitutes.
Shame on them.

This is a wonderful, family friendly friendly restaurant located at "the foot of the mountain" in Mercersburg, PA.   The corn firtters are to die for, and the fried chicken is like something my southern grandmother would have made.  Delicious.  Wonderful, friendly staff and a clean, comfy, retro atmosphere.
