The Foundry is a wonderful place to grab some drinks and appetizers. The fried pickle spears are delicious and the other appetizers are fair prices and taste good too. I have had a few of the main course menu items and wasn't totally impressed with them. They're good, but could be better. If you're going to get a main course I highly suggest the hamburger steak.
As far as the bar/drinking goes, this is a great place to go. The drinks are reasonably priced and the beer is always cold. The bartenders upstairs (we haven't been downstairs at all) and the GM are friendly people who are great at what they do.
I became impressed with The Foundry the first time I went. The GM had to cut someone off who had obviously had too much fun somewhere else earlier in the day. The guy was very rude to the GM, but he held his ground and was very professional and polite to the person being cut off. It was nice to see someone be responsible, professional, and courteous in that situation.
I also like the outdoor patio upstairs. It provides a nice place that you can go out and smoke while still being at the bar. The jukebox is the best in town too!
The Foundry can be many things, restaurant, bar, meeting room etc. Unfortunately it is probably worst at the restaurant side of things. I don't know a lot of people that actually had good meal experiences here. The food seems non-eventful and overpriced.
The place is probably best as a sports bar. The second floor is made for sports watching with big screen TVs. The balcony is also nice when the south Louisiana weather cooperates.
I had never been here as people had said it was expensive and the quality wasn't up to par.....well heck what a mistake to take their opinions....I wasn't pleasantly surprised by the industrial atmosphere that reminded my of an upscale place in the CBD.....I thought the prices were fair and certainly no higher than chili's....but when given a choice I choose local over chain. Â The specialty drinks were moderately priced at 6.50 (I had a a mint julep and my friend had a Cosmo) we started with the crawfish bread which I found was mushy but both my eight year old and friend thought it delicious....I ordered the slider appetizer and my friend the strawberry sensation salad which was delicious by the taste I had and I can say the same for the sliders....my boy had the grilled cheese and he seemed to enjoy it ....the fries were fresh and crispy from what I can assume were real potatoes.....overall a good time was had by us....I would highly recommend .....and I'll be back with the Pirate in tow.....
