Swarmed with vets, Cape kids sporting Nantucket Reds and all walks betwixt, The Fox Hole ranks supreme in Osterville dives. Nay, Southern Cape dives.
Nay, all of Cape dives. VFDubs represent.
A $5 membership buys a year of dirt cheap, ice cold adult beverages, while pool on a very well-kept table runs three measly quarters a game. Is that foosball in the corner? Why yes, yes it is.
Bar pizza toasted is like $5, popcorn is free, and you've now heard about all the food they feature. JJ's Roast Beef across the street offers member-only deals if you want to pack a dinner to drink over.
You really have to swing by on the busiest nights (Fri/Sat during season). Watching flat-brim, grizzled grunts toasting suds with Chet and his 22-yr-old popped-collar cronies all to a jukebox soundtrack featuring the alternating queue of Pink and Sugarland... well, it's quite the sight.
I adore this place. Either they took me for a sucker, or the membership has been raised to $5 at the door, but it's worth every penny regardless. Â Drinks are inexpensive (but cash only). It's not too crowded, but lively enough. If you're hungry, they'll make you a frozen pizza (but one at a time; they only have one oven). Fabulous dive!
Review Source:Like my father before me, every summer I pull out $2 and secure my membership to the Osterville Veterans' Club. Affectionately named the Fox Hole, this place is a real shithole, complete with sauced-up regulars left over from my dad's high school days and younger, even more intoxicated locals and visitors from far and wide.
Thanks to the rainbow of membership cards I've accumulated over the years, I've seen times good and times bad at the Hole. Now that Joe's Twin Villa is no longer (R.I.P. Fan Man), this remains as the only true dive bar in the area; complete with a jukebox, foosball and collar-poppin' locals/ wannabes.
Cheap drinks, free popcorn and dreamz of meeting a future (or current) millionaire keep the young ladies coming back for more, year after year. Expect to be disappointed and you might be pleasantly surprised! Truly, this place is an institution; and, if you're in the O'ville area, it's a must-see. Bring your boat shoes and sense of humor.
EXCLUSIVE CLUB!!!!!!!!
so cheap, juke, foosball, frosty mugs (i want one now and its 930 on monday morning, is that ok?)
always a drink special, we were drinking $5 bulleit bourbon last time, thats ridic
def in my top 5 bars on cape
look forward to getting my colorful new membership card each year
crowded with madras shorts and quited handbags on weekend summer nights, handful of locals the rest of the time
free cheese and crackers in the afternoon and popcorn all the time!
really cheap beers gottta love that! pool table and juke box keep me entertained. its seems like an underground bar. The womans bathroom is the only thing i can complain about. im not a huge girl, but i can barely sit in the toilet without my knees whacking the stall door open. its tiny!
Review Source:The Fox Hole is a VFW club that serves as the town's year-round watering hole. Â A $2 membership gets you in the door for the calendar year. Â $1.50 bud light drafts are the specialty. Â Go ahead and splurge on the $3 drinks! Â Newly installed plasma screens make this a great place to watch the game while getting hammered. Â It's like partying in your friend's basement, only cooler! Â Look for plenty of pastel shirts and popped collars in the summer, while the locals swap stories and get rowdy. Â As a year-round "weekender" this is my place of choice. Â It is also the only pool table in town, with the exception of Joe's Twin Villa, which is seasonal.
