I was in the area attending a training session for work and a few of us decided to come here for lunch. Â We thought it would be nice to try something in the area that wasn't a chain restaurant to get a good feel for the place and support the local businesses. Â When we walked in it was mostly empty (and eerily quiet) but there were a few men wearing business suits there having working lunches. Â We thought we had chosen a nice quiet spot to have a quick bite to eat, but I left feeling absolutely underwhelmed.
The menu is incredibly varied and the prices are totally affordable, but the food itself was only so-so...I'd call it sub-par, at best. Â To be honest I probably would have enjoyed my lunch better if I had just gotten a salad at a drive-thru restaurant.
The staff was friendly, but unbearably SLOOOOOOW. Â There was probably more staff in the restaurant than patrons, at the time, and it took forever to get our food...forever to get our checks (even though we had asked)...and forever to get our credit cards back once we had paid. Â As I stated before, we were on a lunch break from a training session and we had limited time (we were given an hour, so we didn't think it would be difficult to get in and out quickly, but apparently speedy service is not something they do here). Â We ended up being late getting back because lunch had taken over an hour and a half! Â This is all considering we all knew what we wanted to order and placed our orders right away...well, right when she got around to coming to our table to get our order.
It is dark, outdated and definitely divey. Â I imagine this is probably a decent dive-bar type place to come get cheap drinks and watch a game, but I definitely was not at all impressed. Â My suggestion would be to find somewhere else to go and leave this place as a last resort...unless you're already drunk.
two stars seemed kind of harsh, at first. Â but then i remembered the mediocre pizza, the stale beer smell and the VERY loud exhaust fan located in the dining area and two starts seemed about right. Â my guess is that it's a decent place to get drunk and watch sports on TV but there are plenty of places out there for that. Â i went for lunch and it was dead quiet (except for the exhaust fan) and two of the TVs were tuned to fishing shows. Â maybe i'm being generous with two stars.....
Review Source:Came here on a Saturday afternoon. It was quieter than I expected for a sports bar. We were craving burgers and decided to come here because of reviews we'd read. To be honest, the burger was just OK. We ordered the Inferno and expected fire but it was rather easy. For a plain burger it was very good, if you like that sort of thing. We also ordered a personal pizza, wanted the 5 alarm pizza (spicy chicken and hot sauce) but got the Red Hat (ham and jalapenos?). Waitress was very sweet and apologetic for it but it was not at all what I wanted. Both dishes sounded super hot and spicy on the menu but came out normal. I'd come here again for drinks because the atmosphere is good, sportsy and clean. But i doubt I'd crave the food we had.
P.S: I did love the nachos on a previous visit.
I have been in here several times. Â This time we stopped in for a quick lunch. Â I have to say this was one of the best lunches I have had in quite some time.
I started off with the baked potato soup. Â It was very good. Â It had good sized chunks of potato and bacon. Â I then had the capicolla sandwhich. Â It was spicy ham and provolone on swirt rye bread. Â All of the flavors worked well together.
The place is a large sports bar and grill essentially. Â It is a little dark and dingey inside, but the food is pretty good and pretty cheap.
Huge joint with a couple of different areas. Â I like to sit right up at the bar. Â NTN to feed my trivia addiction. Â Vast beer selection - got some oddities that you cannot find at the other local bars. Â Always clean. Â Friendly, efficient service. Â Regular bar-type fare at value prices. Â Older 20's-early 30's crowd. Â Ton's of TVs and packed during MSU games. Â Good for large groups. Â Just a little farther out than I'd like for it to be.
