We came into Fresh Ketch over the July 4th weekend. Main street Hyannis was absolutely electric! We walked into the bar just in time for the KJ's opening rendition of David Grey's "Babylon". Dude wasn't too bad, but just took it way too serious. Things got progressively awkward. It just seemed like he was trying WAY too hard to be funny.

On a positive note- the place was PACKED. Mainly 20's and 30's. The bartenders were on point and the drinks were great! I recommend checking it out, just try not to let the KJ ruin your night.

Fresh Ketch is right, the seafood dishes were spot on.  You walk in and the first thing you see is a full lobster tank.  The ambience is very Cape Cod Nautical and the service is top notch.  Will go back on our next visit!!

Horrible, horrible, horrible and another horrible. Stopped there yesterday for a late lunch with a friend. Started by ordering an appetizer of 1.5 pounds of steamers. Not sure if they even have a scale or if it works as no way was this that much steamers. Was more like .5 pounds. Probably was a good thig as first, they were extremely dirty to the extent I was wiping mud off on my napkin. Secondly, they were totally tasteless, completely with no flavor, more like stale white bread.

We then moved on to splitting a friend seafood platter. This consisted of an average pile of french fries covered with exactly 2 scallops, maybe 5 fried clams, maybe 6 small shrimp, an equal number of calamari and a small piece of haddock. These were all of average taste which was only enhanced by the cocktail sauce.

Don't walk, run away from this place, very fast and go to McDonalds instead which has better tasting food. Would never ever go back or tell anyone to go there.

There coupon said 50% off second entree. They made us buy two drinks, our family usually drinks water then they took the discount off a sandwich. Very disappointed!

I'm glad we didn't try the food. We only came for karaoke, so I can only speak for the bar experience.

Crowd: horrible. We were packed elbow-to-elbow with the drunk college-kid cape summer crowd. Just terrible people.

The bartenders: absolutely amazing. I spent several minutes watching them scurry around taking care of 10 people at a time without missing a beat.

Karaoke itself: ugh. The KJ was crude, dropping f-bombs left and right, and wasted 3-4 minutes between songs by talking, when he could have gotten twice as many singers in. The rotation was huge, that's understandable. The problem was seeing people that signed-up after us singing before us. Checking the rotation, we had been sitting at 18 in line for over an hour while regulars were brought-in and given precedence.

In short, if you're a drunk college kid who enjoys excessive vulgarity, a KJ that won't shut up, wall-to-wall crowds, horrible people surrounding you, and are willing to sing at the end of the night, maybe, because you're not a regular... Then you might enjoy the place.

Decent, but not amazing.  Chowder thick and tasty, but small portion.  Entrees decent and moderate priced.  Loved the side dishes (mashed potatoes and wonderful vegetables).  Entrees (broiled seafood medly, and fried fish & chips) were good, but not great.   We went on a Saturday evening and were surprised how few were eating there.  There own large off street parking lot a nice perk.

Maybe I should gift them 4 stars, but it just didn't get me all that excited in the limited time I spent there. No happy hour on Sunday that I could tell (false advertising on the tourist area map!) but it is a good spot to drop in on out of the heat. Bar a big tv and they will let you change the channel. 2 stars right there. Justin the bartender was very lively and personable. The clam chowder, however, was a little disappointing- not acceptable in any New England seaside town. Apparently karaoke on Sunday gets good, but my bed just seems like a better place to pass the time tonite. Would give this place another visit for an afternoon of beers and golf, but I'm not sure the prices of food are justified.

First off, I have not ordered any food at the Fresh Ketch, so I am only rating my beverage experience.

I recently visited the Fresh Ketch on a Saturday night.

If you want a good laugh, the Fresh Ketch is where you need to go!  They have the worst karaoke ever!

The karaoke may have been particularly horrible because it was pushing 11:30 by the time we arrived, and obviously the performers had imbibed in a 'few drinks'  Anyway, getting a few drinks in ourselves, watching the performers made for excellent entertainment!

Next time I'm in Hyannis I will be back to catch some freshness!

It'd give it 3.5 and it certainly was better than most of these reviews make it out to be.  It's a huge space with a good sized bar but we sat outside on a warm Sat. Service was fairly attentive altho she charged us for an extra drink which she took  care of.  We just split a fried clam platter that was by no means heaping but a good amount of food and pretty well priced at $17.95. Clams were tasty, fries were decent, great cole slaw altho it came in one of those ridiculous little plastic containers. Friend thought his lemonade was weak but the clams made us happy.

The menu was totally different than what was online. The prices were way higher and the dishes that sounded appealing weren't on the menu in the restaurant. I had the Fruits De Mar. It had way too much seasoning I could have choked and the mussels were very questionable. Should have known better by the name.

Yeah. I read the reviews. I knew what I was getting in to. Unfortunately, the people I was with aren't on Yelp. This place was absolutely terrible.

Despite several open tables, we had to wait in the bar. Whatever. The bar are has potential, lots of windows and nice light, but apparently, it is populated with the absolute dregs of Hyannis summer society, and if you know The Cape, that can be pretty terrible. You know that DJ from Rhode Island who is on the Jersey Shore? The people who hang out in this bar auditioned before he did.

We were eventually sat in their loud, terribly lit, not redecorated since 1989 dining room. The menu was typical seafood fare you would find on Cape Cod. We started with some potato skins. They were terrible. Some had bacon, others did not. No seasoning, no flavor, no nothing. I wasn't surprised. Other people ordered seafood. There was no way. Nothing about this place said the 'ketch' was fresh. I had chicken parm. It was boring and watery, but I was pretty sure it wouldn't make me sick.

Fortunately we passed on dessert and escaped before I had to look at more armpits and camouflage pants.

One good thing, our server was polite and efficient. Based on how the rest of the staff acted, he was probably new.

Reading this review, I am like what?!
My friends and I got there for the Appy Hour time and ordered up a storm!  The food tasted great.  For the amount of food we had and how it tasted, we got a bargain!

The waiter was a nice dude, as well.

If you like Margaritas, get them here.  It won't taste like their mix is 12 years old.

I came here one afternoon for a late lunch.  The service was a bit slow, but overall it was a cute place, and a great location right in downtown Hyannis.  I ordered the special, which was a lobster BLT with sweet potato fries, and it was very good (although I don't often eat lobster, so I might not be the best judge...)  My friends also seemed to enjoy their food, and they got a swordfish sandwhich and the seafood-reuben.  I would say this place wasn't anything special, and there are probably better places for seafood in the area.

I'm really only reviewing one dish here... and that is the Seafood Stew. I would get it regularly when I was working down the Cape and it is very, very good. Everyone that I have taken here has loved it. It has a thick cream with sherry base (like lobster bisque) and lots seafood--including clams, crab, white fish, and more. It is definitely worth trying and if you go here, the stew in a bread bowl will fill you right up and you won't need to order anything else... which seem to be getting bad reviews. :)

Cost: $7-$9 depending on if you get the bread bowl.

Barf.  Barf barf barf barf.  Barf.  Cannot stress the barfing.  We paid $15 for something that was easily worth negative $20.  Yes.  You would have to PAY me to eat here again.  We had to send back some food and eat again at another restaurant.  Only good thing about this place is that our server was nice.  But no matter how nice the servers are, the food still stinks.  DO...NOT...GO.  Barf.

Came here on a whim after being turned away from Baxters so we were starved - ugh what a mistake - mid September on a Saturday night and there was no one at the bar and only 1 couple having dinner (Main Street was packed with people BTW), that was red flag number 1 - our waitress took about 10 minutes to get us our drinks (1 cocktail and 1 soda) and take our orders which was our 2nd red flag (there was no one else in the restaurant for christs sakes!) and unfortunately it took another 10 minutes for her to bring our our chowders (which were not hot) - so after about a half hour of starving, sampling lukewarm mediocre soup and our 15 month old daughter who had "had it" we canceled our dinner orders, paid the check and left.

PS. the decor in Red Lobster is much more attractive.

PPS. We hit Jerry's Seafood for takeout on the way back to our hotel and it was SLAMMIN - amazing fried clams, fries, onion rings and cole slow - we're retards and should've gone there in the first place!

This is a rather unfortunate restaurant.  We came here in hopes of finding some good seafood at a reasonable price and left with a crappy experience, wishing we had gone somewhere else.

The meal started off good enough and we were able to get a nice table on the patio.  We ordered little necks and oysters for an appetizer and when they finally came out they were not prepared correctly.  None of the little necks or oysters were cut from the shell and they were not served with the traditional cocktail sauce and horseradish. Picture just some open shells on a plate served with a sorf of, "here ya go" attitude from out emotionless waitress.  After sending them back, we waited an additional 30 minutes to finally be served some properly done appetizers.

I ordered fried clam strips and it was as if they had been prepared weeks ago or just completely over cooked.  Seriously, how the heck can you go wrong with frying up some clams!?  They had the taste and texture of rubber.  I understand that seafood restaurants on the Cape have a lot to live up to but this place just completely bombed.  I say spend the extra few bucks and sit down to a restaurant that has some class and can prepare seafood correctly.

The one saving grace that kept this place from getting one star is that the outdoor patio was actually very nice.  It might be a nice place to sit down and have a few beers but definitely avoid the food.

Came here on a whim looking for a place to grab a quick bite, the host pulled us in promising great lobster!  We ordered steamed clams, clam chowder and various seafood and steak dishes. The clams were too gritty for my liking, though I'm used to smaller clams that are less "sea" like. The chowder was OK, good but watery. I personally had the stuffed shrimp which was OK as well. The shrimp was tasty but the stuffing tasted plain and generic.

Overall, the restaurant, staff and service was good, clean and friendly. Not sure if I'd go back though.

The food was decent and the service was stellar for an impromptu party of 12 (thanks, Josh!). The highlight of the evening was my introduction to karaoke. The only weird (and intriguing) bit about this place was the clientele.... there was a fair number of sketchy characters including a guy that I nicknamed "serial killer rapist" who sung Nine Inch Nails (the song that has a chorus with the lyrics "I want to f-ck you like an animal") in a monotone. I still have nightmares about this guy..... Otherwise, a fun time though lol!

This place is horrible...the bartenders suck....the food sucks...my appetizer came put the same time my food did and the "fresh" local lobster was over cooked and didn't taste fresh at all...this place sucks.

We came across Fresh Ketch when looking for a reasonably priced seafood restaurant in the Hyannis area for a party of 6.  We were attracted by the variety of fresh options on the menu, but our experience was only average, especially given our expectations for a Cape Cod seafood restaurant.

Food: 3 stars. The food was hit-or-miss. The crab cake appitizer was very tasty and the fish and chips were a solid choice, but the lobster bisque was mediocre at best and the sea scallops were cooked too long and came out chewy. The scrod was unimpressive, but the lobster was decent.

Ambiance: 2 stars. Despite some seafood themed accessories on the walls, the ambiance was only slightly greater than a Red Lobster.

Service: 2 stars. It took 15 minutes after we were seated for our table to be initially noitced, and, even though the waitress was nice, the service was generally slow.

I would come back here again for some of the more basic options (this is a decent place to grab a cup of chowder and fish & chips), but I'd look elsewhere for a dinnertime seafood experience.

On our first night in Hyannis, my friends and I embarked upon the adventure of trying to find a place for dinner that was not too expensive and didn't have crappy food either.  Fresh Ketch was ok, definitely on the expensive side, with entrees ranging from 12-20 dollars for food that was rather bland and often served with french fries rather than any real attempt at a side. I had the baked halibut which was underwhelming, but portions were large, the vegetables it came with were good if unseasoned, and I left feeling full.

Maybe it's because I'm a California guy lacking true East Coast seafood expertise, but I really liked this place. The outside doesn't look very impressive at all, but the inside is decorated very nicely. My friends and I went for early dinner and the place was almost completely empty. The server was very attentive (I'd hope so since we were some of the only people there), and the food tasted delicious.

Being near Boston, my friends decided to try out the clam chowder boulle, which they said was pretty good, they had more to say about the bread than the soup itself though. Some of the dishes ordered were fish & chips, broiled seafood combo, and seafood platter (see pics). I had the seafood platter, and it was A LOT of food- fried clam strips, scallops, shrimp, calamari, and fish. I was surprised at the amount of food for such a reasonable price ($24ish). I didn't think I'd be able to finish it. Initially, I had two things going for me: I was deathly hungry, and my friend challenged me to eat everything, fries and all. Soon I picked up another reason to finish it all- it tasted delicious. Eventually I cleaned the whole plate, fries and all. All the other dishes got thumbs up as well.

Delicious food, good service, very nice looking restaurant, makes Red Lobster obsolete and inadequate. 4.5 stars.

Not terrible but not great either. We were hungry and walking down Main street and decided to check it out for lunch.  Very mediocre food, service was fine. The clam chowder was mostly all potatoes and had very little clams.  I had a tuna sandwich and the bread was like wonderbread and the tuna was canned (given the name of the restaurant and given we are in Hyannis a fishing town I was expecting something fresh).  Might be a good spot to hit in the evening for a beer but given all the other great options in Hyannis I would pass on it for food.

so i don't like seafood but my girlfriend wanted lobster so we went to this place.  i guess it is good for seafood, i got the chicken parm which was mediocre, but the service was horrible.  for the price that i paid i was extremely disappointed with how we were served.  we wern't even half way done with our appetizers and they brought out our dinners.  i would never recommend this restaurant to anyone and never want to go back.  i feel ripped off.
but here's the real kicker, i ordered buffalo wings as an app. when I took a bite out of the wing, i realized it was just fried with no buffalo sauce, I let the waitress know, and she took the dish away- returning 2 minutes later with the dish now with buffalo sauce, IN THIS DISH WAS THE HALF EATEN CHICKEN WING ONLY NOW BASTED WITH SAUCE!

I actually enjoyed this place quite a bit, but there were some major flaws that forced me to give it to 2 stars.  I would probably give it 2.5 stars.

Entrees - I got the seafood over pasta, which included clams, mussels, scallop, lobster and shrimp.  It was a pretty good deal at $22.  Unfortunately, the clams were not scrubbed properly, and there was sand all over the dish.  The white wine sauce it was in was pretty good, though a bit salty.  Also, it was supposed to come with garlic bread, but they forgot to bring it out.  My friend got the breaded schrod.  It was decently tasty.

Appetizer - We tried the clam chowder, and it was pretty tasty.

Service - Very friendly and accommodating

Wine - Really reasonably priced bottles of wine.  We got the Beringer Chardonnay for only $20!
