The New Frontier is THE place to eat in Belgrade.  And by that I suppose I could mean it is the hottest, trendiest dining establishment that you oh-so-casually namedrop to your chic friends.  Or that is has caught on so well that now all the hipsters won't go near it anymore.  But no, what I mean is this: as far as I can tell, The New Frontier Saloon is the one and only place you can get a meal in Belgrade.

That said, we had a pretty decent lunch here.  You walk in, look at the bulletin board by the kitchen, and what it says there?  That's what you are having.  The day we stopped in, the lunch deal was a cheeseburger with soup and salad bar, drink (tea coffee or lemonade) included.

I knew we were in for something special when my Dad asked, before we were served, what the soup was for today.  The proprietor shrugged and asked the table behind us, "What did the soup end up being?"  One of the diners stared down into her cup as she poked around and had another taste and replied, "I can't tell yet, I think it's spicy vegetable"    I guess some days the kitchen just starts adding to the soup pot and see what they end up with.  For the record, it was pretty delicious.  The nice touch were the slices of homemade cake on the salad bar, for dessert.

I don't know what they serve at other times of the day (or on other days) but it's a nice little place with a visually interesting decor.  If you're passing through Belgrade, it's worth a stop.

The new frontier saloon is a unique dinning experience. Belgrade is a town of like maybe 100 people and there is this saloon with its opera house as the only operating business on main street. The bar's walls are filled with the brand symbol of area ranchers/farmers and is very old fashioned looking and a must see by itself. Ate there for their noon buffet and they had the best biscuits I have ever tasted. Literally probably ate 10 of them and usually there noon specials/buffets are mouth watering. Even their stew, which usually is a no-no to get was filled with vegetables and hunks of beef seasoned to perfection. WIsh I worked around Belgrade more often. Would recommend to anyone!
