Good food. Somewhat noisy mildly annoying, but that's to be expected at a place like this. We could have elected to sit at a table and skipped the show. Each of us got got a hibachi meal of steak, salmon, or scallops. All were well-prepared, and we were serves plenty of food. Plan to spend at least $20/person.
Review Source:The dreamsicle martini is tasty and the bartenders are very nice.
Our Chef at the big hot table was quite the showman. Not only did he preform the standard egg balancing tricks and the obligatory onion volcano, he did it all to music. It really was fun and the kids loved it. Best of all, he did not force me to try to catch a shrimp in my mouth. The food was well prepared and tasty. The sushi was great, very fresh.
While this is not my favorite way to enjoy Japanese cuisine, way to much salt and butter for my taste, it keeps the young ones entertained and hopefully will be a gateway for them to try other types of Japanese and later more ethnic food as they get older. No child should grow up thinking chicken nuggets and fries are where it's at.
And bonus, free meal on your birthday (show ID) if your party is 6 or more. Score one for me!
Stopped here for lunch on trip from Pittsburgh to Columbus, and ordered the lunch special sashimi combo ($13) with a seaweed salad ($5). Â The salad was very good, but the sashimi was unimpressive. Â While the quality of the fish itself was okay, the simple ten-piece assortment of maguro (tuna), sake (salmon), super white tuna (escolar), and tai (snapper) was uninspiring (i.e. these are particularly cheap cuts of fish). Â Service was on the cold and aloof side.
Review Source:I rarely give someone a bad or mediocre review but this place was definitly slacking. For one we were at a table with my husband me and four other ppl and we all waited at least 18 minutes to be asked what we would like to drink. Finally drinks came we ordered. The girl must of messed up the four people's orders next to us to the point they just said fine we will just take it as is. I ordered a appetizer the waitress forgot all about it. My food was not good! I can't even say it was ok. The hibatchi cook was very strange. It made it super uncomfortable. Â I'm a vegetarian but my husband is not. His food was also mediocre at best. One thing that is very good is the deserts. The little red velvet cake was excellent.
Review Source:We stopped here for dinner on our way back from Cabela's.  While we were happy they were able to seat us without a reservation, we were not pleased that they put us in a room with a ton of people at two grills which were attached.  They filled all available chairs which had people literally on top of each other.  The service was slow, almost non-existent  (we were there for a half and hour before our drinks arrived and the waitress was able to take our order).  The other grill was beginning to be used by the chef who turned on dance music that was entirely too loud for a large party that contained small children.  My daughter was very scared by the music and after my husband took her out of the room, the chef made a snide comment and turned the music back up louder.  I think the experience would have been better if they had seated us at a less crowded grill and if there wasn't an emphasis on a party atmosphere.  We actually left before we even ordered because our daughter was not going to be able to handle all the stimulation and the waitress was kind enough not to charge us for our drinks.  After reading other reviews online of this restaurant, I'm shocked we got by with this because I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews of the staff.  Proceed with caution if you have young children.
Review Source:Food was better than average but we were disappointed with a forced 18% gratuity on our large party. In this restaurant, a party of 10 is no more work per person than a small party since most of the cooking is done at the table.
I did ask the manager to remove the charge so we could tip what we thought was appropriate and he did accommodate us. In the final analysis the food was good but the service was well below par.
I went here for a birthday dinner, we sat grill side and all ordered something different. I'm a vegetarian so I got the habachi fusion veggies with noodles. Others got habachi chicken, steak and lobster and one person in the party opted for shrimp tempura. When you order the habachi meals, a small salad and cup of clear soup comes with it (these can not be substituted).
The salad was topped with a delightful creamy dressing and the "clear soup" may sound bland but its actually full of flavor. The soup consists of chicken broth (I'm not a strict vegetarian anymore), dried mushrooms, a tiny bit of egg, and scallion.
On to the habachi, the chefs are really entertaining and get everyone involved. I don't want to give anything away but the experience is amazing! You'll laugh, you'll holler, you'll have a great time unless of course you're a stick in the mud. First, the rice and noodles are prepared, then veggies, last thing on the grill is your meat so there is no cross contamination. Meat is done according to your preference and everyone was pleased with their selections. You are also given 2 dipping sauces; 1 garlic and 1 ginger...oh ginger, it makes everything taste better.
The shrimp tempura was a huge portion. 4 or 5 skewers of stacked shrimp in addition to sweet potatoes, onions, green peppers, and other veggies.
Everyone left with happy, satisfied bellies.
My first experience at a Japanese Steakhouse. Not bad. We had to wait quite awhile for our chef to come out which was really the only negative aspect here.
Food tasted fresh and good. I really enjoyed the yellow  "yum-yum sauce" that went on the seafood. The chef was pleasant and engaging. I liked the rice and noodles which are two things I normally don't care for. We got a ton of food and left very full. I don't have any other place to compare this to, but it was a good meal!
It was a great meal. The sushi rolls were excellent, just the right amount of spicy in the spicy rolls, the sashimi was fresh,  with excellent texture. The teppan yaki was very good, though I felt it a tad overpriced and I am used to  northern Virginia/DC area pricing. I ordered the filet & scallops, which was $5 more than the same thing in Fairfax, VA
Review Source:Surprisingly one of the best hibachi grill/sushi restaurants I have been to. Great decor, service and food. The chef's are entertaining and throw in a few tricks that I have not seen at other similar restaurants. Prices are very reasonable. You will be impressed. Be sure to take a few friends with you for an enjoyable dining experience! If going at prime dining time (Friday or Saturday evenings, call ahead for guaranteed seating.
Review Source:Okay....I knew sushi in wheeling was riskier than russian roulete, but it wasn't bad. Â The dynamite roll was good even.
We really came for the steak seafood a la Benihana and it was good. Â I had the filet and scallops both of which were cooked very well. Â My wife had the filet and shrimp...also very good.
This place was surprisingly good for a place like Wheeling (small and out of the way). Â Though the sushi wouldn't fly on the coast, it's better than you think if you're from out of town. Â If you're local, this is a big city restaurant here in your small town.
Sushi in Wheeling?!? Bah, I said. It may exist but surely it will be terrible.
How wrong I was. At home for vacation I took the whole family to Fusion expressly to try the sushi. My little brother (who, thankfully, is an adventurous eater like me) and I devoured the VERY reasonably priced sushi and sashimi sampler for two, which, if I remember correctly, contained eighteen pieces of sashimi, twelve pieces of sushi, two rolls, two miso soups and two salads. For only. Fifty. Dollars. I would have expected to pay seventy-five.
And the best part? It was unbelievably delicious. I mean mouth-wateringly good. So was the seaweed salad, tangy and perfect in texture. I always say you can judge the quality of the forthcoming raw fish by the seaweed salad; I wasn't disappointed.
I'm docking one star because it really was too loud in there - probably because each of the hibachi grills are pretty close to one another. My 80-year-old grandmother was not loving it. Overall, however, an excellent place for new and experienced sushi eaters!
We picked this new restaurant for Christmas Eve dinner and were pleased. Â This is the second location for a restaurant concept that started in Vienna, WV. Â The sushi and sashimi both were fresh and well-presented -- the sushi bar may be their best feature. Â The Alaska roll was particularly good. Â The tempura also was impressive. Â The vegetables were chopped small, well-coated, and not in the least greasy. Â The noodle soup was flavorful, although celery was substituted for the radish or bok choy that's usually used. Â This was listed on the menu as soba but udon was substituted because they're not stocking buckwheat noodles. Â Most of the restaurant was set up for hibachi cooking, which we didn't sample. Â Since it's a fusion menu, we also tried the seafood pad thai, and this was very disappointing. Â Bottom line: Â Wheeling finally has a decent sushi bar.
