Eating in restaurant  is good but take out is really an excuse for what theme he describes.
Ordered a salad recently got home just romain lettuce  and splice or two of tomato. No avocado onions cucumbers , salad fixings
Chicken burrito consisted of rice and few beans, excuse me a bag of chips which they could hav kept for themselves.
Shame on you Gabby's not as you once were
Ive eaten lunch here and done take out dinner. Â
The guac is really really good, no doubt about it. Â I usually have a quesadilla (chicken), and its good as well. Â Not the best I've ever had, but good. Â
It is a little pricey, but across the street from another pricy place, so I gather the area can support the prices. Â
Ellenville is a great town and its nice to have good Mexican food.
Gaby's is one of the best restaurants in Ellenville. Â The quesadillas are amazing (Note: they will come with sour cream on top, so ask that it be on the side if you don't like that.)
Go to the Shadowland Theatre to see a great play; visit Gaby's afterwards (if they're still open) for dinner afterwards.
I don't know where these other people have been eating, but it must have been somewhere other than Gaby's in Ellenville. Â I'm giving it one star for the guac, other than that the food was big, but bland. Â The service was pleasant, but slow and the prices are on the high side for the quality.
Review Source:Great place. Â Found it on a random wandering. Â Strange to see such a great place of this ethnic variety in such a random area. Â I too saw that (like the other reviewers) they make the guacamole right at the table; similar to how some French restaurants mix up the tartar in front of you. Â It was, however, the guac or a margarita for me. Â As I was trying not to over do it. Â I got a peach margarita for myself and my wife. Â She loved it, which means it was sweet and not with too much alcohol. Â I thought it was girly, but then the server was aware we were splitting it. Â :)
I got a great big blackened skirt steak burrito, which cam with everything all inside (including guac). Â It was great! Â Probably best burrito I've ever had. Â They advertise it as being cooked over a charcoal fire, which for my money is the best grilling technique for this type of fare. Â My wife got the chimichangas. Â I use plural, because they are a mite smaller than the burritos, however you get two instead of on enormous burrito. Â They had many types, however I cannot remember which kind she got. Â She was not a great fan, but then I didn't taste them because my monstrous burrito almost knocked me over. Â The corn chips and salsa that were gratuit were fantastic as well....
Great place overall. Â A definite must-go. Â And if you're ever passing through Ellenville, I insist you go! Â And check my photo of the burrito! Â A little grainy because of poor light, and I was missing a ruler as a scale or something. Â Trust, me; it was enormous! Â It was a monster! (snicker)
