Are you kidding me!? Don't waste your money. We ordered 4 mediums last nite, got 'em home and found they were all burned to a crisp. Called to complain and were treated with complete disinterest. The lady gave no apology and offered no compensation. Very lousy customer service along with lousy food!

Great local bar, good pizza, cheap beer. I always have fun hanging out at the Gaff with friends. Dog friendly, too!

Was so bummed that we found this place on our last day in Port A. Funky, cool set up with some pretty crazy patrons. It's definitely an experience. We'll have to go back and see the back patio in action (we went at lunchtime on New Year's Day). There's a couple race belts for belt sanders and a stage...I'm in! Don't forget that the pizza is flipping amazing!! Xtra Cheese NOT needed....perfection in every bite.

    SAND BELT RACES!!! ARRRRRR PIRATES.

    Need I say more?

if so, this is a great dive. The pizza is fine, and in fact great. They have pitchers and sand belt races. A cool pirate themed (not too far though) dive on beach street. One of my favorites.

Stumbled upon the gaff while in search of a margarita. La playa was closed and we heard loud reggae music and followed. Turns out it was the 4th annual reggae fest and it was just kicking off. Me and the boy toy grabbed a beer and sat outside to listen to the very young band play. My beer was served in a mason jar, which i love! The music was great and the people were friendly. Next time I will stay longer and have to try their pizza. reviews seem pretty mixed.

I read the reviews before deciding to order pizza from here. Listen, there aren't that many great take-out options on the island, so we figured that we could handle some pizza from here. We weren't about to go get Hot Pockets from the IGA to cook in our hotel room, but maybe we should have.

I smelled trouble when I called to order. The guy at the other end was a bartender I think. He sounded confused and we carried on quite the awkward conversation. Yes, I want a large, cheese pizza please.

We received our pizza hot out of the oven more than an hour and a half after ordering. That's 90 minutes, folks. We were told 45-60 minutes on the phone, so when we showed up 60 minutes later, my bf ran in to pick it up, but ran back out almost 10 minutes later, pizzaless. We went to the beach to kill time and came back 20 minutes later, still waited another 5 minutes, and received our pizza.

THIS is what I've been waiting for? Bland, flavorless, store-bought crust. Overcooked (why did we have to wait so long if that meant you were overcooking our pizza?).

If people think that this is good pizza, I truly feel sorry for them. Was it disguisting? No. Did I eat it? Yes (Hey, I was starving after waiting 90 minutes for a pizza). Please, please, please, go elsewhere for pizza. It might be a fun place to hang out, but they do not seem to be equipped for efficient pizza-making.

This charming dive serves delicious pizza and cold beer in glass jars. Seems to be where the locals go.

I love this place, probably visit every month or two and it is my favorite Port A watering hole.  Keep in mind this place is a dive bar of the plywood floor variety, but a 4 star connoisseur's dive of the highest order, from the hand scrawled tile tags on the ceiling to the pun laden old joking signs hanging everywhere, the pervasive pirate themes to the drag race like sand belt racetracks in the back yard.

The people are great.  The barmaids are always friendly (this is definitely a place that has barmaids not server persons) as is the owner "Kip".

The Pizza is great.  Not hand tossed authentic northeastern style pizza, rather what results when you take an OK pre-made crust and dump some very nicely seasoned sauce, then massive quantities of real cheese and toppings then stuff it into a searing hot electric oven.  It's good.

Beer selection is pretty good for a local watering hole kind of place with Fat Tire and some TX brewed Ale along with the Miller Lite.  Drafts are served in mason jars not mugs.

You will meet lots of friendly people here, locals, sunbirds and vacationers.  Everyone always seems happy to spark up a conversation with a stranger.  Plenty of rough edges here and there...but not scary unless you're frightened by colorful language, colorful stories/backgrounds, rough clothing and rougher complexions.

I really don't understand the hype.  The pizza is overcooked cardboard.  This place is a shack, dive bar frequented by bikers.  It's dirty and unkempt.  Sure, the people are nice.  They are making bank.  They haven't reinvested in this place ever.  They have a table top, plug in, easy bake oven for their pizzas.  That's why the pizza takes so long.  Total piece of crap.

I can't review on the food, because we never ate here.  We were smoked out as soon as we walked in the door.  Sorry, but eating in a smoke filled place isn't my thing,

Awesome awesome awesome pizza! Yes expect to wait (especially in the summer) because they can only make a few pizzas at a time. (That's why its gooooooood) Kick back and have a few drinks while you wait.

I live in Port A..I have eaten at every place in town, been in ALL the junk shops and have basically been disappointed with EVERY place, including the Gaf...HOWEVER, the atmosphere truely IS wonderful...Ive never heard of the Pirate Pub Crawl; truely a bar Lushes delight, certainly nothing I would ever want to do...Or even talk about-NOW, THE PIZZA---ITS AWEFUL...There used to be this deliciously sexy, gorgeous, dreadlocked bikini chick that worked there-she was always sweaty and dirty and she would put the pizza in the oven,(its nothing more than a frozen crust with sometimes fresh topping) take the pizza out, put it in a box while sweating all over it-she was so sexy Nobody seemed to care-I sure didnt (Heck, give me a shot of that sweat baby!!! HAHA)-the PIZZA WAS GOOD THEN AND I'M NOT EVEN A DRUNK-drunk with lust maybe-THE LAST PIZZA I HAD WASNT DONE, new gal hated leaving the bar for the freezer (again, its basically Red Baron-sorry Red Baron..) And the freezer and oven at the end of the bar....:(
ANYONE THAT PUTS A FIVE STAR ON THIS PIZZA WAS DRUNK!~

Beer selection very average to below average...

    FUN PLACE THOUGH-WORTH A VISIT.

We went here to watch the "belt sander drag races" on a Saturday afternoon.  The beer was cold and the crowd was friendly so I guess you can't ask for much more.  I doubt this place will ever make the "Guide Michelin" but it is a pleasant place for spending a few hours.  The more beer we consumed the more exciting the racing seemed.

This place is awesome :)  The atmosphere is fun (you can't help but feel happy inside and out back), the staff is super friendly, the beer is cold, and the pizza was sooooo good.  We went in on a Friday, and found out about the Belt Sander races.  The races are run on every other Saturday (which, for us, just so happened to be the next day), so we went back the next day.  It was so much fun!  They have a track set up out back, with a railing for spectators to set their drinks and a lot of picnic tables to eat, drink, and socialize.  The participants were great and the announcer and line judges were amusing for sure.  Everyone was having a blast and we met some great people.

Great pizza, cold beer and friendly staff and patrons. We stumbled on this place while out walking our dog. We were staying down the street at the campground. It's perfect walking distance for a fun evening of food and drink.

They have belt sander races AND pirate pub crawls. We wish we were staying in town longer to partake in the festivities.

And this was the first bar our dog was ever allowed IN to.... Not just on the porch. And of course he immediately fell in love with the bartender when she came over and gave him a handful of pepperoni.

Great local bar with an awesome pirate theme. Very low key. Come as you are straight from the beach. Picnic tables in the backyard. Apparently they also have belt sander races which looked like it would be a fun time! I have to say the pizza was AWESOME!!! Great crispy crust and real cheese melted all over the top! Oh, you can also bring your dog! Definately recommend checking this place out!

Great local hangout- friendly group of regulars and live music make for a colorful experience. Pizza is fine- nothing special.  Terrific, low-key place to enjoy a beer.

When venturing to Port Aransas add this bar to your itinerary. If you're a lover of all things Pirate and nautical themed - even better! You can't help but feel like you've entered a world out of a Jerry Bruckheimer movie when you step foot in this place.

The first thing you notice is how friendly everyone is here. Whether it's the owner who decides to sit down and watch the Yankee game at the bar or the locals who frequent this place everyone will strike up a conversation with you. The service was great and waitstaff very attentive. You'll also notice guests are allowed to bring their dogs in the bar as long as they're well behaved and on a leash.  I met a gorgeous brindle boxer that evening.

If you're looking for liquor head elsewhere - but they have a nice assortment of beer and wine which they serve up in glass mugs. My other suggestion is try the homemade pizzas. They smelled delicious and folks often drop in just to grab one to go.

This is one place I can't wait to visit the next time I'm on the island. Take a few minutes to explore the bar and don't forget they have a huge outdoor section as well.

The Gaff is a required stop every time I'm visiting the island. When I get on the ferry, I'm already thinking about the heavenly combo that is a Gaffer pizza and a cold beer. Love the pirate theme, the writing on the ceiling (Pop A Top was here!), the cool breeze blowing through the bar. The pizzas are made to order and they are worth the wait. Dogs are welcome! Also... Belt Sander Races!?! Awesome.

    Thursday night at
11pm uh nobody was in this place. Except a really extremely drunk local couple stumbling in from another bar. The place looks like it could have potential but I guess not on a Thursday. Maybe Saturdays are better.

So we've visted this dive bar several time, everyone of which was an awesome experience. It even helped smooth over the fact that the Port A Brewery had such terrible service and overpriced beer.

Not at The Gaff! Here, you're treated like a mirror. You put off a shitty attitude, expect one back, be cool with the bartenders and the locals, and blend in like it was a group of friends.

Did I mention the prices?? $3 draft beers (good shit too! Kona Lager, Alamo draft, Killian's and others). They've also got pizzas and Subs available for a decent price. Defenitly worth a checking out.

Near Horace Caldwell Pier, can be tricky to locate after a long day of drinking, but once found, is a true gem to behold on this island!

    Good shit and AAARRRGGGG!!!!!

This is a nautical themed pub with friendly staff and great atmosphere. It is true, beer from a glass jar is prevalent. And lovely. Mostly a local joint, but conveniently located next to the Islands best mechanic shop Lug Nutz.

Pizza is a great treat and better than any on the island. We ordered the jalapeño and sausage - it was awesome. No surprises.

There is a great variety of activities at The Gaff - belt sander racing, pirate pub crawls, chicken shit bingo and great sunny outdoor seating. We never miss an afternoon at the Gaff after a long motorcycle ride.

Although we won't be around to see their extensive remodel this year, next year hopefully we can see the wonderful changes and upgrades. The Gaff only gets better and better!
