Wicked townie place, which is not a criticism at all. Nice that they exist. Why are good breakfast places so rare? This place is noisy -- one loud person or kid and now we're all talking loudly to be heard. But that's fine too. Coffee is the good diner variety. Avoided the home fries, as advised and got hash brows, but they were kinda like my hash browns, with the slightly undercooked bit. Benedict was awesome, without the impenetrable crust of muffin that you have to fight with. Good muffins make good eggs benedict. Service was almost un-New England-y friendly, but I can adjust. Decor reminds me of an Elks lodge, but who cares?
Review Source:Though I had to park down the street, it is usually a good sign that it's busy! Â I wonder the issues on a weekend though, because this was a Friday?
Coffee was promptly served. Â Decor (or lack of) was expected. Â Food came out fast and hot.
My omelet was great and hash browns good. Â Side of raisin bread was correct. Â Portions were good but not surprising.
I like the place and would go back again. Â Prices were reasonable too. Â Good casual breakfast place tucked away so mostly locals would find it (and you).
Cannot go wrong here at all! Yummy food every time I have gone for breakfast!
I mostly go here on weekends and I highly suggest getting there early or going on their off time [after 9 or 10 am] because it is always so busy here! The food is hot and fresh. I highly recommend the omlette that has salsa, steak, and cheese in it. I think it may be called the western omlette but I am not sure.
Very family friendly and family oriented  but also good for couples too!
Sometimes all I want is a good hearty breakfast, hot coffee, and a friendly waitress. Â Galante's is all that. Â So, why not five stars? Â To make it there, the restaurant needs real maple syrup for the pancakes and the home fries need to be turned up a notch. (add paprika and onion, just a suggestion).
Review Source:I visited this place with my daughter. It is a standard diner with ok breakfast food. I am yet to find a place which understands what "over easy" means, because my eggs were slightly over cooked.. The home fries were tasteless, and the bacon tasted like it had been sitting around. The crowd there made for interesting people watching, and were all very friendly; however, it was probably because of my cute daughter not my captivating good looks.
Review Source:Good breakfast, very fair price, good specials, fast service, open "townie" atmosphere, all these things get the first four stars. They get 5 because of the waitress. She was so nice and happy to see us, she was very excited about the specials, and was just nice and cheerful the whole time. Being waited on by someone who is obviously having a good time and is happy to be there serving you makes all the difference in the world.
Review Source:Good place for breakfast! Service was good, the food came out very fast as well! I ordered the 2 eggs&2 pancakes breakfast and the food was great. Eggs were poached to perfection and the batter they use in the chocolate chip pancakes was awesome. Good job guys, will definitely be back!
Review Source:I enjoyed my experience at Galante's because it was a little bit of a step up from the usual diner breakfast. Â I really liked the fact that they were a small town, homey type establishment but had several healthy (well, healthier I should say) options on the menu. I have been to several of the same type of restaurants that had only the usual greasy, high fat or high sugar selections. Â Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. Â The coffee was decent enough and we received a refill when our cups were empty. Â I ordered the egg beater omelet that came with home fries, and choice of toast. Â I also ordered a side of turkey sausage because I prefer a little meat with my breakfast when I'm out. Â So it was still not the healthiest breakfast but it was better than the usual. Â The food was good, if not great. I would say that it seems to be one of the better choices for a diner style breakfast in the area.
Review Source:Been here a couple of times at this point.
Not sure why it has so many 5 star ratings. Â This isn't to say it is bad; it isn't! Â But it's nothing special. Â It's a relatively typical breakfast place with relatively typical food, and pretty good service.
My meal has never been perfect, though for the asking price there were never reasons to complain. Â The biggest dissapointment was probably the spanish omelette; it had too much salsa (from a jar) and the beef in it was poor at best.
But everything else I've ordered has ranged from OK to good, they keep your coffee cup full, and if you find something you don't like, they're sure to have something else you will enjoy instead.
Found this place on Yelp in hopes of finding a new hidden breakfast gem in our otherwise egg-less suburb was not found. It was good but not fantastic. The prices were fine, the service was great! They don't serve lunch on Sunday...at all. My daughter who doesn't like breakfast didn't eat (it was noon). My better half had the eggs benny, it was standard hollandaise out of a can, nicely poached eggs on an english muffin with sliced ham. I had the banana pancakes and bacon, both very good. Pancakes were not fluffy, but permissible. Our son had the chocolate chip pancakes...his were more fluffy than mine!? The coffee was hot (albeit a bit week) and they kept coming around, which makes this coffee fan very happy. The check came and we paid by credit card. When I signed, there was not area to add a tip?! I asked the waitress and she said the owner "doesn't have it set up that way." I felt bad for her, why would the owner take cards and not cash out tips? Oh well. This was a B-for me. My breakfast journey continues...
Review Source:Very disappointed with the breakfast. Â Staff was attentive and courteous but the scrambled eggs were cold, the bacon was cold and fatty and the toast and potatoes were blaah. Corned beef hash was out of the can. Â Nothing special about this place. Head east to Framingham and do yourself a favor.
Review Source:After reading the superlative reviews I had to see for myself and taste for myself. Â Oh, my. We got there just before the Sunday breakfast rush, around 9ish, and didnt have to wait. Â I got an Italian omlette with onions, mushrooms, peppers. Â I even got to taste the legendary bacon from someone else at the table. Â Soooo good and soooo crisp. Â Service was superior. Â Your coffee cup is never empty. Â It seems as tho someone is always refilling it. Â I dont know about their lunches but I'll be heading back again for breakfast.
Review Source:Fast, efficient, and friendly service. Â Food was average but the portions were just right. Â The atmosphere was upbeat. Â The decor was basic.
I ordered "Wendy's Omelet" with hash browns and a grilled English muffin and a side of corned-beef hash. Â The omelet looked and tasted fine. Â My only complaint was the mushrooms that were too large and not cooked quite enough. Â The hash browns and English muffins were perfect. Â The corned-beef hash wasn't as greasy as you'll find in other establishments - and it's strong, salty flavor was appreciated.
My wife ordered the chocolate chip pancakes with a side of turkey sausage. Â The pancakes were perfectly average - although helped by the chocolate. Â The turkey sausage came in patty form and was disappointingly dry.
The kids ordered waffles and pancakes with a side of sausage. Â The waffles were large and cooked perfectly. Â The pancakes were fine. Â The sausage was of the brown-and-serve variety and by all accounts tasted great. Â The only real complaint from the kids had to do with the Smucker's syrup that came in pre-packaged cups. Â Apparently, they've been spoiled by the "good stuff" we serve at home. Â :-)
All in all, we found our trip to Galante Restaurant to be pleasant and satisfying. Â It will become part of our regular breakfast place rotation.
Came to Galante's late one Sunday morning after reading the great reviews here on Yelp, and I'm so glad I did! Â The food was just wonderful, our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and the whole atmosphere of the place was just pleasant and great.
There was a wait, yes, as with any great breakfast spot, but the wait was so worth it. I had a mushroom egg white omelet with hashbrowns and wheat toast, and even something as simple as the toast was delicious! Â The veggies in my omelet were pre-cooked so they weren't raw inside the egg (you'd be surprised how many times that happens!), the cheese was flavorful, and everything was seasoned just right. Â Even for a "greasy spoon", I didn't feel bloated or gross when I left, which is always a plus. Â Really good, honest food all around.
I will definitely be back, and I can't wait!
As a note, as another reviewer said, they do take credit and debit cards, but for the price of the bill only, not tip. Â Make sure you bring cash to tip the friendly waitresses!
This little breakfast spot...ah, no, dont do it...no, the um huge stack of blueberry pancakes, mmmm, well, no, not good, not good at all, mmm...and the um crispy bacon besides...mmm.. horrible, reallly, mmm...horrible...and the um, hot chocolate with whipped cream to wash it all down, slurp slurp, mmmm...no, dreadful, terrible, really. keep driving. mmmm ;)
Review Source:My boyfriend and I just moved to Millis and to our delight, we found this place just down the street. It's an easy choice for breakfast (haven't tried lunch). We've even opted to be late for work to get breakfast at Galante's first. Leave your PJs on.
Bacon is always super-crispy (YUM). I usually go with salty breakfast food. Boyfriend goes with sweet items. Both excellent. Wish they had local maple syrup instead of Smuckers packets, though.
Staff is wicked nice. So nice one time my boyfriend turned to me and asked if our waitress was being sarcastic. No, she was just being REALLY nice.
Cheap food. They take cards, but you can't put the tip on the card. Gotta leave cash for tip.
Parking is ok. Small lot on the side and free street parking on Village.
Haven't been to Galante's since moving to Boston a hundred years ago, but now I'm back, and it's like time has stood still... in a good way. Typical greasy spoon kinda joint, always packed on weekends, speedy service. TO DIE FOR banana pancakes... I get 'em with a side of turkey sausage to trick myself into thinking I'm making a somewhat healthy choice... whatevs!
