Garlic City Billiards is really great. Â The owner/managers are friendly and keep the place clean and under control. Â I hadn't played pool in years when I first came in to see what they were about. Â Now I've recovered my previous ability and advanced my skill level by a lot. Â I'm preparing to participate in one of their weekly tournaments and looking forward to it.

There's gotta be a reason.
Lots of tables, a bar with beer, sandwiches etc.
I can't afford pool so I've not been in when it's hoppin', but if it's hoppin' it's the only thing in Gilroy that hops at all and I suggest you get on over there.
I have gone to this place a few times to play pool. Â The owner knows the game of pool and has had a few greats come through the place (you can see their autographs on the walls). It is a SUPER clean place and now has weekly tournaments for novice players. Â The owner is always showing folks how to improve their game. Â They have arcade games that are clean and working all the way as well - they haven't had a Cruising USA in over 10 years.... Â Great place to stop in, play some billiards, and have a few beers. Â Many TVs in the place and a nice jukebox as well. They recently added a couple coin op tables too. Rock on Garlic City!
Review Source:If you are a pool player this is a great place to come.
The tables are all Gold Crowns, top of the line, Â high end felt and well maintained. Â These tables are better than most of the other places you can go to.
The owner, Bob, has been around the game longer than most of his customer have been alive and has some really great stories to tell about the Glory Days Of Pool.  Ask him about Al The Plumper, Philippino Gene, Tony  Anagoni and Eddie Felson (yes, he was real - Color of Money movie)
I wanted to give my old pool que  to my son.  Both my son and I went down and Bob did a great job of lightly sanding down the shafts (he sanded down a lot of history).  He even spent about a half hour giving my son a few basic lessons.
It may not be a fancy place that serves Perrier Water  but it is a rock solid place to shoot a few racks on some great tables.  And if you really want a game there are a few people who come in once in awhile that will leave you sitting, watching them run the table, and then racking for them.
Played here once back in high school. Â It's pretty ghetto. Â They charge by the hour and sometimes you have to wait for people on the surrounding tables to take their shot before you can take yours. Â I think there was something around 15 pool tables over here. Â They also have some lady walking around if you want to order drinks. Â They have some ghetto arcade games like Cruising USA that I remember had a jacked up clutch and tranny that didn't work right when you'd shift gears.
Most people over here are Mexican too.
I think I'd rather shoot pool at the Claddagh Irish Restaurant and Pub on 1st Street if in Gilroy.
