Delicious bar food, friendly staff, and a nice little place. Â If you sit at the bar, you can have a burger, wings, or a pizza, with a beer for $5. Â The only weird thing is their tap beer selection of Coors Light and Palm...two extremes if you ask me, but the Palm is always quite tasty. Â The stuffed grilled cheese is my personal favorite and the wings are also great. Â Sandwiches come with curly fries...score! Â Definitely stop by Gators for some good food and company.
Review Source:In the last 3 years the place has basically turned into a glorified diner experience. The last 4 meals were very very very disappointing. Broccoli stalks in a pasta plate. Vegetable pasta doused with about 200 mushrooms it's hard to taste anything else. Chicken marsala special had so many mushrooms almost like they don't care about quality, we felt as if we ordered it from a Greek diner. Lite sauce entrees for our children come swimming in a pool of sauce. They can no longer cook a burger to your liking as my husbands went back twice. We are officially done and others we go out with are as well. Time to care again Rich.
Review Source:Place could feel cleaner. Music was horrible. Â Waitress was nice and pointed out that we left a tip and it was already included (we left the addt'l tip on). Â Food took awile to be delivered. Â With that said, the fresh seafood dishes were great. Â Perhaps we'll call in our order nest time and take-out?!
Review Source:Stopped in gators sat night haven't been there in years used to love their burgers WOW can't believe how bad it was. I work in Southampton and live in wading river so I see alot of restaurants and I eat out way to much. We had a pitcher of sangria which had no fruit in it only cocktail cherries nasty, a burger with the bun so dry it crumbled burger was tasteless and dry ,nachos were just so so .This is my first post I am getting tired of owners not aware of what is being served in their restaurants or just don't care.
Review Source:So, we ordered take out here last night and were very disappointing.
Our order: Nachos (sin olives), 10 Wings (medium), Cheeseburger, and French Dip. Ordering over the phone was relatively easy.
Picking up the order was a nightmare. The waiting area (small hallway) was packed full of people waiting for a table, which we thought was a good sign. When we made our way to the hostess, I had to repeat my name not one, not two, not three, but FOUR times until she heard me. And for those who know me ~ I am not soft spoken. ;) Even though we called the order in 30 minutes prior, we still had to wait a good 15-20 minutes for our take out order.
When we got to the car, we immediately checked the order to make sure it was right. The only thing we couldn't check was the nachos because they were sealed pretty tight and we didn't want them to spill in the car.
When we got home and opened up everything - things looked okay. The packaging for the wings was pretty cheap and the sauce spilled out quite a bit, but it was okay.
The nachos didn't have cheese on them .... who makes nachos without cheese? It looked more like a taco salad without cheese. The ingredients were very soggy and the tortilla chips were tasteless. The wings were okay. I've had much better and don't think that they should advertise their wings as "world famous".
Our sandwiches were disgusting!! The cheeseburger was too well done and was dry as sandpaper. The French Dip was rubbery and dry as well. We ate what we could and gave the rest to the dog. (She did eat it - but then again she eats everything!).
About an hour after eating we got SEVERE stomach cramps and "bad things" happened to us ... you can use your imagination here. Needless to say, we will not be returning here. We were surprised to see how busy they were.
Please ... we need a new pub / sports bar in the area!!! Any ideas???
Another HB tradition, the "soon to be relatively famous" Gators is a staple, smack dab in the middle of downtown. Several of my friends used to work here, so I've been returning for over a decade.
Gators is a sports bar-esque establishment, with an extensive menu consisting of salads, soups, sandwiches and lots more. They're known for their burgers - though I can't speak to that aspect. My favorite items on the menu are the french onion soup - cheesy and delicious; and the corn fritters, a fabulously sweet appetizer with horseradish sauce. SO good.
The last time we stopped in for lunch, our server was seriously lacking in a sense of humor, but she took care of us. The food was tasty, and we sat in a booth in the back. The interior of this place is notoriously dark, but I've always liked the window table the best - where you can sit and watch downtown HB pass by (such as it is).
This is a reliable and relatively inexpensive lunch option in HB - always a solid choice.
"Burger and beer for $5, any time of day? Come on, that's incredible! "
feces eaten off of the sidewalk is free...doesnt mean it would taste good and it definitely wouldnt be a good deal. the said burger tastes more like a dry old meatball fished out of a tupperware found somewhere in the back of a refrigerator. if i had to guess the meatball flavor occurs because the cook pads the meat to stretch a few dimes and the the dry taste is the result of a talentless or un-enthused cook. the beer comes in a 5oz glass that i find slightly insulting.
other dishes here are greasy and for the most part inedible. i would steer clear of any fish on the menu and i think a few doctors would probably agree with me.
best,
maxta p
Gators chef is really doing a great job at seafood and steaks. Gators has stepped up it's dining experience with Chef Earnie.. who can really cook fish and other entree's with the best restaurants yet... here you are in a small bar/ grill /restaurant and surprised at the great food for such a casual late night place. We were able to order up to 11:00 pm ... that is so cool... Â because that's when you get there sometimes!
They are open later than everyone else for dinner.... Earnie is cute and will come out and say "Hi" if you compliment the chef enough to the waitress... in fact he made us a surprise off menu crepe dessert after receiving our compliments.... The waitress is sweet also... I love this small town and the people are just great...
Get a seafood entre and do not fear the seafood stuffing - here they make it really well and... it's delicious.
I am pretty sure this place has been here forever but I was only recently introduced to it.  I went for lunch they have some delicious appetizers and every portion is huge for both the apps and entrées.  The food is good they have that down since they have been around for so many years.
