Gatsbys II Bar & Billiards

Where is everybody?  When I was a student at SIU more than 20 years ago, Gatsby's was PACKED.  You had to put your name on a waiting list for a pool table.  You were lucky to get a table, or a bar stool when a live band was playing.

I stopped in to reminisce, and have a beer, over the recent homecoming weekend, on a Friday night, and there were only five people in the entire bar!  I think staff outnumbered the customers. The place was dark, quiet, boring, and a far cry from the atmosphere I enjoyed when I was a student.

Gatsbys is a cool place to go, only if the dance club part of it is open, which it's only open on the weekends. In the main room, you have a number of pool tables and a small bar, which can be a chore to get a drink from if it's packed. The dance club room is a good time if you're tanked. It's really small, really packed, and the floor is always wet. There aren't too many fights here as it's known more to be a frat/sorority place. I always enjoyed myself there, but it's small and will fill up.
