I was surprised by Genu-Wine.  Our good friends gave us a gift card, so we went to try it out.  Nice wine selection and knowledgeable staff.  We all had expectations that the food would be fair, it was actually good.  I had a small pizza that was good and tasty.  Do not think you are going there for a full meal, because they serve very small portions.  There was live music and he was really good.  Nice place and great atmosphere.

The food and the wine were both wonderful, and reasonably priced. The bruschetta may be the best I've ever had. All of the cheeses on the cheese plate were excellent, and the cheese plate itself was very well put together. It came with honey and nuts (a little heavy on the almonds for me, but I know that's a personal preference).

They had a band the night we were there, well a couple of guys anyway, playing classic rock cover songs, and they were pretty good. I wasn't expecting music at all, so they were a nice surprise. A little heavy on The Eagles for my taste, but that's my taste. I hate The Eagles. Hate 'em. Always have. Except Hotel California, which they didn't play. They did cover Marshall Tucker and a couple John Fogerty tunes, all good. Didn't care for the Springsteen. Lose the I'm on Fire cover, that's my advice. Doesn't work for you. You want slow depressing Springsteen? Try Nebraska. No one's ever expecting Nebraska.

    Here's where Genuwine lost me:
    1. Lighting
I like my wine bars a little on the dark side, and the light over our table was blinding. Blinding. We actually slid our table about two feet over into a corner, where it was still pretty bright.
    Recommendation: Try some dimmer bulbs.

    2. Greeting
We were not greeted when we arrived, and there was no sign saying seat yourself, or if there was, we didn't see it (and we looked), so we wandered through the restaurant and over to the bar, where we stood for several minutes until I was able to get the bartender's attention. He said, "Sit anywhere," which we certainly would have done if we'd known we were supposed to. Fine, whatever. But then another party arrived, stood around at the entrance for a moment, wondering what to do before just going ahead and seating themselves - and that bartender, that same bartender - goes over and greets them. WTF?
Recommendation: Greet your customers, and greet them in the order they arrive.

    3. Menu
The menu's got the wines they sell by the glass, but if you want a bottle, you've got to walk around the restaurant and fine one. Now, I'm not a wine bar aficionado or anything, but I've been to several over the years, and this concept is new to me. Sure, it's nice to have the option of seeing the actual bottle, but what if I don't want to get up and walk around? What if I don't want to squeeze between other guest's tables, apologizing for being so close and overhearing their conversation?
Recommendation: Put the bottles on the menu. I don't care if your stock changes frequently, seriously how much time does it take to print out a list of what's on your walls? Or if that's too much work for you, at the very least move the tables a little further away from the walls so customers can walk by without apologizing to your other guests.

    4. Customer Service
The staff was not very friendly (any of them, from that bartender to the women I overheard another table refer to as the owner when I was squeezing by them to find a bottle of wine). They weren't unfriendly, they just seemed indifferent. And we kept having to ask for stuff. And the appetizer took forever. And it was the wrong one. The right one was awesome, we just had to wait for it.
Recommendation: Don't make me ask for water refills, or napkins, or silverware. Try to
anticipate your customer's needs. Also, when you bring out a cheese tray, take a moment to review what's there. Yes, I know we ordered it, but A. that was twenty minutes ago, and B. I may not have had these particular cheeses before. I want to know when I'm eating what. I think this is the first wine bar I've ever been to that hasn't done that.

Looking back, this review seems a little negative. And there are certainly several items that will probably keep me from coming back, especially considering I don't live nearby, so it would take some effort. But they've got their core products down - like I said, the food and wine were top notch. Top notch. Damn, that bruschetta was good.

Love it! I come here often, even though I live 45 minutes away. The staff is always super friendly and the food is delicious. Plus, the live artists are always FABULOUS.

With the easier access to Genu Wine since new roads have opened and expanded, we have really come to enjoy our more frequent visits.  The staff does a great job of helping and makes you feel welcome.  We have enjoyed visiting with the staff as well as Rhonda, the owner.  Their wine club is reasonable and the offer 3 dollar tastings when you are a member.  The wine tasting rotates each week.  There are also some food offerings.
They carry a nice variety of wines, some you will not see any where else in the area.  Love to drop in and just relax.

I discovered Genuwine on <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a>. Was planning a golf trip to the area and searched for some restaurants in the same town.  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FRestaurant.com&s=0aab4cbd731f3d3b0d1453050d3abc56a8c80bd214e25469c7555b750dca8a51" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Restaurant.com</a> has been great for me that way. I've discovered countless dining options that I would have never stumbled onto otherwise.

This little suburban wine bar features quite a nice selection of boutique, small batch wines. Bottles you definitely won't find at your local Kroger. There is no wine list per se, the offerings are ever-changing, you simply peruse the bottles displayed on the walls and pick yourself one. I didn't price every single bottle but they seem to run from the mid 20's on up to $50 +

Brad, the newly minted sommelier, is barely old enough to drink himself.  But his acquired knowledge of and passion for wine make up for his young years.  All the tables seem to hang on his every word and he certainly gave us a good steer towards a very nice Scott Harvey Zinfandel.

While by no means extensive, the menu here is more than adequate and growing all the time. They need to update their website because they currently offer many more dishes than are depicted.  The food is very tasty. We had an app, a salad and a pizza and each was delicious.

Plenty of friendly, helpful staffers. They have a nice selection of wine accessories, a few specialty beers, they even offer a some premium cigars although you have to smoke them outside.

Other reviewers raved about the music; we were less than impressed. The musician was an hour and a half late arriving and was just okay.

In the end, however, Genuwine is all about the wine and as such...it delivers!

Really- I'd probably give this place about 2 1/2 stars if that were an option... it was okay.  My boyfriend and I went there about 9 pm on a Friday night and felt like we were at ladies night in suburbia. I mean, this place IS in Magnolia/the back of The Woodlands, so I guess that should be pretty on par & expected. We both love wine & love wine bars, but were a little underwhelmed at this place... we both ordered a pizza, which was decent- I love anything with truffle oil on it though, so that scored some extra points for me.  I will say that it was kinda neat how you can look at all the wine and see the prices right on the wall & the guy performing the music was alright.  It's not that it's bad- it's just not great.  Overall we decided we won't be going back.

I usually don't feel this way, but GREAT live music. Comfortable and friendly atmosphere. I love the ambiance and rotating wine tasting options. Our server was great and the experience proved to be one that needs to be repeated very soon.

Great music, the best employees, but even better wine!!!  It's the kind of place you look forward to going to, for lunch, after work, or for date night...and the food is good too!!!  If you haven't come by, you should!!!

I've been coming to Genuwine since it's grand opening a year ago.
Lots of fun events between the daily wine tastings, wine lessons for us "less experienced wino's", great tunes and " bubbles & botox" parties.
Just what we needed - something that isn't another sports bar - finally!

I visited Genuwine for a wedding reception. My first impressions were the excellent atmosphere and the good location. They catered the food and it all worked out very well. The staff is the best, very nice and attentive, and they have an excellent selection of beverages!

Good atmosphere and a good selection... My wife and I swung by with a couple friends on a friday night and we left happy.  The had a live band up front who sang pretty well and kept everyone chatting while we were there.

The service was friendly and got us taken care of in a timely manner, while leaving us be to chat as needed.  They had a pretty good wine list and some beer selections. I stuck to beer, as it had been that kind of week.  My wife had a glass of wine, which she enjoyed.. The other couple we were with had a bottle of wine, all of which seemed decently priced on the menu.

We thought of doing the wine flight, but it didn't have much that sparked our interested as we primarily enjoy sweet wines and more on the dry side.  The interior is a bit small, but they have outdoor seating if needed.

Good place overall, I'm sure we will be back to try some wine and enjoy the atmosphere.

My wife and I dropped on to see my ol' friend Rhonda (owner of GenuWine) and we had some wine and cheese, and it was all just wonderful. The wine and cheese was great!  The atmosphere was really nice and classy (yet comfortable), and the live music was awesome!  Rhonda is a great host (and you're sure to have a laugh when she stops at your table).

It was Friday and date night at my house. I can't tell you how long I have been wanting to try this place out. I told my hubby that we were going on an adventure. I say this because getting there from the Northeast side of Lake Conroe is quite the trek.

We took the new Fish Creek thoroughfare and discovered a whole new upcoming area.  Navigation got us a little lost, as I didn't realize it was right next door to the Gold's gym in Magnolia. Just take 1488 from I-45 until you get to the shopping plaza with Gold's.

When we finally arrived in the parking lot,  bright lights from a welcoming sign ushered us into a warm and friendly establishment. We immediately noticed the great tunes coming from Mike Allen strumming on his guitar as we walked through the door.

If you haven't had the privilege of enjoying one of his performances, then I highly suggest you check him out either at GTR or Corner Pub in Conroe. He was outstanding and set the tone for a super fun evening!!!

We walked in and perused the wine selection before settling down at one of the high tables at the back of the room. There are wines of every kind lining both walls.  A great little bar is situated in rear corner followed by a private room near the back.

Once seated we were greeted and offered a wide array of options.
My husband and I are red wine lovers, so we selected a tasty Pino Noir followed by a delish Cab. We paired this with their amazing Drunken Goat cheese spinach salad topped with some grilled chicken. Oh My heaven it is divine!!

I am not sure what I enjoyed more listening to the great cover tunes that each member of the audience selected, the fab wine, yummy food, or the fun atmosphere.

The perfect place to start date night or meet up with friends after work.

The staff is super friendly and gave us the scoop on their amazing wine club. If you are curious about tasting wine that you can't find at any local store than be sure to investigate GTR's wine club.  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmygenuwine.com%2Fwine-club.html&s=5fe4708aa31bfbd16b2c53f2191f3b6c9d85e92eccd07299b5e3217087c8e623" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://mygenuwine.com/wi…</a>

They have terrific events weekly and throughout the month, so be sure to check out their FB page.

I am so glad they are here and definitely one of my 365 things to do in Montgomery County Texas.

Good times - Great Wine -  We will be back!!
