We were a little unsure what to expect because we were told "whatever you do, don't ask for ketchup on your burger"! But actually we were treated very well. Meat on burger was great! I was a little disappointed in the bun. Just a cheap bun. But overall a great small place, good food, service, and will go back! Tammi S.

I was taken here by some friends who found it while we were in the area for Coachella. It was a little bit of a wait after our order, but it was worth it. This place is fairly small, with great signs all over it about being rude to customers (sometimes it's needed), with a sign saying world famous. I'm here to help spread that!

The burger was hot and fresh and full of flavour. The beer was good and cheap too. If I lived nearby, I can see this being a regular hang out for my friends and I. Definitely worth a look into.

Very good burger. One of the best I have had in the valley. It is a great little hole in the wall type of place. Just make sure you eat your burger with out ketchup ha ha

This Place Came Highly Recommended However, Certain Recommendations Are Subjective And Should Probably Be Better Left In The Cellar Of Your Mind!

The Service Was Accommodating But The Food Was Quite Marginal.

People Seem To Love The Owner And He Seems To Be A Real Nice Guy But, As Far As The Food...It Left Me Flat...Sorry Guys!

Arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 2pm, sat down, ordered two burgers and fries within 5 minutes.  Had 3 rounds of beers and still no food!  At approximately 3:30pm the food arrives!  The burgers were good, but not great by any means, and surely not worth a 1.5 hour wait!

It appears Ed, the owner I assume, cooks one order at time before starting another tables ticket.  Even an inexperienced fry cook could have turned the tables in this small dive bar 2 or 3 times in 1.5 hours.  There are only a few items on the menu.

I must complement the waitress who did offer appologies for the long wait and bought us the 3rd round of beers, but someone needs to tell Mr. Ed he needs to hire a competent fry cook and he can visit and insult customers, as I guess is their custom.

Small hole-in-the-wall type of spot with a very old fashioned non-corporate atmosphere inside. The owner himself does the grilling and occasionally belts out a few insults, but by the end of the experience will send you off with warm greetings.

The burgers are fresh and not frozen and are cooked in an interesting house seasoning/rub. The double cheeseburger I had was very tasty. The fries were also nice and browned to a slight crisp.

The wait can be a bit long sometimes, but it's worth every minute.

The only suggestion I have is to never ask for ketchup on your burger!

Absolutely the BEST Burger ever!  I don't eat burgers very often, but when I do, this is the only place!

It's a dive!! If you have a lot of time for lunch I don't think you'll be disappointed with the burgers here, but if you like ketchup on your burger you'd better get it to go. Ed will ridicule you if you ask for ketchup, kind of strange in my book. The old saying the customer is always right, does not apply at this establishment. A better place for the guys to have a burger and beers in my opinion. It sort of reminds me of a Moose lodge or an Elks club.

Great hometown feel. A place where the bartender knows everyone's name.

The best burger I have ever had.  Even better than In N Out. U have to get the double. Even if u can't finish it. It is far better than the single. The owner Ed is a great guy. Just don't put Ketchup on the burger. He has been doing this for 40 years and knows how to make a burger. The meat is seasoned perfectly. It just don't get better than this. Get there at 11 when it opens or after 2 if u want a seat. It is crowded but worth it. Service is great. But nothing else matters once u taste the burger. Ed is an artist.

Yum Great food and always a hoot!
Theres just two rules to follow

!.  DO NOT use Ketchup on your burger
    2. Do not move seats once you have sat down.

If you can follow these very simple rules you can have the best burger C.C.

A bunch of 5 stars? Really? It's a no frills burger. It is a cute local joint and Ed is a colorful enough guy. Nothing special. Once was enough and I am glad to have stopped by.

Cheap food that tastes good. But don't even think about putting ketchup on your burger.

Who ARE these people who rag on George's? Ya know what, good enough.  If it keeps the touristas out, I'm thrilled. I remember when George the dad, ran the joint. You could have a hamburger, a cheese burger or a grilled cheese. I used to love the glory of his look in the white shirt, paper hat and apron. And you dared not ask too many stupid questions. So for those of you who think there is 'tude now....Mickey D's is just down the street. Good luck with that.

I love George's.  It is an old school burger joint, second to none! Folks, your witnessing history. The food is fabulous.  It's dark and small and completely a locals sorta place. If you want the sort of burger they used to make before we knew our triglyceride number better than our phone number...this is the place. If you want a beautiful view, white napkins, a blues band- well there are plenty of places in the desert you can go for that. But only George's has the best damned burgers. And the rest of you can get your candy asses on down the road.

Had lunch there today. The owner spends more time bragging about his food than he does watching the grill so the fries were overdone and there was not any potato taste to them. The burger was not juicy. This is a tired venue that needs to catch up or leave town. I ordered an iced tea. I got gun tea. I rejected it and asked for water. I was charged for the tea under the " if we pour it, you pay for it" policy. Never again.

Ok this is a tough review for me because I have been eating at George's for more than 15 years. We even have a family tradition of eating at George's the day after Thanksgiving.

With that said, I think George's is one of those places that if you have been going to it since you could start walking, then this is the best place ever. You don't mind the smokey greasy air, or that everything feels like it has been wiped down with the same rag for 20 years.

But the fact is that the burgers are good. Not great, not one-of-a-kind, but good. The beef patties are seasoned nicely and the fresh ingredients make the burger whole. Don't go messing with how Ed makes his burger. Just sit down and order it the way he makes it. It is a George's burger.

But that it is. Nothing more can be said about the food. When you are going to George's, you are going for the whole experience, not just the burger. It's sitting at the bar and ordering a simple and good burger. It's being served by down-to-earth, hard working people, that love what they do. It's sitting in a place that feels a little bit like the backbone of America.

So yes, I like George's and you may too. And to anyone that compares it to a soulless fast food restaurant shame on them. When it comes to places like this, you should use all your senses, including common.

    Cheers.

What a fun place with a great staff.  I really liked out waitress, she was so sweet and friendly.  The burgers are really good and their Iced Tea is just as delicious.  We split a burger and fries and probably could have eaten one each!  I think there was a drunk dude in the bar, he was kinda loud, but that's OK!  Parking was easy too.  Give it a try!

After much build-up, I was led here for lunch today after being warned that the food came with an abrasively "charming attitude".  What ever!  Half the staff were out back smoking, so we had to wait a while before the order was taken and even started. When the food came, 2 separate waitresses denied me ketchup, saying to try the seasoning first, or the cook will get mad for putting ketchup on his food.

Ok. My cheeseburger presentation looked exactly like In & Out Burger. When I said this, my boyfriend immediately shushed me, looking at the cook nervously.  The patty was small, smaller than the bun, dry, and no juicy goodness ran out when I took a bite. The chili cheese fries were watery and had no flavor, making the fries a soggy mess with barely any cheese on them, which wasn't even melted.

Finally, one of the waitresses dropped a box on her head, and while all heads were turned, a dash was made for the ketchup bottle sitting on the counter and.... success.  I was able to eat the rest of the burger in happiness.

Verdict: In & Out Burger beats this hands down, eyes closed, arms tied behind the back. Plus! I & O has milkshakes.  We had to walk next door to the Weinerschnitzel to get a chocolate shake afterwards.

The soup Nazi is only funny in a fictional Seinfeld episode, not at some dive burger shop in the ghetto of Cat City.

Amazing burgers and chili. After you understand that the real name of the place is "George's Burgers and Insults", you won't mind the burgers with attitude on the side. I had no idea when I first went in that this was the case, so I was somewhat surprised at the attitude; now I understand it's part of the charm. If you can call it charm. Some days, however, I'm just not in the mood for the attitude.

Call and order ahead to save time!

Outstanding burger, chili, and fries with the sauciest banter you can imagine. All this for a steal. Wish we lived closer!

Awesome cheeseburger with some kind of secret seasoning that makes you want to order a second one as soon as you take the first bite.  Get it with everything on it and do not skip out on the fresh onions.  It makes the burger!

Make sure you don't ruin the burger with ketchup or you'll get kicked out!

P.S.  It's now been three days since I had this burger and I'm still thinking about it. Drool.

Whenever we visit our friends in CC, George's is a MUST STOP, as we did this last Saturday.

We arrived promptly when they opened at 11.  With this place you need to arrive early, or you'll be waiting...

Owner/Chef Ed (George's son) never disappoints... first, a few obligatory insults, then it's time for the BEST burger ever: flavorful and juicy, with all the fixins (and cheese too!), the burger is hard to put down!  Just the way a burger should be.  With a side of fries, and a bowl of pickles and peppers, the meal will make your day!.  Add a pitcher (or two) of Amberbock, and this is a meal you will thoroughly enjoy!

Fantastic burger. Do not put ketchup on it, you will be kicked out! In this way it reminds me of Father's Office in LA. That said, the burger is amazing and for only $4.50 is a steal compared to fancy burger joints.

The owner is a bear of a guy who likes to mess with the customers. It's all in good fun as long as you keep your ketchup off the burger. This burger was so good that I'm thinking of going back there again today.

Also, don't miss the chili cheese fries. He makes the chili himself. Yum!

If you re looking for a fancy place to go to and you don't have a thick skin don't go here.

However, if you want a FANTASTIC burger then this is the place. Don't ask for it your way the chef and owner has been doing it his way and his way only so don't try and change perfection.

I ordered the double cheeseburger with grilled onions and a side of fries.

The burger was cooked to perfection and the meat was great quality, the onions were caramelized also to perfection and just the right amount of cheese. The whole thing was juicy and dripping  not like one of those dried up things from alot of burger joints that suck.

The fries were delicious crisp and golden brown and HOT. If there's anything I hate its cold fries.  It came with a side of pickles and spicy peppers...I found the yum.

When in the desert STFU and get your ass over to Georges for a damn good burger.

They have a great burger. It's where the locals go. The fries are just OK. They only make the burger one way so dont try and order it your way or the cook will yell at you.

Really?! Amazing burger? Amazingly mediocre and average burger ever. If you think this place has the best buger, I feel sorry for you.

Ok, I don't mean to bash on their burger because it wasn't horrible. The burger is heavily seasoned and their fries are extra fried so they have the 'crunch' texture.

I would've given this place three stars if it wasn't for the long wait. My boyfriend and I ordered ONE cheeseburger with fries to share and it seriously took more than 40 minutes. I wouldn't have complained if the food was worth the wait but it was totally a let down.

The last two reviews totally failed :/

We stopped in George's Bar & Grill yesterday for a burger and a beer, and as always the owner, Ed, made us a couple of wicked good burgers.  Just order it with everything, eat it as is, and you will be reminded of the burgers of days gone by when burgers were simple and they tasted really really good.  He makes really good chili well worth trying, and the beer is super cold.  He will most definitely torture you verbally while you are there, but he always sends you off with a warm thank you and wishes for your good safety as you leave.

Good burgers, good fries.  Ed the owner is a funny guy who talks crap to you and gladly shows you the shop's motto: Screw the customer.  It's all in good fun though, don't go here if you're one of those thin-skinned wimps who can't take a joke.

Best Burgers...seriously..not kidding...I've never had amazing burgers anywhere else even in LA...every time i go back to Palm Springs to visit my parents, I make sure I go there...its absolutely delicious...The owner Ed, is a very nice guy, but whatever u do don't put ketchup on your burger. If he sees it, he will tell you to leave. They don't care about customers, coz the people who knows about the place only goes there...
But definitely burger  lovers should love this place....

Best burgers anywhere! This place has been here forever. it has been a construction workers lunch hangout ever since I can remember but lately it has been discovered by the snowbirds. Ed has kept the place exactly the way it was when his dad was still with us. Why mess with perfection? Definite must try if you like burgers and beer.
