I've been to Gilligan's twice now - once for ice cream, and then recently for dinner. Â
This is the perfect place for some comfort food and a nice summer stop for ice cream. Â The menu is fairly standard "fast" food, but the quality is much higher than you will find at your local fast food joint. Â Does that make sense? Â
The highlights here are clearly the burgers, as they feature one each week, as well as dedicating a page in their menu for them. Â If you are a burger and fries aficionado, then you will love this place. Â For onion ring lovers, they are hand breaded and a service size is generous...don't miss these. Â
Prices are reasonable, as expected. Â Dinner for the two of us was around $17-18 with drinks included. Â Once you are done taking down your man sized burger, you will be sorely tempted to top it off with their homemade ice cream. Â And why wouldn't you when they have dozens of unique flavors...some with a local flare (Raider Passion for you Colgaters). Â
I have had both the peanut butter cup and the cookie monster and was very pleased with both. Â
If you are in a hurry, they also have a drive through, which was a nice touch.
So I'm on a diet. I've already lost 15 pounds. But to get there I had to cut out most of the foods I love. All of the foods I love, in fact, because my favorite foods happen to be dangerous to my health. Anyway. I couldn't just not go here anymore - I mean honestly people - this place is open on Sunday. SUNDAY! No where around here is open Sunday unless you want gas. Anyway, we cracked and went here. I vowed to get something good. And I did - a chicken wrap. It was filled with well cooked pieces of chicken and vegetables in a garlic wrap. It was so good I had to write about it.
Review Source:When in the mood for a burger and a shake, the first place I go (when I am in Hamilton, which is half the year) is Gilligan's. (Everyone calls it Gilligan's, not Gilligan's Island) I consider the best burger to be the bourbon bacon cheeseburger or the mozzarella stick burger. Most of the hamburgers don't come with lettuce, tomato and onion, instead they stick with their theme.
The hot food is good, but the real gem here is the ice cream.
The milkshakes are great and can be made from any of their 40-something flavors. They also make sundaes and sell ice cream cakes in the freezer. A favorite of my friends is the "Raider Passion" (For Colgate). It is a blend of red velvet cake and vanilla and some other great things.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.
