As we drove up to Slippery Rock from Pittsburgh to check out the campus/apartments, we decided to stop somewhere for a bite to eat. Â I had a good feeling about this place as we drove by, so we stopped. Â Our waitress Molly was so very friendly and kind, great start! Â So as we looked at the menu, I saw fajitas! Â I absolutely love fajitas! Â So, we both decided to get the "Combo Fajitas". Â We could hear the sizzling coming from just outisde the kitchen doors. Â This place gives you a whopping supply of lettuce, tomatoe and cheddar cheese! Â The grilled chicken and steak were cooked to perfection. Â We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back this Sunday for a replay! Â Thanks Ginger Hill Tavern and Molly for helping us find our SRU restaurant of choice!!!
Review Source:My mother and I stopped by for lunch here after attending an event at the local wildlife rescue center. Not bad! It was empty and quiet, so I'm sure I would never have set foot in here during the evening or on a big game night.
I ordered soup and one of the appetizers - bread with cheese, tomatoes and sauce. It was definitely delicious and hit the spot, but it didn't hit the spot perfectly. I'd been going for something basic and relatively light since most of that day I was in the car and not moving. Alas, like the majority of places in America, the appetizers were far too big; I didn't finish mine. Yes, you can take things home, and I did, but it always bugs me when I have to ask for a box because it inevitably becomes trash after I enjoy my leftovers. I like having reasonable portions that I can finish off in one sitting.
But I suppose this was never an option, especially in college town territory. On a related note, the menu looks like it's full of the right mix of interesting but basic (and large) dishes that'll keep those students happy.
I second comments about the water tasting off; go for a beer or ice tea instead!
On a final note, I'm not a sports person but anyone who is will definitely enjoy themselves; there's plenty of TVs and the atmosphere is very sportsy.
