As we drove up to Slippery Rock from Pittsburgh to check out the campus/apartments, we decided to stop somewhere for a bite to eat. Â I had a good feeling about this place as we drove by, so we stopped. Â Our waitress Molly was so very friendly and kind, great start! Â So as we looked at the menu, I saw fajitas! Â I absolutely love fajitas! Â So, we both decided to get the "Combo Fajitas". Â We could hear the sizzling coming from just outisde the kitchen doors. Â This place gives you a whopping supply of lettuce, tomatoe and cheddar cheese! Â The grilled chicken and steak were cooked to perfection. Â We really enjoyed ourselves and will be back this Sunday for a replay! Â Thanks Ginger Hill Tavern and Molly for helping us find our SRU restaurant of choice!!!
Review Source:My mother and I stopped by for lunch here after attending an event at the local wildlife rescue center. Not bad! It was empty and quiet, so I'm sure I would never have set foot in here during the evening or on a big game night.
I ordered soup and one of the appetizers - bread with cheese, tomatoes and sauce. It was definitely delicious and hit the spot, but it didn't hit the spot perfectly. I'd been going for something basic and relatively light since most of that day I was in the car and not moving. Alas, like the majority of places in America, the appetizers were far too big; I didn't finish mine. Yes, you can take things home, and I did, but it always bugs me when I have to ask for a box because it inevitably becomes trash after I enjoy my leftovers. I like having reasonable portions that I can finish off in one sitting.
But I suppose this was never an option, especially in college town territory. On a related note, the menu looks like it's full of the right mix of interesting but basic (and large) dishes that'll keep those students happy.
I second comments about the water tasting off; go for a beer or ice tea instead!
On a final note, I'm not a sports person but anyone who is will definitely enjoy themselves; there's plenty of TVs and the atmosphere is very sportsy.
There was no wait here so my coworkers and I decided to eat here. The booth we sat at had a wooden bench and the legroom was scarce. I felt it was a little uncomfortable and especially if you were big/tall.
Our waitress was nice and recommended a few things on the menu like the Roast Beef sandwich or the Greek Pizza. It was tempting to order what she recommended but there were so many other choices on the menu.
I decided to get the Cajun Chicken Alfredo($12.99). It came with a salad too. The food took awhile and our waitress forgot about our salad until we asked where it was when our main entrees came.
The salad didn't look special and I ended up giving it to my coworker. The portion for the Cajun Chicken Alfredo was very large. I thought the chicken was tasty but there was a lot of oil at the bottom as I ate more. I was full when I finished it and I was surprised I was able to.
Overall, I thought this place was okay but the booths might make you want to leave.
lackluster food, lackluster service. the day we went for lunch they weren't very busy. our server was distracted and got my order wrong. i ordered a BLT. and got one of their other sandwiches (a turkey club). it was super dry and unappetizing. the wedding soup was okay. the meatballs were good but the chunks of weird over processed chicken were not. my coworker got the zucchini fries. they were decent but the zucchini was unrecognizable in most of them. won't be going back because it's essentially a waste of money. perhaps they are a better bar than restaurant.
Review Source:Among bars I've been to, this is one of my least favorites.
It's a small place as it is, and they try to fit WAY too many kids in there. Loud ass DJ who serves no more purpose than a loud radio, as there's no real room to dance. Shots are pricey and also not made well.
Buy the alcohol, and have your own party. It will be more fun. I swear.
